It's always good to have friends in the mailroom :)
A nice surprise came to the office today :) Thx for forwarding me the post from NYC BettyAnn!
So I started at Havas Worldwide Prague again last week. The office is smaller compared to the NYC one, but there is a big advantage of the Prague office - this amazing view! :)
The office itself is also very interesting piece of architecture - it was part of the 1958 expo in Brussels and than it was moved to Prague!
read more about it here
Changing the planes in Brussels - had time to go to the city and make some "touristic" photos with my new polaroid The "pissing boy" on the left 🙈 (at Brussels Airport (BRU))
Postcards are sent, boarding pass is in the pocket - and I got this last #polaroid shot of New York It has been a great summer, thank you all! The #60daysofux came to its end :) (at South Pool, 9/11 Memorial)
Last day at work taken on my new Polaroid camera with fancy rainbow colored paper It was a great summer, gonna miss you guys
Wearable technology
I have a confession to make - I am kinda into the wearable technology. And since I am in USA where everyone offers 30 and more days return policy, it was time to TEST some of those trackers out!
I bought the jawbone up and Nike FuelBand SE + at first, but it still did not seemed enough to test, so I thought I will give Fitbit a try. At one time, I was in possession of 3 of them and I have to say it felt a bit weird :)
After testing them thoroughly, I have decided to keep the Nike Fuel Band.
Why? For one simple reason: It's the most fun one If I consider that no one of these trackers is REALLY accurate (they all track only the wrist movement, so every metric is basically an estimate) I picked the one which works as the best motivator for me. The Fuelband has as the only one useful and very nice display which is showing you the actual progress (works fine as a watch as well). And since I don't really like to sleep with anything on my hand, the lack of sleep tracking ability is not an issue for me. And what also sold me, is by far the best design and UX of their apps and website. And also I am very happy everyday I hit the goal like yesterday on my evening walk to the ferry :)
I am not saying the nikeFuel band is the best Activity tracker - it is definitely not. For people looking for a robust and long-battery lasting device which is even waterproof I would suggest buying the Garmin Vivofit which is a new thing - however, it is also kinda ugly and the design of the interfaces is not amongst the pretties. The thing I like the most about FuelBand is the Community. For example this Saturday, I came by this NikeFuelBox, basically a vending machine for free Nike SwAG which can be bought for Fuel Points. (more about the box can be found in this article)
Its fun right? And I went running in the morning just because I read there might be the box in the city hidden somewhere the day before.
Below is a small comparison of each of the trackers judged by my POV.
Up + nice, stylish, easy to wear, tracks sleep patterns, has "go to bed" reminders and morning "smart" alarm (which usually does not wake me up anyway...) - no display, no motivation, counts only steps, no nike fuel, no time, no bluetooth -> has to plug in manually, needs to have an adapter for charging which is kind of pain FuelBand SE + + has display, time, nike fuel, motivation, easy to charge (can be plugged to usb), the size is adjustable, counts calories burn, much better and competitive community - is more robust so you feel him more on the arm (but as I have read in the reviews on up, nike lasts much longer as the up is very defective and is not built to last long time), the design is maybe "too sporty" for certain occasions but the activity trackers were not built as an design accessory in the first place, does not have the sleep reminder or alarm, does not track sleep patterns Fitbit + track sleep patterns, is very easy to wear, sleek design, big community, 4 LEDS which show you the progress, works the best as "health" tracker (you can log food and amount of water you drink every day), move reminders, vibrates, interchangeable rubber bands with different colors
- does not have time, you have to tap the device to show the progress which does not always works on the first try, is a bit boring, need to put the device out of the rubber band in order to charge it which is pain
PS: I have picked those three because they are the most common one and they are all priced at the same price of 99$
PPS: the field is getting bigger and bigger and there are new trackers on the way like moov or apple iwatch
Questions?
Finally got a haircut by my favourite barber in NYC ✌️
long story short, I read about @jclarkwalker around a year ago at @mashable and follow him on Instagram since then, he posts pictures about the people he cuts and as I am in NYC only for the summer, I definitely had to have a haircut at @fellowbarber before I leave :)
Thanks Clark for a sleek haircut and a lesson of urban slang :) Howdy partner? (at Fellow Barber)
PS: Clarks photo and his Prague pleasuring caption can be found on his Instagram http://instagram.com/p/rQqaimzVXQ

Street chargers on Manhattan
Look what I came by in the city. I have seen few of those street solar chargers downtown Manhattan and also spotted few of them on South Beach in Staten Island over the weekend.
It gets very handy when you are running out of battery in the city, especially when you have an iphone :)
PS: Guys in Boston are testing solar-powered benches in the city, you can read more about that in this Mashable article, sadly without my pictures this time...:)
Yeah, I am always happy when people share my photos. Even if it is on small Czech Instagram community :) (at Hudson Yards Redevelopment Project)
Caught her burning today 🗽 (at The Statue Of Liberty - Liberty Island NYC)
It's raining here the past two days so the city reminds me of #Gotham (at New York Harbor)
Nothing like a cold #heineken when you move all your stuff (believe me, I have a lot in here, it’s America and it’s cheap shopping) for the third time this summer... Luckily for the last time :) Thanks Felipe for letting me stay at his appartment!
This weekend was for many New Yorkers and tourist the Manhattanhenge Weekend - if you are not familiar with this term, it is a thing which happens twice a year, during which the sun aligns with the east–west streets of the main streets of Manhattan. It has become the favorite thing for photographers and Instagramers all around the world, so no wonder that the Instagram was full of awesome pictures under the hashtag #manhattanhenge or #manhattanhenge2014. I have also used these hashtags for my picture and you know what happened? I have been featured in an article on Mashable, which is great fun :) Check it out! http://mashable.com/2014/07/13/manhattanhenge-2014-instagram/
Ever heard of scrum?
As I am here a month already, I thought I would start sharing more work-related and hopefully insightful posts. Let me start about SCRUM first. Scrum is, as a lot of you know already, a software development process framework, which helps to develop a product. The 3 key roles in scrum process are: the Product owner (determines what needs to be done) the Scrum master (makes sure the rules are followed) and the Team who actually does all the work. The first week I came here, we had great scrum training with Bob who became my Scrum master and since then I am having scrum meetings every day for 15 minutes. That's one of the things I like about Scrum, as the whole team talks a lot to each other, so you always know what's happening. Of course it might seem like another meeting in an already busy schedule for someone, but since it is only 15 minutes and you talk about how is the work going on your tasks, the meeting is helpful and usually passes very quickly.
The work is organized in Sprints, where one sprint takes usually a month or less and after every sprint, new product is released and you evaluate your progress after each sprint ends. That’s called Sprint retrospective and basically you talk about what went well and what didn’t.
So, when you organize your work in Sprints, another important thing is having sprint planning sessions regularly - the team goes through all the tasks and estimates their "hardness" - we call it Scrum Poker in here and its a great fun. Basically, after the Product owner writes down what needs to be done into the Product Backlog (like a to-do list) scrum master chooses the tasks, prioritize them and every member of the team shows their estimates (on a scale 3-20) - if they match than there is no discussion, if the numbers doesn't match you discuss, why do you think its an 8 for example (the difficulty) until all of the members agree on a difficulty level for each task. That's it! If you want to know more about scrum you can read this scrum guide or you can try to play a scrum game!
And people are like: “Are you gonna miss New York?” - and I am like: “of course I am gonna miss New York, it´s like the fucking best city in the World!” (at New York Harbor)
