Once Valentina gets home she immediately goes up to her room and calls Thalia. It may be near midnight but this is important. “Thalia! He asked me to move in with him!” Valentina says excitedly as soon as Thalia picks up the phone. “Woah wait? move in?” Thalia says a few moments after. Based on her tone, Valentina isn’t sure how to make out what her sister is feeling.

“Yea… Thalia like you said he’s so sweet… gosh, he’s so wonderful. I do feel happier when I’m with him, stuff feels easier. I think I love him…” Thalia is silent for a bit, “Are you sure about this now, you don’t have to move in with him right now, you could live on your own for a bit..”

“Yea… I guess I could… but I mean… it’s not like he asked me to marry him or anything…” Valentina says trying to ease the slight tension. She hears Thalia scoff over the phone, “Don’t let Junior hear you say that… Well if you want to, he is a good guy, I’d support you.” Valentina feels a weight lifted off her, “I haven’t made a final decision yet… I told him I’d need to think about it… possibly talk to mom and dad…”

Something

It's getting late and getting closer to Valentina’s curfew. Her mom is already texting her about coming home. As they make their way to leave the park Brycen stops her for a second. “Actually there’s something I wanted to ask you. Obviously, I know your birthday is coming up, you’ve mentioned possibly moving out of your parent's house… would you like to or consider moving in with me….” Valentina doesn’t answer right away and the Brycen starts babbling, “I mean you don’t have to I totally understand if you want to wait or even just not all togeth-“ Valentina pulls him into a quick kiss to stop his babbling, “Hey, thank you. That sounds… that sounds really nice, but let me think about it a bit more, maybe run it by my parents…” Brycen gets a huge smile on his face and kisses her so hard that they both resolve into laughter.

Nervous

They get to the park and Valentina is slowing feeling less nervous. Neither of them knows much about the stars or constellations but they are still very nice to look at.

“I- I was a bit nervous when you said you wanted to leave the karaoke place,” Valentina says when there's a lull in the conversation. Brycen looks at her with a concerned face, “How come?” Valentina takes a deep breath and looks away from him, “I… I wasn’t sure if.. if you’d want to… to have….” Brycen reaches over to hold her hand, “I’m sorry if anything I did gave you that impression… I don’t want you to feel like you have to do anything. I lo- I care about you. I want you to feel comfortable. I don’t want you to feel like you have to do anything.” Valentina feels butterflies in her stomach. This boy really is wonderful.

Wanna go somewhere?

They are both laughing while they leave the Karaoke place. Their date hasn’t been going on for very long and they still very much want to be with each other for a little while longer.

“So since this was kind of a bust, do you want to go somewhere else?” Brycen says in a soft voice leaning into Valentina. Valentina immediately thinks back to what Thalia was saying. Does he want to…. Valentina feels her heart race, she not sure about that…

“Where do you have in mind?” Valentina finally says looking over to him as they are walking away from the karaoke place. He smiles a grand smile to her, “I was thinking the park? We are right by it anyway. Probably won't be much to do over there, but the stars might be pretty.”

Loud

Both Valentina and Brycen have been trying to get into the vibe of the karaoke place, but it just doesn’t seem to be happening. It's very loud and most of the people that are singing are not very good at all. At one point Valentina is trying to tell him something and he can’t hear her but he reaches over to hold her hand.

They both give each other a look that clearly means, karaoke is not for them.

A few days after they visited Nicolette’s parents, Nicolette is still a little confused. “How are you feeling, love?” Nicolette smiles, “Physically, a little achy pretty tired… Emotionally… I don’t know. I’m happy on one hand but also weirdly aggravated? I’m a little angry that only now they are trying to be better… I guess later is better than never.” Manny nods his head and moves to have Nicolette lie so he can massage her shoulders. “At least they are trying, keep an open mind.”

After both Manny and Nicolette meet Roxanne and play with her a bit, all of the grown-ups sit in the living room for a bit. Emmitt gives his wife a bit of a nudge, she rolls her eyes before talking.

“We… we really want the two of you, well three of you involved with Roxanne… Nicolette, I know we weren’t the absolute best parent ever, but we want to try to be better and I think that it can be better if you two are also involved.” Nicolette feels taken aback, her parents, acknowledging that they didn’t do the best job, strange.

Manny reaches over and grabs her hand and smiles at her, “Yes, that would be wonderful… We’d love that.” Nicolette finally answers her mom. “Yea we would,” Manny says shortly after her in a soft voice.
