Idk if this ask been asked before but what do you use to make the pictures for fics? I’m obsessed with them!!

tysm :)))) what I use is ibis paint x when I want to center the pics and make them have transparent backgrounds (also adjust brightness, shadows, contrast etc.) and for filters I use capcut's premium filters (screenshot the pic so you don't pay shit) there you can adjust almost anything

hiii I'm so glad you like it and answering your question, it is up to interpretation! didn't want to deny anything or confirm anything because I like readers to have their own interpretations about the dynamic but I'm gonna allow myself ramble and be annoying with this one for the love of the game

In my opinion, reader doesn’t function as dex’s north star because his north stars are usually people he can mirror or reconstruct himself around, like with julie for example, the attachment came from aspiration, she represented a version of normalcy he wanted to imitate in order to stabilize himself. Dex’s obsession with reader works differently because he doesn’t actually want to become like them, nor does he heavily mirror them beyond minor things.

I made reader in a way where they’re fundamentally indifferent to what Dex does as long as it doesn’t directly affect them or disrupt their life together. Obviously is not that the reader morally approves of his actions, they simply choose not to intervene. At most, they scold him occasionally because he can be genuinely irritating or excessive, but there’s no real attempt to reform.

This is one of the reasons why I say reader's a freak too lol but going back to the topic....... He doesn’t want to be like reader, he wants to be with them. Dex is aware that reader genuinely cares about him without trying to reshape him into someone more acceptable or useful, and most importantly, without reducing him to a dangerous object. They simply let him exist as he is without demanding performance or transformation from him and thats exactly what fascinates Dex, he feels allowed to stay exactly as he is, which is why he wants to keep them around forever

don't worry my loveee I can't spell either but let's try anddd getting into the topic.... I think Dex would be annoyed if the reader, for example, went through his belongings as you described, not exactly because the reader is crossing a boundary, but because they weren't leaving them in the exact same place. It's like when you leave your things in one spot and suddenly find them in a different position; that would really irritate him, and I think it's the one thing he would never want the reader to do and he'd never accept it as something positive

also I believe that at first being uncomfortable by the attention would suit him a lot. Acting like reader doesn't give him space when he was so used to being alone before and is overwhelming him somehow because he feels strange when there's someone paying attention so closely to what he does, not being into the idea of tasting his own medicine at all until he realizes that reader is actually watching him which means he's interesting enough for someone, and that would make him kinda giddy and flattered after thinking about it deeply

AND after a while, yk that now he's canonically full of himself after years and smug as shit so he's aware of the attention and likes it. He suddenly finds himself fully flattered by being watched all the time by someone he cares for and acts all cocky and makes jokes about himself being a better "watcher" (weirdo, obsessive, freak who lacks boundaries) than reader, believing that reader is a rookie and silently teaching reader how to be a better "watcher" like him. Obviously never having a conversation about it but they both know what they're doing and it turns into an amusing competition. Also he'd never complain about reader watching him even at the start when it was uncomfortable since it's mostly reader who scolds him for his obsessive behavior

so the answer is yes, he would learn to love reader being a freak like him as long as they don't mess with his belongings (his knives especially).

I like to think he's very happy with the idea of someone similar to him who doesn't kill people, like we see how he acts around matt 😭😭😭😭😭

Maybe reader has a TikTok account solely for scrolling and enjoying shit they love but Dex believes something else is going on so he starts digging, using a fake name on his account some dumb pfp so reader doesn't see it is him but since he doesn't have anyone else and perhaps asking could get him some extra info he goes to reader to ask dumb stuff like "how does this work" and reader's a bit surprised since he only uses his phone for calls and check location and texting so reader immediately figures out what's going on, obviously reader doesn't say let him know because it's just so funny seeing him trying to discover if reader posts about themselves or if they're hiding other things.... Much to think about
