Things you didn't know about Ada before the remakes feat. Leon
*New and old fans of RE, ada and Leon, aeon shippers and non shippers (play nice, guys- we all love Ada and Leon, together or separately, as a couple and or as individuals) are welcome here. If i'm mistaken or missed out things, let me know.
** No bashing of characters past and present. If you love either one or the other or both games/ characters that's fine. We love videogames here and this is for new fans of the franchise who's curious about what Ada was like before the remakes, the changes in dialogue, cutscenes, etc.
✋🚫 Spoilers for original re2, re4, some scenes in re4r, Re6 & re damnation. If you're cool with this, let's get straight into it! 👻
Ada was never a damsel. She didn't need a man to save her. She saved herself numerous times in the original timeline. ⬇️
(Re2 og umbrella chronicles death's door, re4 og altar scene, re4 og during Krauser's fight and during Leon's infected scene, Damnation after Svetlana's fight, Re6 Carla fight scene, etc) In remake, she gets saved by three different people- Wesker, Luis (unintentionally) and Leon. Loved her new added fighting moves and the grapple.
The only other person who saved her when she let her guard down was Leon. Not because she's incapable, it's just their unspoken way of showing affection.
Here are a list of things you might not know about Ada if you skipped the original games released before 2012.
She was introduced in the first ever resident evil game before Leon and her appearance in re2 was highly anticipated by fans at the time because of the mystery surrounding her identity.
Ada is neither good nor bad. She's morally grey. Complex and mysterious.
Her introduction in og re2 wasn't linked to Leon at all but to her boyfriend at the time-John Clemens. She had a valid reason wandering around Raccoon City as a civilian working undercover for an unknown third party.
Ada did not want Leon around her for the fear of getting him involved in her work. Leon still wanted to keep her safe. They form a close bond because of this and their love slowly grew. It was not really a love at first sight meeting. Leon was depicted as naive not dumb. Ada as an intelligent puppetmaster not a damsel.
Leon is the only one who saves Ada in the original games. Wesker did not physically ensure Ada was safe and survive raccoon city after the fall only until she was useful to him. Ada constantly saved herself in the original games. She was never a damsel.
She had her own story and wasn't a damsel. She didn't rely on Leon to save her (that one weird line in the remake- where is Leon when i need him🤷♀️) She was an independent badass who got shit done and still got her man in the end.
She wore reasonable shoes in the original. Not heels. She was bored but remain classy and sassy.
Her height was not revealed until re Damnation. She's 5'7.
Claire A/Leon B is considered the canon story but if you choose to play in reverse, you get alternate choices, storyline and dialogue plus more. It's not the same gameplay like in the remakes.
Ada wouldn't have survived without Leon's help in og re2 and Leon wouldn't have survived without Ada's help in og re4. Their paths are intertwined yet they're independent characters with individual motives.
Ada was actually surprised seeing Leon being in the village in og re4 rather than being annoyed by his presence in the remake. (A: why am i not surprised)
Leon did research on Ada and reveals this to her in their reunion scene. Shes's surprised yet stays calm. Leon knows of Wesker and is ultimately upset she's working for him.
The b in the red dress is only something Krauser refers to her as.
Ada called Leon (practically a genius) and notes how he improved from a rookie to an agent noting his formidable survival skills in her unlockable reports. She thinks highly of him in the og. This scene is altered in the remake from her thoughts and reports to an actual conversation with Wesker. In this, she calls him "predictable", suggesting he's dumb. 👀
She's visibly worried about Leon's survival in og re4. She saves him five times in total- village church bell, leaving the shotgun behind, from Mendez, from krauser and from Saddler. Not because Leon's incapable. This is her way of telling him she loves him instead of saying it out loud.
The line ( Maybe, you forgot wesker,I don't always play by your rules) is referencing her choosing to save Leon and ignore his earlier order to get rid of him. Instead of listening, she says( i'm sorry Leon, I can't be seen with you) Implying that she knows Wesker was watching her and being seen with him means hurting him. She could not risk exposing herself or hurting Leon in the process.
She risked her life to save Leon from Krauser and barely made it in time despite having her own mission to complete. This scene mirrors the og re2 when Leon tries to save her from falling. After saving Leon from krauser she jumps over the railing, falling to a lower level implying subtly that she used her grapple to escape raccoon city.
The vial was called the sample in og re4 and not amber in re4r.
Ada was working for an unknown third party in og re4 and never planned to give Wesker the sample. The helicopter was her planned escape option.
Ada never expected Leon to follow her into the helicopter. She knew him well enough to predict his next move and provided him a jet ski as an alternative escape option. Something she didn't need to do but did out of her feelings for him.
When Leon asks Ada regarding the sample( L:You do know what that is, right? A: Hmmm.) This implies she's more aware of what's going on instead of learning what the amber does at the end of re4r at the last minute. Ada is always one step ahead in the original.
In damnation, if you look at concept design, Leon has got a picture of Ada as his phone wallpaper. And in re6, they have each other's phone number.
Ada and Leon did spent one night together, it's canon and described as a dinner date/hotel Between the events of re4 and re5. (when are we going to carry on from where we left off that night.L: Anytime but now.) Credit: RE Damnation
Ada helped clear Leon's name in RE6 but had her own name and reputation destroyed by Carla. Chris, his team and Leon believed Ada was an experiment created by Derek Simmons. Towards the end of re6, Leon asks her (what are you?) They exchanged their last goodbye in the game despite Helena giving Leon the chance to go with Ada.
Helena is the only one to know of Ada in canon lore. She's the only one aware of Leon's feelings for Ada and encourages him to pursue her even though he had obligations to Helena.
Leon does not go with Ada in re6 after having seen the cassette tape of Ada being "born" in a lab under Derek Simmons supervision.
Helena keeps Ada's compact mirror and gives it back to Leon. Hinting their story isn't over yet.
Claire does not meet or interact with Ada in either og re2 scenarios. They do meet in darkside chronicles memories of a lost city in a scenario that Ada assists them. ( this is not considered canon lore)
She does not get infected in the original.
The cut she receive are from different creatures in both games. (OG: a villager Remake: the black robe /U-3)
Her quiet moment of rage was justifiable at the end of re6 and showed a glimpse of her emotions outside of her calm and collected demeanor. She accepts an unknown job and it's still left as an open ended ending.
As you can see, I got a little carried away 🤪
If you reached the end of this post, thank you!!! 🫂
I've always thought Ada is such a badass. Personally, I sort of wished they did a infinite darkness season 2 with Ada as a lead character.
I love the og lore story and how detailed it was. There's so much soul and passion behind the lore, plot, characters and hidden secrets that we're still uncovering until today!
If you love this, part 2 feat Leon is coming soon. Please support me on ko-fi if you enjoyed reading☕
