After Wedding Party- Part II
Archer’s Bedroom
Harlan- Nine Months
Took Harlan to the pool playground to get her nine month pictures taken. We were both okay that it was a little too cold to go swimming.
Three Months Pregnant
Three months pregnant with baby #2
The Proposal
BEN: Megan, will you take my hand and marry me?
MEGAN: Yes!
Let’s Go For A Walk
It was kind of early to be getting up, but Ben and I had to get going to a brunch Ben’s work was throwing for his staff.
He wanted to go for a walk after we ate, which I found a little unusual. However, I love watching the Fall leaves, so I went with it. Who doesn’t love pretty leaves falling to the ground?
The only thing that didn’t make sense was Ben had been unusually quiet. Although nothing had gone down between us, I couldn’t help but wonder if he didn’t want to be with me.
This little one is officially crawling at eight months. Boy is she ever proud of herself.

A Golden Piece of Land
Here’s the golden piece of land where our house will sit, hopefully for years to come. I can’t believe we’re really doing this. This area is so beautiful and I can’t wait to see our vision come to life.
Harlan’s 7 Month Update
Oh, this little face! I admit we haven’t been thinking much about Harlan getting another month older. I blame that on the fact that this pregnancy and trying to find a house has been consuming us.
Speaking of a house...we decided to build one. Not the brightest idea, I know. But as Ben and I have been talking about things, we decided to build because we love having children. As hard as this is to swallow that we’re already expecting a new baby even though Harlan isn’t that old, we’ve decided we wanted to try and have a lot of kids. Hopefully not soon after we have this one.
A little bit about Harlan’s six-month update:
*She can pull herself up on the couch (or a leg--whatever you offer her)
*Says mama and dadda
*Loves playing with her toys
*Still loves her red-eared turtle, Obie, more than ever!
Thoughts Swirling Through Our Minds
I had an appointment later that week to confirm that everything was a go with this pregnancy. My stomach lurched a few times, which made me feel nauseous and uncomfortable.
Ben wasn’t much better. He look nervous as I had ever seen him, and he could often be found staring at the ground. I knew what he was thinking. How in the world would we be able to take care of two children under the age of one? How would we feed and take care of them? More specifically, how would I take care of two children when he went back to work?
It’s Time To Move
We were still trying to adjust to the news of already expecting another child. Harlan had just turned six months and I know neither of us were ready for this news. We would soon have two children under the age of two to raise and I knew my heart was heavy.
We worried that Harlan wouldn’t be able to adjust. We worried our house was WAY too small, because it was. We lived in a one bedroom house with just the three of us.
There were too many moments we were awake, wondering who could help us, and then just right after breakfast Ben remembered an old buddy who had been in real estate, so he decided to give him a call.
“Hey, Eric. It’s Ben Schmidt. *pauses* “Hey, how’s it going? Are you still doing real estate? You are? That’s great. I have a question for you then...do you think you could find us a house?”
“Great, thank you! We will be there bright and early tomorrow morning. Thanks, Eric. I owe you one.”
Date Night
When I had told Ben of my pregnancy news, he had felt just as shocked. Neither one of us had been ready for another child. Harlan was an amazing, easygoing child for us. Neither of us knew if this child would be the same.
So, we decided to go out on a date; except neither one of us actually made it out of the house.
Instead, we spent a little time together. Hey, whatever works, right?
Uh Oh!
This was an unexpected surprise. The last few days I had been feeling quite unwell, just like I had been pregnant with Harlan. So I took a pregnancy and the answer was unexpected.
Harlan had just turned six months. I had just been to my doctor and had a few tests run to make sure everything was normal. The results were normal, which was even more surprising that the result was positive.
Harlan’s 6 Month Update
A little bit about Harlan’s six-month update:
*Has finally started smiling at strangers
*Can sit up without falling over
*Loves clapping
*Loves peas, apples, and peaches
*Loves rolling around on the floor
