Ring around the Allie. Her heart raced and slight trepidation entered her nerves. Could it be below all of his snark and playful jabs laid true care? After all, he didn't appear too keen on allowing them to catch a case of pneumonia while surrendered to the night. For once she smiled to herself at his protective nature. The draw of being cared for. A sight unseen for years by her, truly.
"Has anyone ever told you that you can be pretty bossy?" A note of teasing sarcasm and Allie rolled her eyes before standing on exhausted feet, arms stretched up into the late night sky as if her fingertips could press against the moon and hold the light near and dear. Maybe the touch would act as an illuminating guide for her soul.
Her nose scrunched in jest. Though, before following alongside him, she bent down to retrieve the fallen posy. Somehow it was clear to find amidst the others that had previously been discarded from her body upon rising from the grass. The nearly average flower was brought to her eyeline momentarily before being tucked away for somewhat safe keeping. Sure, the petals may be squashed in the morning but the memory within would still hold. The tribute being a secret, of course. Her rather enjoyment to his little... quirks. The small things were the best overall.
"Mmm, I'm good. Why would I let you have all the fun? Nah. I think I'll stay up until we get to my dad's. Gotta make sure we don't end up at a diner for forty minutes if you suddenly have a sweet tooth." Blue eyes became firmly planted on him as she joined alongside, skipping enthusiastically to the car as if to further her teasing.
But it wasn't about the idea of him stopping for a midnight slice. Hell, she'd quite enjoy a 1am lemon meringue. No, keeping him distracted with other... things - that was the goal. Her rest would leave him alone with his thoughts and she had other times to sleep, such as when her body was shelled into a casket. As people said - sleep was for the dead. Why waste their time alive without the comfort of each other?
