I forgot to mention that I bought another 2023 furby last december, she’s been sitting on my desk since without a name till i finally settled on Marzipan ✨

has anyone tried skinning a 2023 furblet? i have one that has an ear that wont fold down no matter what and i think it might need to be put back in place but i won't know till i can get a better look

well here goes i guess! pried the ears back out and unplugged them again, the cables came much easier this time

then i snapped the ears back into their sockets, remember to make sure the first gear is on top of the white part! took me multiple tries, i ended up using a tool to push the white part down while i did it

and of course, plus the cable back in.

there are clips on the plastic around the base of the ear (and others places), but im not going to fret too much about them. some just slot between the front and back shell but i think the only ones that dont but i’ll try to re-insert are the faceplate ones

checked that the light still worked before continuing

screwed the ears in, then took the heart gem off (dont lose the spring!) cause its face time.

i replaced the four clips to secure the fur to the front shell, then maneuvered it so the shell was in place. hook the black ribbon into the notch above the beak hole

next i pushed the faceplate into its slot, then pulled the fur up to hold it in place

next is a tricky part, flip the front shell back up with the faceplate still in place so you can get back to the screw holes

screw those in

NOW!! IMPORTANT!! aka i fucked uo and had to redo this bit. replace the heart gem NOW, before flipping the front shell back down. i didnt and it wad a pain to undo.

anyway next bit is pretty smooth, put the two shells back together and screw them tight. if you wanna do the ear clips its easy, they slit right in

last step is the base! i did two clips at a time

because of my thread cutting i had to sorta tuck one bit over the clip but it seems fine

then for the elastic, put it back over the teeth at the bottom. i tucked it into the corners with tweezers so it stayed better

then put the ridged piece on and screw in the screws. i did them all at once, tightening each a but at a time until it was flat. then add the battery cover as normal

and done!

she’s a little scruffy from the handling, but nothing a quick once-over with the comb cant fix :)
