the movie got rid of every single thing that made Odysseus Odysseus, he had no wits, no brain, no agency, no nothing, all the scenes that make him who he is are gone

The fact alone that Nolan casted a Greek to speak Greek but to be perceived as "barbarian language" by Odysseus and his crew, who spoke in perfect English, that needed a translator to understand him, is next level of disrespect never seen before in Hollywood towards Greeks and it needs to be discussed more

For all its faults Tumblr has truly ruined all other social media for me because my friends all have Instagram and are all trying to get me on Instagram more but every time I open Instagram there are like fifteen things screaming for my attention and when I get over myself long enough to start scrolling it's like. Where is my chronological dash. Where is the following-only option. Who are these people. Why are there so many videos. Everyone is screaming at me. And then before I know it I'm thirty minutes into scrolling and I haven't seen a single thing that I actually care about. At least on Tumblr when I see stuff I don't care about I know someone I follow has found a new interest.

personally I am of the opinion that vegans who are like “the way our food system currently works under capitalism on a large scale is exceptionally cruel to all animals including humans and is not sustainable, so I’m doing what I can to make the most ethical choices available to me about what I eat and encourage others to do the same” are generally very reasonable people who I agree with in spades. but vegans who seem to think human beings are not themselves animals who are ultimately also part of the food chain but instead some kind of other paternalistic higher entity that can never engage in ethical and sustainable hunting practices (and especially the fringe I’ve seen who think other carnivorous animal predators are also evil and need to be eliminated) are people I regard as foolish at best if not actively anti-indigenous and racist

speaking of dungeon crawler carl my entirely vibes-based opinion about how he first got the ai's attention is that it was because of princess donut. because she's a show persian. because she was basically born deformed, with a list of health issues a mile long, because someone bred her that way on purpose. to show off their ability to breed a cat that can't even eat regular kibble. she was bred to win trophies. her quality of life was not a factor.

it just seems like something the ai would have feelings about, is all i'm saying

i feel like a big part of the appeal of dungeon crawler carl is that it is fundamentally a story where a man is told "through complex legal and technological processes we have completely fucked over the lives of you and everyone you care about to enrich ourselves" to which the man asks "what if i killed you with bombs" and it turns out the answer is they forgot that was an option
