Retro & Rockabilly shopping on Taobao
This is a collection of links to stores on the Chinese shopping website Taobao that carry 40’s, 50’s and sometimes 60’s style/influenced clothes. For those new to Taobao, I’ve included some information about it. If you’d like to learn more than is covered here just google how to shop on Taobao and you will find there are many, many in-depth guides on the subject.

That sound? That sound was the sound of my jaw hitting the floor. Two dudes, an invitational Jack and Jill, and some DAMN FINE ambidancetrous dancing.
[Plus it’s playful and fun and funny and not just played for laughs that two dudes are dancing together and it’s a real conversation and I just really like it a lot]
YES YES YES YES YES all of this.
Keep watching, at least until 2:40.

Swingularity Issue #15: How you know you’re dancing with me
I can’t be sure, but I get the feeling I confuse a lot of the people I dance with.
Swing dancing last night went EXCELLENTLY
-I focused and worked on some important basics, including pulse and connecting with my lead's hand on my back
-I had my first blues dance, which was more of a fake-it-til-ya-make-it kind of thing than anythings else, but I successfully followed most of the moves and had fun shaking my pelvis around, and my partner said I did really good!
-I learned and successfully implemented a new move, not once but several times :-)
-I implemented swivels... successfully? I don't know how good they looked, but they didn't trip up my footwork and other people were definitely able to recognize what they were so I'm going to call that a success.
-I had SO MUCH FUN! and worked hard. :-) I'm hella sore today, but so worth it
Finally get to go swing dancing tonight! Goal for the night: try implementing my much-practiced new swivels into my swing out. Wish me luck!
for anyone who, like me, desperately wants to be able to 20s charleston
Very useful information on feeling the differences between being led into different steps starting at around 3:18. Not sure if this is useful to anyone else, but it's definitely something I want to improve on as a relatively beginner lindy hopper!
things to work on
-consistency of pulse
-feeling and understanding the difference between being led into a triple step or a step-step/rock step
-wrist frame/keeping shoulders squared to wrists
-stretch connection

I’m absolutely in LOVE with this routine!
well since swing dancing was cancelled tonight due to nutty weather, I might as well take this time to introduce myself to the tag. I'm Jess, and I'm a 17-year-old Boston-area Lindy Hopper. :-) I've only been dancing since October, although it's rapidly devolving into an addiction. Currently learning to follow, with ambidanceterous aspirations. And... yeah! I'm pretty friendly and I'd love anyone who'll chat with me about lindy hop. And I'm always looking to learn new things!
