FATOU JALLOW and KIEU MY VU: their story [insp.]

Ah yes. Me. My girlfriend. And her five royal Naboo handmaidens.

I don’t know you anymore… Anakin, you’re breaking my heart. You’re going down a path I can’t follow. STAR WARS: EPISODE III - REVENGE OF THE SITH (2005) dir. George Lucas
“When Fýredel closed his jaws, all was silent. Black vapours billowed from the tower, clearing slowly. Ead waited, heart tight as a drum, until she saw the figure in the smoke. Sabran Berethnet was unscathed. ‘It is my turn to give you a warning. A warning from my forebear,’ she said breathlessly, ‘that if you make war against Virtudom, this hallowed blood will quench your fire. And it will not return.’“
-The Priory of the Orange Tree by @sshannonauthor
can you believe that Padmé used Threepio to deliver her sexts to Anakin
Every generation has a legend…
Queen’s Shadow 9/??? Sabé knelt in front of her and took her hands. Padmé knew that her dearest friend would see her weariness no matter how she tried to hide it, so she didn’t. Sabé looked her straight in the face, as she had always done, and the message in her eyes was clear as crystal. We are brave, Your Highness. -E.K Johnston
Queen’s Shadow 8/??? Padmé Amidala was completely still. The brown halo of her hair spread out around her, softened here and there by white blossoms that had blown through the air to find their rest amongst her curls. Her skin was pale and perfect. Her face was peaceful. Her eyes were closed and her hands were clasped across her stomach as she floated. Naboo carried on without her. Even now, at the end, she was watched. -E.K. Johnston
Queen’s Shadow 6/??? “‘We’?” Padmé said, her heart in her mouth. “Of course we,” Sabé said. “You haven’t tied your own shoelaces in four years. You’re going to need all the help you can get.” “That is not fair or true,” Padmé said, laughing as she descended from the platform on Sabé’s arm. -Queen’s Shadow, E.K. Johnston
Cordé had begun sketching new styles for Amidala’s hair that relied less on structural aids and more on discreet pins. The pins—designed and made by Cordé’s jeweler sister—could, in a pinch, double as weapons or tools, yet they were small enough to make it through most security scans. Versé and Sabé had worked together on outfits for even more mobility: jumpsuits and the like that could be combined with dramatic capes to remind everyone of Amidala’s status without getting in her way. -Queen’s Shadow, E.K. Johnston
“What will you do?” Tonra asked. From her parents, that question would mean, “What will you do without her?” It was a question they had been asking Sabé for years, and she never had an answer for them, because she never considered life without Padmé’s direction. From Tonra, there was more nuance. He knew what she had done in Padmé’s service, after all. He wasn’t asking what she would do without. He was asking what she would do because. He knew her too well to imagine she would do nothing. She had walked with the surviving handmaidens in the funeral procession. They had barely spoken. Their grief was deep and profound but difficult to explain to those outside their select circle. Naboo had lost a senator, a hero, a queen. They had lost the friend they had all—every one of them over the years—risked their lives for. They hadn’t taken those risks for politics or for Naboo or for the now-defunct Republic. They had taken them for Padmé, because they loved her. And now she was gone. “I’m going to find out what happened to my friend,” Sabé said. She got up and began to pace the small room. She couldn’t sit still anymore. She couldn’t stay on this paradise of a world while there were dreadful secrets for her to uncover. Cordé was dead. Versé was dead. Obi-Wan was dead. Master Billaba was dead. Anakin Skywalker was dead. Padmé Amidala Naberrie was dead, her dreams with her. -Queen’s Shadow, E.K. Johnston
“Look at how fast the world turns when you ask it to,” Sabé said. “You should know,” Padmé said. “You’re the one turning it.” “I won’t let you fall off,” Sabé told her. She reached out, and Padmé took her hands. “I know,” Padmé said. -Queen’s Shadow, E.K Johnston
Queen’s Shadow 7/??? “They’ll stall you,” Organa said. “I know it’s a horrifying situation, but you can’t fight every evil in the galaxy.” “Evil?” Padmé said. “I’ve fought evil and it was easy: I shot it. It’s apathy I can’t stand.” “You may be in the wrong profession,” Gaans said darkly. -E.K. Johnston
this was supposed to be funnier than it actually came out
youve done it! youve boiled being in your early twenties down to its bare essentials!
