Back when Maizewyn and Chilchuck were novice adventurers, their party betrayed their trust by using Maizewyn as bait for mermen and mermaids, as was common practice on the surface.

The incident traumatised Maizie, leaving her with a life-long fear of deep water, especially on the dungeons' fourth floor. She had never seen Chilchuck so angry before, and once they had returned to the surface, so protective.

It was a driving force towards the Union, and the elaborate contracts Chilchuck wrote up for Half-foots looking to join adventuring parties.

Because while Chilchuck knew that Half-foots were often treated horribly down in the dungeons, he had never seen it first hand until Maizewyn... and he never wanted to see it again.

This is maybe my pride and joy- I love playing dress up with my OCs, and finding outfits on Pinterest that match them, so here are a few of my favourite Coralie outfits from various arcs :D

I am very tempted to break down some of the little details and choices behind her outfits, like the necklace she starts wearing post-timeskip, or why she never wears long pants, amongst other things, but maybe I'll save that for another post-

She just makes me so happy, and I love her so much <3 <3

name/title origins

here's a little insight into the meanings and reasons behind the names of my one piece ocs <3 feat. two more ocs i've never mentioned before but still love dearly

PRINCESS CORALIE

I wanted something very ocean or mermaid-themed since she's a siren, but it also needed to be very simple, due to how she got her name

Shanks named her after he and his crew rescued her from imprisonment, so it made sense that her name would just come from something that commonly occurs in the ocean

It just seemed right on the nose while also being very pretty, and suited her with and without her royal title

MORANA

Morana is the name of a Slavic goddess associated with the death and rebirth of nature, and it just seemed perfect for my lovely vampire

Her Baroque Works codename of Miss Halloween was an obvious choice, since all of the female agents are based on celebratory holidays, and what better for a vampire than Halloween?

And since she's (quite literally) the devil on Crocodile's shoulder, the pairing of their names- Sir Crocodile and Lady Morana- just has a nice ring to it

DONQUIXOTE AMORETTA

Amoretta means 'little love', which only seemed fitting for the girl raised to inherit the Heart seat in Doflamingo's family

Also, I just love any name that can have 'Ettie' as a nickname, so obviously that's what Ikkaku, Penguin and Shachi call her

She hates her last name, but the only reason she keeps herself associated with it is to keep her Uncle Cora's memory alive- that's the side of the Donquixote family she truly belongs to

KIT

Most animal-associated characters in One Piece have very on-the-nose names, so this was an easy choice

A baby raccoon is called a kit, and I just thought that would be the cutest name ever for my darling mink girl

And the pairing of Kit and Bepo are just adorable names together (KiPo <3)

DONQUIXOTE HARMONIA

Harmonia means 'unity', as well as being the goddess of harmony and balance- the perfect name for such a comforting, stable presence in Rosi and Law's lives

Obviously, the Donquixote comes from her being married to Rosinante, even though she isn't publicly known by that name

After Rosi's death, and after adopting Law, she changes her name to Trafalgar R. Harmonia (the R standing for Rosinante, of course) for both her safety, and her connection to Law as his family

MERRIN KELPIE

So, Merrin has a few meaning, but I was going with 'star of the sea', since she's a pirate and a Supernova

Kelpies are a part of Scottish folklore, which backs up her being Scottish, even if Scotland doesn't exist in the One Piece world

The mythos of kelpies only being killed by silver bullets... Kelpie being saved and given a metal arm... There are parallels

EMPORIO DELANEY

Another name with a lot of meanings, but honestly, I didn't pick Delaney because of its meaning- I just love the name, and it sounds both posh and badass in my opinion

Ivankov adopted her when she was little, after rescuing her from a Celestial Dragon-caused accident

So, she's also technically a princess, and Princess Delaney of the Revolutionary Army?? That's such a good title

MONKEY-GOL D. JOLIE

Roger's younger sister, Dragon's ex-wife and Luffy's mother (so self-indulgent, I just want to take care of little baby Luffy) so there's a lot going on with her surname

But her name, Jolie... Well, if you ever wondered where the 'Jolly' in 'Jolly Roger' came from... It's from her

It was a way to keep her connected to her brother, even when it became too dangerous for anyone to know she was related to him

All the "What Could Have Been"s about Law, Harmonia and Rosinante break my heart... They could've been such a happy little family together.

I could literally talk about them forever. I have so many little domestic thoughts in my head about these three. Law deserves some parental love, and I channel all of it through Harmonia and Rosinante.

Here's another one y'all haven't seen yet <3

Every captain needs their right-hand man, and their right-hand woman, and that's precisely who Merrin Kelpie is to Eustass Kidd (and, yes, she does frequently make jokes about her being more of a left-hand woman).

And I know real-world countries don't exist in One Piece, but just know she is incredibly Scottish. I refuse to accept a world where Kelpie cannot yell and curse at Kidd in a heavy Scottish accent.

She's the final third of my Fates Trio, alongside Coralie and Amoretta. They're essentially my all-fem equivalent to the Supernova Trio, because why not.

Saved from a Celestial Dragon's ship, Kelpie didn't have much choice but to join Kidd's crew in exchange for rescuing her. They are just as bad as each other- quick to anger, using curses every second word, and seemingly unable to lower their voices no matter what.

At first, the crew thinks this is going to cause problems for them, considering the frequent shouting matches the two get into, but that's actually just how their friendship is. They bicker like children, but stay up all night tinkering away together.

At 18, about a year after Kelpie joins them, the crew get into a nasty fight with some rival pirates. She's just in the wrong place at the wrong time, getting caught in the midst of an explosion, that severs her right arm, and permanently blinds her right eye. Kidd decides to make her a replacement arm, and locks himself in his workshop for weeks.

Truthfully, he just can't bring himself to see Kelpie in such a broken and vulnerable state. She's just so brash and loud and always ready for a fight... It feels wrong to see her laying in one of the medical cots, wrapped in bandages, barely even able to open her eyes.

After the incident, Kidd never admits it out loud, but he gets a lot more protective over her. She can handle herself just fine, once she adjusts to her new limb, but he's not risking anything.

At first it annoys her- she doesn't want to be seen as weak and helpless because of one incident- but after a while, she kinda starts to enjoy it. After all, being a pirate is already dangerous, but being a woman too? It just attracts attention.

So, now she has scary dog privilege-

Also, yes I know Kidd has a metal arm too but please I did NOT want to deal with all that- it's so complicated and detailed 😔😔 He's already hard enough to draw-

MAIZEWYN BOGZ MY BELOVED <3

Maizewyn (or Maizie for short) is my main Dungeon Meshi OC, and I adore her with all my heart. She's a 29-year-old, half-foot archer, and a very caring, gentle woman. She handles any sort of injuries that aren't bad enough to warrant magic- papercuts and scraped knees and whatnot- as well as any torn clothes. She's very good with needles and thread.

And just to be super self-indulgent- Yes, I do pair her with Chilchuck, and yes, they are absolutely the mom and dad of the party. I love a moody divorced father and his personal ray of sunshine.

And, yes, in typical me fashion, they are childhood friends to lovers, just with a lot of extra steps and a nice helping of angst. Nothing better than watching the man you've loved since childhood marry another woman, start a family, only for it to all fall apart <3

But don't worry, Maizewyn is good at patching things up :)

Anyways, I believe in ChilWyn supremacy ^_^ They bounce around in my brain like the DVD logo...
