Physical contact is such a big part of Gyjo's relationship because both of them are emotionally constipated to the point of physical pain if they were to ever try and be verbally affectionate.

So they lean on each other and they would die for one another and Gyro is the only one Johnny has trusted I years. Johnny is the only reason Gyro allows himself sentimentality. And Johnny gave up the literal corpse of God for Gyro and Gyro gave up everything for Johnny.

But they would get really awkward if they ever said anything near "I love you" or even "I care about you."

Themes of sexual violence in jjba.

Inspired by @casualcontortionist post about Dio.

When I first consumed jjba one of the things that really stood out to me was the large amount of sexual violence that happens in the series. I've only read up until the end of sbr but from memory I can't think of a single part that didn't include it.

TW: talk of rape, sexual assault, grooming, and realized sexual violence under cut

A non-exhaustive list of explicit sa based off of memory:

Dio forcing a kiss onto Erina

Dio releasing a zombie minion onto Poco's Sister who almost rapes her (memory is fuzzy on this one)

Multiple instances of Nazis sexually assaulting native women

A orangutan that almost rapes a child

Polnareff' sister who is murder raped

The water serial killer from the start of the series having murder raped multiple boys

Yoshikage Kira and literally all of his victims

The woman Mista saves from being raped

Fugo being groomed, sexually pressured, and nearly assaulted by his old professor while he was still a young teen

Melones stand baby face forcing itself onto the woman on the train

Jolyne being forced to bend over naked for the corrupt cops power play

Diego's mom being pressured to have sex with her employer then harassed after refusing

Ringo Roadagain was almost raped as a child after his family was murdered by his attempted rapist

Funny Valentine graphically raping Lucy Steel on page

And despite that being such a long list it still doesn't cover any of the things in the series that carry the scent of sexual violence, exploitation, and grooming.

There's quite a few good examples of this underlying tone of sa in regards to Dio so let's go over those for my explanation.

Dio is often scene shirtless and rubbing Jonathan's body while staring in the mirror during part 3. I truly believe that Dio would have a complex about having sex using Jonathan's body and considering that he manages to have 4 known kids during this time make my suspicious of him being gross about having Jonathan's body as his own feel more substantiated.

Kakyoin is isolated from his family and brainwashed by Dio and then forgets most of his time with Dio via the brainwashing and what I believe to be a trauma blackout. We get no further knowledge on what Dio does to Kakyoin during this time but the scenes and information we do get all feels like Dio is trying to seduce Kakyoin who is very much a teenager, minor, and child.

Pucci is definitely groomed by Dio thats not up for debate but whether or not it was sexual in nature isn't explicitly stated but heavily implied. Dio gets far to close to Pucci with their faces only a few cm apart, he's seen laying in his bed with Pucci and puts his hands on Pucci multiple times without Pucci reacting negatively. Far to enamored with Dio to care about his own well being. I ask you to please rember that Pucci was also a minor when he knew Dio.

There is a reason why Dio as a character has so much of this underlying tone of SV about him. Sexual assault is one of the most immoral things you can do against another. It shows a utter lack of regard or empathy for another person's will, autonomy, and body inflicting life long trauma all for the sake for the attackers own validation.

Dio doesn't care for other people, their life, their bodies, their trauma. All that mattered to Dio was his own wants. He wanted money and power so he killed George Joestar and didn't ask. He wanted power so he turned himself into a vampire and tried to turn Jonathan too. He wanted sex, as seen by his 4 kids, so I don't believe this would be where he draws the line.

And the sexual violence fits into a larger trend of gratuitous body horror. As sexual violence is categorically a type of body horror (as seen best with Lucy Steel) does have it's place in its JoJo's.

But it's execution can be iffy at times. I feel like alot of the sexual violence in part 2 (one of my favorite parts) really drops the ball on how serious it can be while part 7 I feel like has the best execution of it I've seen done in JoJo's yet.

Ringo Roadagain's assault was taken seriously by the narrative despite him being male, which is very rare for the genre. And despite how graphic and uncomfortable Lucy Steel's assault was it really showed how horrific of a villain he was and is treated with a seriousness that makes you nauseous. The pregnancy with a corpse head also is a horrific but impactful repression of being pregnant with your rapists baby.

This isn't to say that part 7 gets it perfect (Mountain Tim being a favored character despite trying to get with a 14 year old is not okay nor normal and should of had more consequences) but it's definitely a more impactful, non voyeuristic depiction of sv that I've seen in Manga.

Giorno would take Fugo to events in the same way people bring their partners, he has Fugo over to his house more often than not, they spend a lot of their free time just sitting in each other's company. I think it would confuse Fugo for a bit on where he stands until he stumbles across the definition of queer platonic, while fucking off on a mission or something, and suddenly his entire world makes sense.

Never forget my friends that Giorno Giovanna defeated Diavol the advent of the seventh day after six days and nights of intense battle.

Giorno Giovanna. Whose name comes from good morning and literally means daylight. Defeats the Devil. On the morning of the SEVENTH DAY in which after they get to rest after a week of nonstop labor.

Sometimes stuff in Vento Aureo feels less like biblical allusions and more like just straight up plain text.
