Super secret start call (may contact for plotting.)
As Father Kastner begins, Prissy squishes her toes in the fine dirt of the back roads path. Not out of insolence to ignore him, but just something that has come to sooth her. He was one of the few exceptions of the town. He always seemed to be genuine, even if her father didn't approve of the "new age" pastors. As he has always put it. Regardless of her feelings now, she is willing to hear him out, hear out his kindness. If only to ease the toll it took on him. ❝Its alrigh', of course. Why, I'd invite ya inside, but ..❞ her head turns to look over her shoulder. Not at the ashes and charred remains of her home, but to the barn. ❝I really don't think it's the kind of thing you would find too comfortable. I've had a lot of complaints, y'see.❞ of course, she ignores and never comments on how she must be feeling.
There's a small smile at his retort, though she meant no harm. Truly believing all pastors wrote out what they planned to say the night before. ❝Here I thought you lot always wrote in a tizzy the prior to it,❞ with her hands behind her back she rocks back and forth for a moment. ❝you're tellin' me nothin' I already know..oh, it just feels right silly to let folks feel sorry for me. S'not gunna bring my family or house back.❞ lips flicker into a frown, if only for a moment. Dark eyes cast back to him. ❝-could I get you some peach tea? I haven' got any ice. But I swear it's still just as sweet. ❞
Eyes squint in the sun, watching the horizon of the arrival of yet another person. By now, she has received dozens of visits. Gifts of clothes, food && the like. She had many offers to stay with someone when each discovered she had been staying in the loft of the family barn. Had she not been an adult, she was sure someone would have had that decision made for her. Luckily, that was not the case.
She preferred it this way. It felt amazing. At any moment, if she wanted, she could just LEAVE && never look back. With nothing but a barn full of hay, feed, seed && tools to leave behind. For now, she would stay. There was something serene about sleeping upon the hay, listening to the farms animals, cicadas && owls in the distance. To see the stars in the inky black sky whenever she opened the loft door.
What she didn't like was the intruding.
With her hand acting as a shield from the sun, the figure became more clear. Father Kastner. Prissy would then jump down from the pine fencing she had been perched on. Leaning on her toes, arms stretched in the air to stretch out her back. Giving a content yawn, she would meet him the last two yards of his walk.
❝'mornin', Father,❞ brown hues stare at him, skeptically. Almost sure she would get a lecture about 'the lors plan' or 'mysterious ways.' ❝ Shouldn' you be workn' on tomorrows sermon, or somethin' ?❞
