More getting ready and leaving for the ceremony!
Photos of the bride getting ready from my most recent wedding!
Baby Nolan's Baptism
This was SO fun for me as a photographer!!
I love to take photos (obviously!), but I definitely like a change of pace every here and there! A baby baptism was a first, and I couldn't be happier with how these photos came out! Nolan is SUCH a cutie, he was a trooper on this freezing cold February morning! He did so well for so many photos, a LONG time for a baby!
Also, my husband served as a second shooter, his first time out!! And he ROCKED it. So proud of the great photos he got!
Oh, Baby Liam, you are are a sweetie!
Mom and Dad tied airplanes into his room and photos because of extended families love for airplanes, and Dad's grandfather flying planes in the service! i LOVE when things like this are incorporated in photo sessions, it makes them extra special!
My Dad is incredibly handy and made me the airplane drawer to use as a prop for him, and I couldn't be happier with how it turned out!
Is there anything more precious in life than this?!?
Meet Baby Ryker, one of the sleepiest, most content kids I've had the pleasure of photographing! I love all photography, but kids and little ones hold a big chunk of my heart! I love their honesty. It doesn't get any more real than photographing a 3 year old throwing a tantrum! The good news in, the mood swings can be brutal, but kids are usually happy again within a few minutes, and on to happier photos!
TONS of people made New Year's resolutions this year! Probably just about everyone did, from those that set out to make a resolution, to the "After the beginning of the year, I'm going to _____!!".
I fall into that second category! EVERY year i set some kind of goals for myself. Losing weight is on the list every year, but I usually gain! BESIDES that, I DO try and stick with whatever resolution I make! This year, like many other years, I want to improve my photography. I know your shocked, right?
I know some people think my work is great! I have had so many happy clients, and I've been so blessed by each and every kind word. But! I still want to improve. There is ALWAYS room to grow, and become a better photographer, and a better person a long the way!
This year though, I've decided to step a little out of my comfort zone. I haven't taken on weddings in the past. I was always happy to give someone a price, and scared to death they would hire me. I took on one wedding last year, it was a fairly simple wedding, low key, mostly family. I took tons of photos, it was pretty face paced. And you know? I kind of loved it.
This year I resolved in large to take on some risks. Step out of my comfort zone and challenge myself a little more. Put a little faith in myself, and even more in God, and KNOW that I can do this. And help to make some blissful couples day memorable. 30 years from now, their kids and grandkids can look back on the memories I captured on film, and get a small bit of that love, that is the reason they are here.
All in all, I get to capture SO many precious times. Marriages, babies, kids, families, extended families, seniors. Now really. What's better than that?
My other baby out with us last evening! She is my snow and cold girl, can't get enough of running around in it! She is definitely better equipped than we were, with about 10 layers of fur! Not joking. It's SO hard to find her skin under all that!!! As much fun as she was having, she's never out longer than we are. All these stories of pets being out in this weather are breaking my heart.
Onto happier thoughts! I am so in love with my new photography logo!!! I hope you all are too because much to my husbands dismay I spent HOURS trying to decide what I liked best!
I really should have been using them all along, but like so many things it just kind of slipped through the cracks, and it wasn't something I was overly concerned with, but.
Really.
When photos are on the web, people steal. My clients receive all of their photos, I don't mean people print photos I don't want them to. I mean people Photoshop others out of photos and put their clients in. People build an entire website with others photos to get hired. Totally blows my mind. I wouldn't want anyone using my photos to lie and deceive like that. So! Logos are definitely back for good!
Really excited about this month! Don't get me wrong. December is always SO busy, and FUN, and I LOVE Christmas! Favorite holiday. Hands down.
BUT. I feel like it's just a little too busy, and I don't have the time between sessions to be as creative as I'd like! AND when working with little one's and toddlers, you get what you get. Meaning even if I come up with something super creative and fun, the chances of it actually happening ware about -20 to -100% on any given day. Which I really don't mind either! I love their honesty, in pretty much all forms.
Then January rolls back around and things come to a SCREECHING halt, and the sessions are fewer and farther between! It isn't as good in the way of making a living, and I miss seeing everyone!! But for my photography it's a much needed hiatus.
January is EXACTLY what I need, where it needs to be! This month is full of maternity sessions, and my *first* teaching class, which I am WAY more excited about than I probably need to be, I can't wait! I've wanted to do something like this for quite some time! There is nothing i like better than talking shop, and my family is pretty grateful I've found new subjects to tell it to. Very grateful.
Did I mention I love January?
Like all photographers this time of year, life has been busy for the last couple of months! Fall is always a busy season! A crazy busy season!
I was out of the game for a couple weeks while recovering from eye surgery... Eye surgery and photographer you ask? My vision is great. 20/20. My eyes however are... eh. I've been a type 1 diabetes for many years, and eye issues are (usually) part of the problem. I'm still recovering but things are looking great, everything went very well!
Anyways! Today was our first snowfall of the year! It was sort of messy, and melty, but boy. Have I missed snow!!!! Don't remind me I said this after Christmas. It's great though! ... Unless your my son. Hard to tell from these photos! These were taken in the 2 minutes of happiness he enjoyed, until he realized "it", the snow, was "getting" him. And MELTING on him. And then, it got ugly... FAST. He couldn't make it stop touching him! We came into the garage and he excitedly ran over to his little battery powered 4-wheeler and looked at me, SO hopefully. I thought quickly and said "If you take that out, you will get snow on it.". Win! He begrudgingly came back in the house and proceeded to point at the snow and whine when my Mom asked him about the snow. Poor kid. Maybe next year.
I think tomorrow we're going to try for cookies! I haven't baked in.... well..... It's been awhile!! A 22 month old, cookies with raw eggs, the oven... What could go wrong? Wish me luck!!! :-) Christine
Did I ever mention on here that I love this job? Things have been SO busy lately, and I love busy. I like going from one session to the next and always having a lot to work on! But then things like websites and blogs tend to suffer... As much as I love this job, and love the business, occasionally, websites and blogs end up becoming the vegetable of photography.
You know, when you were little and someone told you "You can't leave the table until you eat your broccoli."? That's what websites and blogs boil down to. I love taking photos. I really love sharing them. But by the time I get my son to bed, my editing done, my files ready to go for print or web, discs ready to mail, I just want to sleep!! The whole point of this post was that I made it this far! I updated Facebook, sent e-mails, updated my website (http://www.simpletruthphotography.com ), and now I'm moments away from my head hitting the keyboard!
On a much brighter note! Tomorrow afternoon I have an awesome 1st birthday session with sweet Lucy! I've taken photos of her all along and I always love my time with her! She is such a beautiful happy girl! Then over the weekend a family session and kids session ( with a 3 week old baby in tow!!!)! SO thankful for the warm weather, I'm going to miss it when it's gone! More updates soon to come! Christine
The last few days have been horrible!!! I know so many people were disappointed with cooler temperatures this Summer, but I was not in that camp! Nowhere near that camp actually. Now that the kids are back in school it's hot! And when it's too warm out, we aren't out all afternoon. But, then evening comes. A cool front ( I'm not going to go as far as to call it a cold front) came through. There was this gentle breeze, blue skies, and beautiful sunset! And then there was this! My son is NEVER as happy as when he's outside, and tonight was no exception. I love everything about this photo! The hair blowing all crazy in the wind, the huge smile as he's running, and the shirt just tops it off. "Hello, my name is Trouble"! I look forward to cool Fall days on their way, more smiles and fun, and no more diaper pictures!
Not just any photographer gets an amazing shot like this. lol! Our neighbors cows escaped for the day, and while enjoying the grass, this mama got a bit thirsty!

"Photography, at its best, is a powerful language which speaks to our emotions. It allows us to tell our story and show others our framing of the world around us." -Declan O'Neil
Had an awesome session tonight! Got to take photos of my sister-in-law and some of her and her boyfriend together. I LOVE this one, it's my favorite of what I've gotten to editing so far. The sky. The field. The cute kids holding hands. If all of the photos are half this good I'd be more than pleased! I love sessions like this that are a little laid back and fun! Can't wait to get them all edited and added to the website, but it's late and I'm exhausted! Hopefully my boy has a better night tonight, Mama can sleep, and tomorrow night back to the editing board! ;-)
