From a preservation standpoint it could help textile and art conservators approximate the pigments used to color different objects since over time pigments break down. Chemically, each pigment has a slight variation so when they go to repair something faded or soiled they may be able to pinpoint the exact shade they need to restore. I like to think of it like a seed library but for colors.

Pigments also indicate the era in which they were available. They tell a lot about the media available to artists, and in turn give art context. It’s part of our human history. That’s the point.

WTF??? This ridiculous persian cat room guardian I made like 4 years ago is going viral. I posted these photos on DA before I ever used a watermark. I just added the watermark now so the originals can’t be used without some sort of credit, but the damage has already been done……this cat is everywhere.
