Zethrid was calming down now, and was actually quite relaxed. Her hands unclenched and her jaw slacked just a little. Breathe. Just breathed. The taller Galra was happy to feel the harder squeeze on her shoulder. It was actually needed.
Her dark hues looked as her friend sign, “ I’m okay, ” she repeated once again, trying to avoid her own troubles.
Even though she tried to ignore her own situations, Narti never seemed to let them drop. It was natural to care for one another, so could she actually blame Narti?
One of her ears flicked as she brought up the mission. Narti was right, no one is angry but her. Now this frustrated Zethrid even more. How come she couldn’t relax like the others?
“ I know, I just…I hate that I…” she paused, just letting the silence take over the two.
She knew. Zethrid didn’t have to say it.
They had known each other long enough that Narti didn’t need her vision to see her friend’s distress - to feel the way her anger boiled inside, and she wished she could take on some of it herself. She was no stranger to anger, but being surrounded by friends had actually eased it...if only it did the same for Zethrid.
I know, but it’s done.
Looking into the past never benefited anyone. Each time one of them delved in, it only resulted in anger and heartbreak. Narti wished she could simply erase the memories so she wouldn’t fall into their trap.
We’re safe now.
