#csuebintervarsity and #csuebbsu preparing to die in last wed during al fresco tabling day. InterVarsity Christian Fellowship student leader @tikerealatreace organized a die-in with the support of Black Student Union. What is a die in? A Die-in is a demonstration in which people lie down as if dead. Our bodies act as physical reminders of how many black and brown lives are taken from us each day by unnecessary police force. These are similar to acts of protests that have been used for decades, such as sit-ins, teach-in, and wade-ins (where black people waded into the waters of white-only beaches and swimming pools). We laid for 3 minutes and 40 seconds representing the 34 (identified) black lives taken in the past 2 months by police officers as of September 27,2016 (killedbypolice.net) . During the # minutes, we laid in solidarity with our brothers and sisters across America saying we will not stand for the dehumanization of black bodies in America and across the world. Why is a christian fellowship participating in this? We believe that God grieves over the loss of Black Lives in this country. We die-in today, to draw attention to that, to lament, and to create some dialogue on this campus around #BlackLivesMatter. Pray with us, talk with us, share with us!
