I am in love
i remember looking at myself. i took a shower, and i looked at myself in the mirror. and i’m not wearing any clothes, and i had a terrible self-image because of this unhealthy relationship i was in. and i just remember looking at myself in the face, and looking in my eyes and being like — “you haven’t been treated the way that you deserve to be treated. and there’s got to be someone out there that sees you, and actually sees you. and it’s not the person you’re with, and it has never been the person that you’re with. and so, you need to figure that out.”
hayley williams, anna faris podcast (2021)
I went to catholic school, which is maybe why I had this experience but also, I think sex education in general is just L A C K I N G because it’s pretty wild that I literally was lead to believe in high school that if a boy so much as looked at me sideways I'd get pregnant so then when we decided we’d start trying for a baby and it didn’t work straight away I was concerned we were dealing with infertility because I was legitimately taught nothing about how ovulation works and how hard it actually can be to get pregnant. idk, maybe it’s just my experience or I’m a bit silly or something but it actually just seems more like it was easier to try and scare us out of sexual experiences than educate us properly? meanwhile there was a point in time where my area had like the highest percentage of a particular STI in my state... seems like maybe we shoulda just been taught about safe sex and protection rather than fear idk
