Small Update

Yesterday I came home and laid down with a huge migraine headache. The next thing I knew Merlin was licking me and it was after 11 PM! I picked up my first meat and egg share. Lots of goodies. Forgot to take a pic but tonight I am cooking two HUGE and I mean HUGE pork chops. They are over a pound combined. The farm  providing these is local and free range. The Week Ahead

Not much to really report on from me as I am in a spiritual funk still. But looking to the week ahead: 1. Tomorrow I am off. Hooray. But this means I work Saturday. 2. Work this week Tuesday-Saturday. Only work the front desk/research room one time this week. 3. Tuesday I am picking up my first month of a meat and egg share. Well the eggs are actually a half share. A quick update. Hope to get back into blogging again. Lots of things going on. Today we found out my dad is losing his toe, a complication from diabetes and not the accident. It was already infected before then. I’m also staying on track with weight watchers. Tomorrow is weigh in for week 2. I am doing the online program and not the meetings.

March 23 Update

Not much going on. I have yet to get back into a Lenten swing of things. My mind has been preoccupied by my father and my sister who is trying to take care of him. I say trying because my dad can be stubborn.

The last few days have been crazy. Last Wednesday my dad came into town for a visit. He stayed with us to save the money he would have spent on a hotel room and mom let him stay in her room and she bunked with me on my futon. My dad left this morning to go back home. My sister got a phone call from dad or so she thought. It was the police in Missouri telling her dad was in a bad accident, the car was totaled and dad was on his way to a hospital. I just had to delete some of what I had written because my sister just updated us. Dad is in ICU and will be at the hospital for most of the next week due to injuries…

Lenten Diary Day 3

This is a short update on my 2014 Lenten journey. Yesterday was a pretty hard day mainly because I got some rough news that threw me off for the rest of the day. Last week my dad, also a diabetic, went to the ER with a sore toe. It was infected. Yesterday he let us know the doctor thinks the infection is spreading into the bone. This is not good. Lenten Diary Days 1 & 2

Yesterday I didn’t get to go to mass. The roads were still horrible in the morning and would be the only time I could get to mass via public transportation to mass, so no ashes. But I still had a meaningful Ash Wednesday. When I came home I turned off the tv for most of the evening, prayed and read. I need to spend less time off the computer and more time elsewhere.
