The Epic Dinosaur Battle - 5x14 TM episode tag by ~Chizuru-chibi

Hi, I was watching Ball of Fire, and saw the note that Jane had hidden inside his desk that Van Pelt found. The writing looks similar again to Robin's. Maybe she had the prettiest handwriting so she was the note writer on TM. That is so cool, the extras that Robin and Simon did in the background for the show.
Hello, my dear!
Just finished my own rewatch of Ball Of Fire and took a screencap of the note. After some research and comparing, I’m pretty sure that Simon Baker wrote it - not Robin Tunney.
Here are some pics that “prove” it, I think:
This is, to me, the same handwriting and it’s Simon’s. Pay special attention to the letter S which is pretty distinct and matches both in the note from Ball Of Fire, in Jane’s terms in My Blue Heaven, and in his “Red-John-handshake-notebook” which we see in Black Cherry. Same goes for the Ts and Ms, IMO.
Another “piece of evidence” would be the marriage licenses in White Orchids which Baker filled out - all of them, as a matter of fact, not just the one pertaining Jane’s and Lisbon’s wedding.
It’s maybe a little harder to see the similarities because he only used capitals in on of them, but again: the letter S is a dead give-away to me. And if you compare it with other stuff that we’ve seen Simon/Jane write, it gets more obvious that everything was written by Baker, though sometimes he used cursive, sometimes he printed, sometimes it’s kind of a mixture between both, which makes it a tad difficult to keep track, like with the note to Lisbon in Green Light:
or the letter to Lisbon in My Blue Heaven:
or the note in The Silver Briefcase:
Now, to get back to your assumption that Robin Tunney wrote that note in Ball Of Fire. Let’s take a look at her handwriting compared to it:
I really don’t think, they match. Robin’s letters lean backwards, and especially the S, the M, and the P aren’t from the same hand IMO.
But I’m not a graphologist - so everything I’ve said is speculation, of course, and I could easily be wrong.
I agree that it’s always nice to see all the little things Simon and Robin did for the show in the background. Though I admit that I found quite sloppy TBH, that Simon filled out ALL of the marriage licenses that “Lazarus” checked out at that office in White Orchids. Because Baker can’t possibly have been the only one capable of writing on set. And those forms were actually pretty visible in the episode and it would’ve been very easy to make this small detail more convincing by using different people’s handwritings. Sometimes I don’t notice that stuff, but often I do and it can irritate me. Just me…
Thank you so much for chiming in and making me take this wonderful trip down memory lane and “compare notes” (yes - pun intended… ;-) )! I had fun doing this “research” and I hope, you enjoy the results too - even if I couldn’t confirm your theory, my dear. Wish you a pleasant day!
Thanks for this, P. Very interesting!
Glad, you enjoyed it!
Red Hot & War of the Roses
I was just thinking, looking at these lovely gifs.
Lisbon sure did date guys who weren’t physically her type. We all know she likes blonds! LOL (Maybe it’s more about how they act, but still.)
Jane, on the other hand, always dated chicks who looked like what he really wanted (Lisbon). If you don’t count Kristina (which I think was never serious) and ones he dated for a case to trap them. Erica is a petite brunette, when Jane was in fugue he picked up a dead ringer for Lisbon, and Lorelei I still think was chosen by Red John because of her similarity to Lisbon physically. (Maybe not as much in the face, but hair, height, at a distance she looked the same.)
Lisbon’s always chosen dudes who don’t look like her favorite type. And I think I can safely say she does prefer cute blond boys because look at her first fiance, Greg! But she dated had a one night stand with Mashburn (who wore mock turtlenecks btw, not even turtlenecks!) and Puke Pike was another brunette who didn’t look like her type either.
But then I thought, you know, I bet Lisbon is the type to try to date someone who looks NOTHING like the guy she’s really yearning for, because omg what if they notice the resemblance and omg everyone will know??!!?! Ahaha oh Lisbon!
It’s ok, she got her blond boy in the end!
Jane didn’t really “date” anyone in the series until Lisbon, but you make a good point about his (and Lisbon’s) physical preferences.
I swear to God, I forget I’m in Twilight.
LOL this is the only reason to watch Twilight
Lisbon in Blue Bird.

Great film!

I just love the way she tells stories. I could listen/watch her tell stories all day. :)
