Closing Ceremony

It is time. As stalls were closing up shop, things were being taken and broken down, the priestesses of the shrines spoke to the gathering crowd for this last word.

All around them the world changed. Just the other day there had been a terrible battle, and others filled with colour, sound and merriment. Strangers who would have nothing to do with each other made merry and got to have fun together would just as likely be going their separate ways or pursuing something long term, whatever that may be.

All in all, it meant a single simple thing: no matter the hardships they would all endure. Their traditions may change, the world may continue to turn, but they would all keep moving forward in a brand new year.

The priestesses gave their blessings to those in attendance, wishing all a prosperous new year.

And so this chapter called 2023 ends and 2024 may truly begin.

Despite how prickly it looked, the Spelon Berry Zeru brought down for Blue was, in fact, an actual Berry. A little paper was attached on the bottom with a single piece of tape. The fortune slip reads as follows:

YOUR FUTURE HAPPINESS MAY CAUSE YOU TO BE PUT OFF BALANCE AND CAUSE YOU PAIN AND CONFUSION, BUT AS WITH TRUE HAPPINESS, IT IS ALWAYS WORTH FIGHTING FOR.

A Pecha Berry is brought down to Lynn by one of her Pokemon, a message attached to it like all the others. The message says:

SUCCESS IS ON THE HORIZON. LOOK TOWARDS YOUR FRIENDS AND FIND GREAT THINGS IN STORE FOR YOU.

A Salac Berry is plucked off somehow by Mabostiff. It's a little slobber covered, but the message says this:

A Custap Berry is dropped to Hassel by a mischievous Professor Gible. His fortune reads as follows:

Random Event: The Zodiac Parade

A new year means new beginnings, new life. While some Garchomp were allowed to race, not all were present and accounted for. Indeed, not just the Garchomp but all the other members of the Zodiac!

Ancient looking Pokemon walked in a procession of their own accord, followed each by their brethren and offspring.

An old Bibarel with many scars walked ahead of all of its adorable singing Bidoof descendants. It was long ago like these Bidoof as it made its way through ancient Sinnoh, but now it walked as an elder Bibarel at the forefront.

The next to come was a weathered Bastiodon, with tiny, wobbly-legged Shieldon who probably hadn't seen much life with how shaky they walked. Other Bastiodon came with them, herding the young ones so they would stray or lag behind.

After that a proud Luxray with a scar over its left eye came marching proudly with its large pride of Luxio and spry Shinx who happily pranced about.

More followed, in the same fashion, each group coming in the order of the Zodiac proper and with groups of young ones following their leaders. Aloha Pokemon who had lived much longer than they should have, defying the times they came from. No one could doubt their pride though, shining in those venerable eyes.

Though the adults did their best to keep the young Pokemon close, it wasn't odd to see some of them rush out to meet people, most likely wanting to go home with them. And if that was their fate, the other Pokemon would not stop it.
