Yes I Am!
I’m glad that I’m girly as a boy. True, I might not appear to be girly. I might not necessarily be dressed to prove it. My voice and its inflection would probably fool most. But I’m girly and I’m glad that I am. I’m not proud that I feel the necessity to hide it from most people that I know. I’m not pleased that I spent most of my life trying to push those feelings to the side or that I felt I needed to somehow “correct” my miss-givings because “it’s not right.” But here I am, past the prime of my life, and I find more joy and self-fulfillment in simply admitting that I’m glad to be girly than when I was in my youth.
Can I encourage you younger girlies? Just be happy with who you are and how you feel about yourself. Be glad that you are a human being with opportunities to love others in special ways. Be glad that you have the choice, and even more chance for that today than 20 years ago, to be more open about being true and girly. At some point in your life, you’ll have to sacrifice something. It might be some form of girliness, but it doesn’t have to be all of it. Most importantly, it doesn’t have to be your spirit of femininity.
Be glad that you’re girly. I know that I am. And I’m glad that you’re girly.
Have a wonderfully beautiful day, my friends.

Lol. Do they really think mere exposure to the idea will change a person? I know I'd be preaching to the crowd here, but as a 40-something amab who's only started to question in the last months -- I lament the fact that had I had more exposure, awareness, at a young age, I could have taken a very different path. Not that I reject where I am, or hate everything I've become and done, but I think about the anxieties I didn't know I was carrying, the internalized shame that has affected me. Unwillingness to see, recognize, and dignify something does not make it disappear, it only makes it something that gets repressed, misinterpreted, which all does a number on the soul, leading to self-loathing, etc. Of course having that argument with someone who denies the possibility... There's all too many people that deny things based on nothing more than an opinion of a person. Live and let live I say.
I often try to put myself in their shoes. I'm trying to figure out if I'm missing the boat on their approach, or worse, not seeing cases in which I do it myself. I'm afraid the latter are all too common. It's far too easy to v accept something as a strongly held conviction because someone you've been made to trust tells you it's so without really coming to that truth yourself. We don't have time to understand everything for ourself, so we have to rely on trusted people. And what if we later learn we've placed our trust in the wrong people?
But then, that's why we have to keep reminding ourselves not to judge people without learning more, not to sentence them without a valid judgement...
In line with another quote I saw yesterday, someone close to me said something which I'm 98% sure I misunderstood. But that 2% forces me to keep replaying it in my mind because it makes me question myself questioning.... It keeps replaying in my head. But thankfully I can reach out to them to ask for clarification. If it had been a stranger that got into my head, or just someone I'm not comfortable talking to?
Sorry for the rambling... To bring us back to point... I can say definitively that I've never questioned my identity about whether I'm a caterpillar... Perhaps it's just severely severely repressed? 🤣🏳️⚧️💜
Trans truth: I wasn't asking to be special. I was asking to be comfortable
I did not reinvent myself. I just stopped pretending.

Exactly!!
Thanks Sophie, you're mine today!
This is for everyone, not just people transitioning. Everyone has a light inside them. Everyone deserves to let their light shine F or the world to see.
I had to discover how to tell people what I'd known since early in grammar school...
I am discovering my true gender.

Got it? We're not playing make believe.
This is a mindset change I'm still trying to wrap myself around as I search my own soul for my truth.
I am forever grateful that this is my mama's attitude! #ThankYouMama #SophieGirl #MyMama #MyHero 💖💖💖💖💖💖🏳️⚧️🏳️⚧️
I have friends who own this with their daughter. I didn't realize just how important that was to me until I started questioning myself. Now I wish I still had my Mom to do this for me.
My therapist had to tell me this one. It's easy for me to imagine all the worst case scenarios. Much, much harder to imagine the best. The closest I got to it was dreaming about the best, but I couldn't bring myself to actually imagining it. That felt too ... Real.
