dollwitcha ( victor ) sent: 04. reaching out hesitantly before resting a hand on Victor's back
DEATH seemed such a sure thing, even in a world brimming with magic, but after her time as a pawn in the Patron's twisted game Paige wasn't so sure of that anymore. From vampires ( blessed or cursed, depending on who you ask, with mortality ) to those with a will to continue so strong that they just kept getting up, up, up. Not to mention the literal corpse … Or, well, parts of various corpses.
NO matter how hard Paige had tried, manifesting healing magic with panicked fervour, it wasn't enough to keep Victor living. She watches, grief stricken, as his body pulls apart and … Floats?
BLINKING back tears, Paige approaches, her hair and the wool of her sweater standing on end. The air surrounding her snapped and crackled before a burst of energy knocked her back against the wall, turning her glasses askew and knocking her books from her hands.
BY the time she's composed herself and dusted off her dress, Victor stands, his back to her. Paige's mouth falls open. “ Wh - wh … Huh? But I … I saw you explode into pieces! ”
STEPPING back into the space around him, she mentally denotes that the crackling energy seems a lot more subdued. Juggling her books awkwardly so that she can hold them in one hand, she reaches out, hand hovering in the space around him. “ You're … Alive? Okay? ”
WHEN she finally touches him, his skin is cold, which comes as no surprise to her. She moves around to face him, not removing her hand the whole time, until she's able to crane her neck back to look at him.
HANDSOME face. Lanky hair. Stoic expression. He's really okay. “ Thank goodness … You had me worried. "
SHE hoped she wouldn't notice the shaky exhale, nor the heavy swallow she did to hold back her emotions.
