The wider 40k fandom is sleeping on Prodigal Sons polycule. Is dying for the sake of your brother more than once not romantic for you? Also, I find it extremely funny that out of all books and short stories, Undying is the one where Ctesias appears to be at his kindest, and that's where he grows on Lycomedes, the pupil he gets in Eternal. That was supposed to be a part of Ahriman's attemp at reconciliation between Ctesias and Gaumata but damn bro... Did Ahriman really look at Ctesias, say "I can fix him" and give him a baby? 🤨 ignore the fact that the baby is almost as old as Ctesias. Lycomedes is stupid and kinda smug in a childish way okay

Just had these thoughts, I figure someone may want to see this so I post.

Harlan Ellison’s works had a very strong impact on me. Despite obvious issues such as misogyny and being a generally unpleasant person, I found his works simple yet profound. Then I played fallout4 and immediately went “hey that’s the boy and the dog, vaults and all” and there’s even references towards psychic and talking dog. Then I played fallout3 and I met president Eden, and I thought about I have no mouth but I must scream. This short story had such a huge impact on me and I will fall for every creature who has existential issues. And unfortunately I am also a big EVA fan, also Lem, also JG Ballard. I know that fo3 is not technically well-written but I love its main narrative, right up to my alley and I grew intense attachment to my lone. This game held a special place in my heart. I love it, a desolate world and a lonely young adult, and yet there is light and there’s future. Thinking about this game makes me emotional.
