@silvyisatoytal
I made something
The true purpose of my wing practice??? Still a wip but its due 7 days from now so I've got time. Still a little wonky in parts but I'll fix it probably in class today. (I know it's a bit hard to see. I messed with contrast, but the final piece is supposed to be done with pen so I've been using lighter graphite pencils)
I guess I can start posting art stuff since I need to fill out 18 more pages before I turn it in for my foundation drawing course
being ace is so weird cause when you're watching shows you get a lot of "omfg this person is so hot i want them to kiss me" but you're just here like "omfg this person is so hot i want them to kiss this equally hot person who has chemistry with them"
obsessed with how the entire movie is just this
the problem with reading and writing leading to a strong vocabulary is that you tend to know the vibe of words instead of their meanings.
if I used this word in a sentence, would it make sense? absolutely. if you asked me what it meant, could I tell you? absolutely not.
I love calling out aphobia. Genuinely. We don't call out aphobia enough, passive or explicit.
Examples of passive aphobia and amato/allonormativity, for anyone wondering:
Implying someone needs a partner or that everyone wants a partner.
Saying "something more" and "more than friends" in reference to getting together. Boy oh boy, do I see this all the time in fanfic. (Other things you can say are "something else", "something different", "other than friends", "in addition to". This way, we're not unintentionally enforcing relationship hierarchies.)
Saying/Implying someone hasn't met the right person yet.
Implying all aros are heartless/don't love (this diminishes platonic attraction/relationships).
Implying all aros feel love (this excludes loveless and aplatonic aros).
Saying aroallos are all sluts.
Implying sex is a milestone people reach.
Implying a first kiss is a milestone to reach.
Enforcing relationships hierarchies, intentionally or otherwise. (This looks like the example above, as well as pitting different types of relationships against each other or saying a certain type of relationship is more important than another.) (Yes, this goes for saying platonic relationships are more important than romantic ones. That excludes aplatonics.)
The only aspec rep in media being the villains/non-human characters/etc. (Disclaimer: Us reclaiming those things is different. I personally love seeing aro rep in non-human characters, but that's just me. Non-human characters being the only aspec rep is the problem.)
Implying all aces are aro.
Implying all aros are ace.
Implying all aros experience platonic attraction.
And much more. The aspec community isn't black and white--that's why it's the a-spectrum.
DISCLAIMER: I am only one loveless aplatonic aromantic and do not speak for the entire aspec community.
oooo I got some more!
Implying alloace people's redeeming quality is the fact that they still experience romantic attraction (in a sense of "they're not heartless they can still fall in love!")
I've seen that a lot from alloace people sadly.
Assuming all ace people still feel romantic attraction
implying aroace people are less valid bc they don't feel sexual or romantic attraction
It really goes both ways, don't assume all aces are aro and vice versa, but also don't assume someone being ace means they're not aro. I've seen both and neither is more helpful.
and of course
forgetting about the rest of the spectrum, Demi-, Grey-, Cupio-, Apothi-, and many more identities exist upon the asexual and aromantic spectrums <3
can i ask what brushes/opacities you use?
if possible could i also have examples??? i need a brush that doesn't make my art look flat, idk
hihii! heres a dropbox link to all the brushes im sharing here that arent available on gumroad etc, i hope it works! ill explain each below
for my opacities theyre usually just at full opacity, lowest ill go is like 75% for lining/sketching
i mainly use the jingsketch free brush pack you can get for free for most of my stuff, but i use a lot of different brushes i find and or make based on the artwork im drawing. also i dont really do lineart, just clean up sketches and render on top after i color!
the first pic’s the jingsketch brushes i use the most! i use the last three (flat square, sharp, round render and the sketch brushes) for coloring in things in most of my art, though i mainly only use flat square for bgs and blocking in clouds. for blocky render i use it to both render and also block in objects for bgs, its similar to flat square except harsher and less soft
for coloring things i also just use the lasso tool around what i want to be colored and fill. i reccomend coloring/rendering with the round render for a softer feel!
- i usually use the clean sketch, round sketch jingsketch brushes above, and below pineapple, tinderbox and sharp energetic for sketching/lining
i kinda just switch between each depending on which i feel like using but its *typically pineapple* for most of my drawings because i like the soft flowly feel it gives. if i want more harsher lines i use the harsher brushes!
tinderbox is a procreate preset brush so just search a little and you should find it!
for messy watercolor, i usually only use it to color in doodles or blush (along with round render) and i got it from this pack by eriririnn, and the sword and multipurpose brush are only for small details so they arent a major part of the brushes i use but they help (in dropbox)
as for examples, heres a few simpler ones so you have a better idea on how they work
i hope that helps!! if it also serves any advice i usually make quick strokes instead of slower ones and keep shapes in mind when i sketch which could give that illusion of it being less flat, and instead spend more of my time rendering and coloring to help emphasize
coloring your lines help a lot too and make the piece easier on the eyes, but that depends on the colorscheme and what you want the painting to convey
@silvyisatoytal has cursed me
If I had to see this, so do ALL of you
I mean
I did ask you if you wanted to see it
Aries be like
So yeah I’m an Aries. I was born on the 19th of April, and apparently Aries hate to be touched. Ironically this is true. Because if you touch me I slapz youz. One girl in my class pokes me and runs away saying she ‘touched senpai’
