[Voicemail] -tries to sing something- you better liked my attempt at singing brother.
[ text ] Who could tell we had a singer among us?
[ text ] Karaoke bar calling and it's your treat!
[ text ] I'd sing something too, but I suck at it, forgive Hyung.
— Chapter oo6: A kick in the ballistic
There’re two kinds of folks that sit around thinking about how to kill people: Psychopaths and Mystery writers, but only the second kind do some sort of research before letting the thoughts flow through their fingers to convince someone that it was possible that the murder could actually happen in the real life and that was exactly the point Simon was trying to prove as he walked around the corridors of the university in the early hours of the morning.
The place was quite enough to pay off as a scenario from a thriller movie and just like he wished to most of his colleagues were still far away from their officers, what could possible go wrong? Everything was the accurate answer when Simon was the one up to something and he never failed in surprise even himself.
Straightening up his posture and taking the laser tag gun on his right hand, positioning his left one under it as the officer protocol asked for, the blond glued his back to the wall gesturing with two of his fingers a consent for the imaginary fellow officers to carry on their mission as he continued his way to the targeted room.
He paused, taking a deep breath to mentally write down the details that might be useful when the author’s block is finally gone and he had enough of inspiration for the next book and probably because the pause seemed dramatic enough for his liking at the moment, it wasn’t everyday he had the chance to go all Jason Bourne.
Simon kicked the door down with all of his CIA false agent glory and somersaulted his way inside the room, pointing his laser gun to what should had been an empty space. “Police! Put your hands were I can see and lay on the ground already!” He screamed at the top of his lunges.
His gaze shifted to the left as he heard a gasp and paper noises, narrowing his eyes at the familiar face the writer didn’t need a second to recognize the cool folk that used to try talk him out of causing troubles (and consequently being expelled from school) when he was younger.
“Fuck!” Simon cursed as he analyzed better the situation he got himself into, muttering a ‘my bad’ as soon as he realized he had cursed in front of the older. “What are you doing here, old man?”
— Chapter oo1: Under the radar
Yunho scoffed and let out a laugh,” Right. police tactical for book research.” he didn’t held back the urge to roll his eyes, but neither did he asked more about the writers block that was currently holding his hyung from writing. He knew Simon had these very often but he always came through them and always was the outcome phenomenal. The proof were the 27 bestsellers. Knowing Simon for a quiet long time now he knew this what would happen when the writersblock was knocking on Simon’s door. Wasn’t surprised by it anymore.
"Sorry hyung. I came right from my own class to your room, hiding the cup of coffe uselessly behind his back with a guilty smile around his lips," I will pay you lunch if you want? Or dinner? doesn’t matter." Yunho answered his hyung," Nice to hear you still appreciate my visits." he chuckled. Perking his brow when his hyung tried to hide the empty document screaming for attention, he shrugged and shook his head,"Nothing." he simply replied.
The younger professor listened how Simon started to talk about his daughter. The smile he always wore when the name of his little girl was mentioned danced around his lips and he had to laugh when his mom came up,” Are we becoming sentimental now?” he chuckled after Simon had cut himself off.
"Oh? She is now?", Mrs Park was a sort of mother for Yunho and he loved her to bits and as a child he had liked the plays she had played in. But as the somewhat queen of drama she was, you didn’t wanted to be around her for a very long time," Maybe when I have time enough we can go together." he insisted. Knowing Simon wouldn’t like the idea of seeing his mom on stage.
“My cross to care, how do you think what I write seems so real?” The blond raised an eyebrow, wiggling it teasingly to make the younger laugh, that seems to never fail with his daughter and maybe it’d do the trick with Yunho too, suitable ways of changing subjects were something to be worked off soon. “And for the record, I wasn’t planning that a monster would take down the law enforcement with the power of its big forehead…” He cut himself off by the time his smile grew considerably larger and seemed to be about to glow.
That was the sign from the universe putting: Simon Park had an idea as the headlines for a journal and maybe the writer was desperate enough to think it was a good idea of some sort. He opened his mouth to scream his admiration for his own geniality when his glance caught the expression on the younger boy’s face. “That awful?” The other asked, finally letting go of the remote control. He couldn’t be that rusty, right?
“Shit.” He cursed, falling sit on the chair behind him as he pointed the other chair for Yunho to do the same. “No, not dinner or lunch! What about a shot? I could use a drink right now.” He shrugged nonchalantly, still visible upset by his lack of good ideas. Simon couldn’t believe the block of the worst bastard kind was outsmarting him! The master of the macabre, the self proclaimed best mystery writer in the country! “Maybe Mina took my inspiration with her when she left me behind”
He ignored the younger’s comment on his sentimentalism, Simon knew that he could be worse than his mother sometimes and that he had inherited the thing she had for the dramatic, but who could blame a diva’s son for taking after his mother?
“Go see mother?” The suggestion was enough to spin the blond off his melodramatic course. “Why do you think I came to Seongnam? No, kid! I’m not going to let you blow my hidden place!” Simon crossed his arms, he could had sound serious if he wasn’t almost pouting. “If you want to see mother, you go on your own and better pray she doesn’t kidnap you!”
— Chapter oo1: Under the radar
It could have been a normal greeting but when you’re stepping into Simon’s office there is no such thing as normal and that what was Simon’s greeting to the younger. Opening the door he felt someting hard planting against his forehead. A loud yelp escaped his lips and a worried voice of his hyung invading his ears.
"A goodday to you too Hyung." he rubbed his forehead looking up at the writer with one eye open," Why is it that I want to come in your office to greet you I have to be afraid of another attempt on my life." he joked before straithening his back eyeing the other. There were almost as tall as each other but Simon was a little taller than the younger.
"What I am doing here? I’m just passing by to see my favourite hyung." he smiled widely, giving a light punch on the other’s shoulder before turning around and take a good look at Simon’s office. He always has been amazed by the way the other could decorate his room. Alot of books were standing in his room, on the ground, in the closet, on his deks, everywhere you could even look there were books. Running with his fingers over the titles of the books his eye fell on the authors laptop that had Word open. Yunho knew Simon sometimes had deadlines for his own books and normally whenever Yunho passed by there always were words or chapters but this time the document was empty.
"What’s wrong witht he empty document?" he asked with brows perked up," You haven’t been writing?" he saw the other shrugging making Yunho pursing his lips. Then his eyes fell on a frame on his desk. A picture of Simon’s family. Or the part that is still there. Simon’s daughter, Wilhemina, was smiling at him and Yunho’s fingers closed around it and returned the smile to the picture," How is she doing?" he asked in a soft voice," and your mother? It has been a while." he told Simon sadly.
“I don’t know, Yunho, but I surely wasn’t planning on going all ‘Black Hwak Down’ on you!” Simon narrowed his eyes to exam the younger’s forehead and the small purple point that’d probably turn into a bruise in a few days or hours, he’d live though and that was enough for the older. “It’s not an attempt to your life, kid! This is a police tactical training!” He fought the urge to roll his eyes back when he saw the look on the younger’s face. “For a book research, of course!” That wasn’t exactly the truth, but wasn’t a lie neither. If there was another thing that Simon learned from his marriages was how to throw white-lies around without getting anyone hurt with it.
Simon gave him a small smile, making room for the younger to walk in properly without fearing to have another object throw towards his head. “And you didn’t bring me food? Yunho, how could you!” The blond joked, gazing the younger in a theatrical way he probably learned from his mother while he was about seven years old. “I’m happy you came though, was starting to feel lonely in here.” And he was being honest, perhaps, the three years old in him came out to play whenever he was feeling bored which happened a lot for him, things caught the blond’s attention just as fast as he let them go.
“What empty document?” The writer thrown himself on front of the table attempting to hide his laptop without obviously succeeding, Simon was still too embarrassed about his little problem to admit to anyone else what he couldn’t admit to himself in the first place: He was suffering from the well feared author’s block, and his wasn’t an ordinary one, it was probably the mother of all the writer’s blocks in the world.
“I might have done a few scrabbles here and there.” He shrugged, trying to change the subject to something in his safety zone. “Mina’s doing fine, I finished a skype call with her just a few minutes ago she needed to run to classes. “ The silly smile that most people didn’t had the opportunity to see teased his lips, his little girl was surely growing up. “I wonder if it happened the same to mother, you know? One day she woke up and looked at me and I was all grow-…”
He stopped himself from finish the phrase, because of obvious reasons: He hadn’t grown up yet. “Well, Mrs. Park is back on the stage, kid! She’d be delighted if you go to Seoul see her performing live, like the old times.”
— Chapter oo5: Between Heroes and Villains
As if the professor job wasn’t already too boring, Simon had to end up with the short end of the stick. He wasn’t in Seongnam for more than a week and being confined to a desk wasn’t exactly what he had in mind when he took the job, and watching over kids’ detention was a way past his to-do list. Because Hell, those kids were at a university! Time out for them should have been over a way before high school in his opinion.
The writer was sure as hell the beautiful girl sitting on the back of the room was as bored as he was, though she seemed concentrated in what she was writing he could bet his pants it wasn’t anything related to what she should be doing for the past two hours. She was quite the sight to look at, Simon couldn’t say it was a wasted afternoon in anyways, he wouldn’t end up being productive in anyways and he was being paid to watch a girl.
That would be the closer something could get to the best job in the world, after writing, but probably the best he could get to do at Seongnam.
He almost cursed himself for not actually paying attention when the staff told him her name along what she had done, it took him a few minutes to finally figure out without a doubt Ryu Hyoyoung. She looked like someone who knew how to have fun and fun was exactly what he had been looking for every single day of his life and that the university seems to be lacking at.
“Hey, pretty one.” He called her out not bothering to actually be formal, Simon was well-educated , but whenever he had a chance to not used the politeness he learned in boarding school he seemed to take it greatly. “Hear me out, I think I got a deal for you.” His usually serious expression ran off to give space for a small smile to take over his lips.
“None of us is happy to be here this evening and since we just got one more hour of what the hell is that you should be doing and I still need to watch over you.” He raised an eyebrow mischievously, Simon didn’t actually felt bad by trying to talk a girl out her detention to basically run away from the building at the late hours of the day. “So, mind going out with me?” He was still the new guy, so he didn’t quite knew the campus very well and hopefully the pretty one sitting over there could give him a hand with that.
— Chapter oo4: Hell Hath No Fury
When he couldn’t figure something out and refused to admit he was stuck, Simon tried to think like his characters to figure out what they’d to in that specific situation, but when there were no characters to figure out he would use the same strategy as a research for the upcoming book. It didn’t matter to him he had only one week before he killed his own deadline again, but just like he’d always tell his publisher: One cannot rush a genius.
And being the genius he was the one idea that came up to him seemed perfect and irresistible to the author and his three years old personality. Getting the car wasn’t an issue, Simon’s books still sold more than a Lady Gaga’s concert tickets and it made his bank account very shining basically every day, he surely didn’t had any weight on his conscience to worry about when he bathed the random car with gasoline and used the lighter to let the flames begin.
“Shit!” The writer cursed at the explosion sound that came from his research object, now burning a car in the middle of Seongnam’s campus didn’t quite felt like a good idea, but that wasn’t something that could stop Simon anyways. “That was awesome! “ He yelled to himself, writing down on the notepad what he just had witnessed. “Tragic, but awesome.”
Reaching for the fire extinguisher once he realized it was time for him to jump to the interesting part before the security or the groundskeepers followed the smoke towards his not so effective hidden spot. After he extinguished the flames leaving only the dark, burnt and wry metal mold of what used to be a car, the blond admired his experiment with a small proud smile.
Simon took his phone out his pocket and shifted through the contact list, for the second phase of his mission he’d need a little help of one of the colleagues he had met around the campus, but he was sure the younger wouldn’t like his plan, though, Simon just hoped he’d be nice enough to go along with it.
“Hey, Suho?” He asked when the other’s voice could be heard in the other side. “Hyung needs help, so can you please bring your art kit to the trail close to the lake? The more brushes the merrier and come dressed with clothes you don’t mind getting dirtied.” The proud smile ran away to give space to a rather mischievous one. Anyone could say that Simon was up to something.

Wassup, hyung?! || Simon and Kyuhyun ||
Ever since he met the older man in a club while picking up girls two years ago, Kyuhyun considered Simon Park a close friend, despite being several years younger. He had kept in touch with the older and rather enjoyed their friendship. He hoped to be as cool as Simon when he got to be his age and when the younger teacher heard that his longtime friend was coming to Seongnam to teach, Kyuhyun made a point of being the first to welcome the man to the school.
As he knew the schedule of the school, he stepped into the other’s office not even bothering to knock. “What’s up, hyung?” he exclaimed, sitting down in a spinny chair and spinning around. He respected Simon enough to call him Hyung. He usually didn’t use hyung on most older teachers. He didn’t change that much. If anything, Kyuhyun got worse and more snarky.
As the other finally noticed, Kyuhyun smirked. “Been a while, hyung~!” he grinned .
Simon wasn’t a teacher and what the hell he was doing at Seongnam University as one is still a mystery to him, the kind of mystery he didn’t want to solve especially when ‘writer’s block’ and ‘babysit’ didn’t exactly existed in the thesaurus the blond carried around inside of his head. Job requirement and apparently, relocate the office he had in his penthouse apartment to the room given by the administration of the university was also a job requirement once he realized he would have to get it done by himself and that the boxes wouldn’t magically get the things in its place.
Reality always found a way to fuck up things, no matter how easy or little it seems to be. Cracking his knuckles after placing the television on one of the corners in which he’d have a good view from his chair, imagining himself with his foot over the table while playing the newest Devil May Cry game was the perfect plan to procrastinate his writing and maybe even come up with some twisted idea for the book’s plot.
The boyish grin teased his lips as he bend down closer to the television to get his playstation 4 installed and find the said game out of his game collection, the rest of the unpacking could be done later. If Simon had one of those lord names it would be ‘Simon, the procrastinator ‘.
He didn’t saw or heard anyone entering the room as his undivided attention lied on connecting the right cables in the right places behinds the LED screen of the television, when the younger’s voice reached his ears Simon almost let out a manly squeal. “Holy hell, pal!” The blond almost bumped his head on the Tv turning around to face the younger male with a smirk. “I’m up, dongsaeng, always am.”
Simon quickly finished his task with the cables before greeting the younger, it wasn’t a surprise to find Kyuhyun there since he already knew it’d be a matter of time until the other showed up after his classes, but it was still as good to see him again. “How have you been? Yeah, could you guess one day both of us would be teaching?” Simon chuckled, pulling the spinning chair closer by its back. “What have you been up to? Besides knocking yourself up on my officer, I mean.” The blond asked with a mischievous smirk on the corner of his lips.
— Chapter oo2: Warming up
Simon hasn’t been at Seongnam for more than two days and it was already his fifth adventure in the cooking club’s room. Outwardly it seemed like the author might or might not had gotten locked out the apartment again and visiting the place of his first exploring adventure was his natural first thought, the fact that the cooking club was located on the first floor and the window was always opened didn’t helped his spider sense tingle when he jumped through it once again.
The club was empty, nonetheless, and the students were all tucked on their class rooms until the clock ringed noon for the lunch break. Simon had enough of time to prepare his own Last Supper and probably get it painted too! Smirking, the teacher rolled up the sleeves of his formal button-up shirt exposing his tattoos that covered most part of both of his arms while gazing around the room for inspiration and the possible location of new ingredients.
Cooking was like any other kind of art and it took some serious thinking before start dirtying their hands with dough, literally. And for today’s menu nothing seemed more accurate than warm up the cold of the Christmas month!
Cracking on the eggs to mix it with milk, flour, sugar and chocolates Simon proceeded to bake what seemed to be an ordinary cupcake. . . Until the stirring moment came up and the blond started to cut some chili and as if it wasn’t peculiar enough put the little pieces inside the mix and inside the molds.
Adding a little fire to the chocolate was tasteful in his prerogative and like the child he was at the age of thirty-three Simon Park bounced up and down in order to get the molds inside the oven, just to raise an eyebrow at the sight of a modeling silhouette stopped at the door and when his eyes met her timid but shining ones, Simon couldn’t help but allow a small smile to tease across his lips.
“Welcome! Welcome! The lady’s early for about twenty minutes.” The professor commented, though he never saw the younger girl in his life before. “To what do I have the honor of your visit? I hope you like it sweet and spice, I’m sure I won’t disappoint you.”
