Teshin accidentally called Thread 'child' once and fully expected the same kind of rebuke he'd get from Needle for it because Needle hates being called or referred to as a child in anyway. Except it doesn't happen. She just grins and calls him 'old man' and carries on with whatever she's doing. Not bite, no backlash, no snapping at him to not call her that because she doesn't share Needle's resentment for being referred to in that way.

Needle is a child soldier who wants to be taken seriously. Being treated like a kid feels diminishing to her because she can take care of herself, she's been taking care of herself ever since her parents lost their minds and she had to take care of the other kids. She hasn't been a kid since the Zariman, and trying to address her as one makes her feel like she's not being taken seriously.

Thread however got to be a kid fairly freely in Duviri and never really developed that same hang up. She aged and matured, and once she grew a desire to leave, she was never treated like a child again. She wasn't a kid anymore, she was an outlaw, and everyone treated her accordingly. For Teshin to call her 'child', it's not a diminishing of her or her capabilities, it's someone treating her with a softness she's not had in a very, very long time, and part of her craves the sense of connection it provides. As grown up and capable as she is, some part of her is still that scared, lonely child left abandoned on a ghost ship with nothing left to her but stories, and Teshin provides that child with the emotional security she's so desperately needed all this time.

Needle has had Lotus to fulfil the role of parental figure but Thread didn't have anyone until she met Teshin. He's the first adult to provide some sense of guidance and stability since the Zariman, and it's something she's desperately needed from an emotional stand point, which is why she accepts the title of child from him and crashes out so hard when she loses him.

Not sure if it's been done before or not, but I recreated a blank version of the F&F Character Sheet for people's Drifters to use. It's a bit low res, but I like how it turned out.

Also, some notes (just in case): -There's supposed to be a Class Icon to the left of the Player Name and Date Character Started fields. -F&F might have "legally distinct" alignments, since Lawful Evil is now Rightful Evil
