Montreal, 2015.
Here are the photographs from my journey in the Altai region. They document the people of Altai, specifically Telengites, inside their homes, following their day-to-day lifestyles and traditions; a 1-month cultural observation. Despite numerous articles that I had read concerning the construction of the pipeline (which had been scheduled to begin in September of 2014), upon my arrival I was notified that construction had not yet begun. Construction is due to begin next year according to locals. My goal was to juxtapose the pipeline construction with the people and how a modern day corporate force clashes with ancient tradition, however I wasn't able to realize it as I originally intended. Hence, I decided to focus on the cultural side, the people, and asked them what they thought of this upcoming large-scale build in their region. I kept a diary and took notes everyday, which is currently in the process of being transcribed. The story will be presented in full at the exhibitions in order to create an immersive experience for the viewers. I will keep you posted regarding the details for the exhibitions that will take place in Montreal and Ottawa in late September and early October. Following the openings, the full story will be made public on my website and other online sources. For the backers that are to receive prints, the pictures are numbered. Email me at [email protected] with the numbers of the picture(s) that you would like. If you have no preference or have any other inquiries please let me know. I'd like to thank you all for your patience and support that continues to drive this project forward! спасибо!

Uaz the Greatest.
This is an Uaz. It’ll take you almost anywhere, especially in Siberia. Here it took us to the Ukok plateau, squeezed between Kazakhstan, China and Mongolia. In 1998 it was declared a UNESCO site.

I met Rasmus at the entrance to Christiania. He was smoking a joint, telling me it helped him cope with schizophrenia. Following our conversation, he was kind enough to invite me to his place for a traditional Danish meal the next evening. This is the last shot before I left.
