This is a before & after of a decorative accent peek through from the kitchen to the dining area. The spindles just screamed old. This is a before & after picture of my personal project I call the "Cozy Condo" on Pinterest. This is the one & only bathroom in my 1 bedroom condo. It had mold in the wall where the window is because of a pinhole leak from the upstairs unit. I discovered it shortly before moving in to the Condo. When I tore out the tub enclosure I found that all of the fiberglass insulation contained mold. So we removed the tub enclosure & sprayed closed foam insulation (which is waterproof) and decided to tile the tub wall all the way behind the vanity & around the toilet. I found the large ceramic tile at Costco for a steal & decided to accent it with a cascade of Italian mosaic glass tile I found at Home Depot, it was a little spendy per sheet but well worth the price to add the accent cascade. My story

Hello out there, thanks for taking the time to visit my blog. I am a complete newbie to all of this technology stuff. I am a single mom of 5 children, ages ranging from 14 to 5. One girl & 4 boys. I became a single mom the summer of 2011, by no fault of my own (as I am sure that many can relate). It was quite unexpected & a nightmare to say the least. Let’s just say there was a restraining order, child protective services & lots of court time. It took us about 2 years to finalize the divorce & 3 to finally get him out of my life. During that time, my youngest 2 boys that I had with him were 2 & 3 when it happened. I had a full time job that I loved, but with the stress of divorce & trying to care for my babies, I inevitably lost my job. With that loss I would go on to lose my home & what felt like on some days, my sanity. A friend of mine generously offered that I work with him in his start up venture of construction. The hours were flexible & I could learn as I go. So I took it as a stop gap, not thinking that it would eventually lead me down a certain path & vision that I will later share with you. Taking care of the young ones was my priority, so I started a career in construction. Weeks turned to months & a year came & went. My friend suggested I get my contractors license, because then we could start doing our own projects without needing to work under another general contractor (which was kind of a horrible experience itself). It made me realize that the construction business needed something different then what is currently available. Not to say that all contractors are sketchy, but many general contractors are dishonest- to put it lightly. In my short time in the industry I found that they cheated their subcontractors & held the homeowner hostage to their poor work ethics. As a homeowner in the past who has had work done, dealing with contractors can be scary. They schmooze their way into your home, talk fast, cut corners, over promise & under deliver. At the end of the process, you just want them to finish & leave. As a subcontractor I was helpless to do anything except the part that I was paid to do & we did it well. That is when it started to make sense that I should enter the business. My intention is to build a company that runs on integrity & quality. I never want a homeowner to feel like a hostage in their own home. The past few years have been extremely rough on me, staying home to care for my boys, working when I have some free time. But every night I was able to tuck my boys into bed & wake up to their smiling faces every morning. I lost the townhouse that we bought together to foreclosure & luckily I was able to move into a condo that my parents had bought a few years ago down the street from us. Downside is that I went from a 3 bedroom 3 bath, down to a 1 bedroom 1 bath. 😖 So this is the beginning of my journey as a single mother trying to make a legacy that will make my children proud.
