when i first finished reading this part i COULD NOT stop thinking about that specific fucking set of panels of faker becoming VISIBLY FRIGHTENED and tangling himself into a protective ball. submissive body language via making himself appear smaller and less threatening (as one does). this absolutely baffled me. you're SCARED??? does bro even know what fear is???

and then i had the greatest "oh... OH." moment of my entire motherfucking lifu when i remembered this panel from part 2:

i'd actually reread the entire comic in preparation for part 6 as a bit of a refresher so i remembered it pretty fast but like. oh my god. I FUCKING KNEW THERE WAS SOMETHING UP WITH HIS BODY LANGUAGE HERE. THIS SHIT HAS BEEN STARING ME IN THE FACE THIS ENTIRE TIME AND ONLY NOW AM I REALIZING.

i think this is the first time i've seen a "both the protagonist and the monster fear each other" scenario since, like, that niche-ish horror game it steals. and it is absolutely criminal that i havent seen in more because i'm goddamn enamored with the concept.

Me thinks that because Fake Peppino is very aware of the distinct difference between "clone, just like you, except inferior" and "this thing that beat my ass is weird and different but also communicates with others better", there's not only fear, but also curiosity. Now for the reasons why he stays even if scared, probably because the pizzeria is the only place it could go plus the fact this odd specimen of a thing (real Peppino) lives here. Anyways with the curiosity tidbit, it seems more predator-based in motive but also replacement wise, trying to get more information considering it doesn't entirely understand Peppino

It's probably reasonable to believe that since the escape segment and the party, Fake definitely had some questions as to why Peppino didn't outright kill them or shoo them away. The only methods it has though is just observing... and also, being a freak lmao

I feel like during the time Fake made a "pizza", maybe it was to test whether its cooking skills could replace, or maybe as an odd peace offering (?????). Idk

Another aspect that moreso drives the fear part is the fact that Fake probably is trying to compete for "real Peppino" status, and maybe the concept of actually being a fake scares it somewhat

And it probably (god there's a lot of "probably") doesn't appreciate being called a fake. Idk it's funny to think of Fake going "no you" in the face of being called fake by regular old Peppino.

I got the game awhile back from my dad, but my first run through i didnt latch onto it NEAAAARLY as hard as I’m doing now. very glad I went back to play it again n properly fall down the bottom of the drain, very worth it!!!

1. Favorite boss has to be a really strong fight between Inkerton (because I love the big angry squid), Topoda (cuz the tornado attack is so cool ur honor), or NG+ Camtscha to be honest. I really like how much they throw you into the air for that one it's suuuper fun. honestly i really like ng+ bosses a lot overall i think ,,

2. SCUTTLEPORT OR PETROCH'S THEME NO QUESTIONS ABOUT IT. fell in love with both of them on SIGHT ouhdg...... but i enjoy all of the ost a lot personally, i listen to most of the ost themes casually .]

3. harder question. Design wise, it's a very hard pick between Literally Everything In The Game, but it has to go to Inkerton i always use the Hunter costume when I get it. So unfair his design is so cool and for what......... Npc wise though, probably Chitan. .]

4. I’m not the biggest shipper personally, i don’t really think of ships unless they're like explicitly canon, but I am always an enjoyer of Kril X His Shell. nods confidently

hi imnew here. uh which another crabs treasure do u think has the most aura. other than inkerton that woudltn be fair.

it's between Kril, Topoda, Pagurus, and Chitan ngl (sorry Firth, ily but you have 0 aura most of the time)

Topoda already starts out his introduction with big aura as an "Umami Master" and starts whoopin ass before Kril finally beats him. He's also got knowledge on different species and whatnot and even is aware of the shape of the Milky Way, which I was surprised by. Paired with the fact he's also titled the protector of the grove, overall, he's got hella aura

Chitan seems silly at first as the "Tryhard Guard" but literally the next time you see her she's literally right next to a pile of bodies she made. Although you kinda don't see much after that, she does start being hella badass at the Dark Star, literally going toe to toe against Inkerton, who just has guns on him, and WINNING, and then the next time you see her in the Unfathom, you just see a dead laser crab right next to her (literally fighting giants omg). So yah for Chitan, i'd say she's bout equal to Inkerton, if not, higher up in aura ranking.

For the person Kril is, he gained HELLA aura throughout the game. Started out kinda a wimp (though that's kinda to be expected) but he not only killed 3 important political figures alongside a bunch of other guys that are like WAY bigger than he is, including feared BEAST OF THE SANDS, PAGURUS, but also went to hell, got out, and WENT BACK IN and ended up beating 2 gods AND went back to hell to save Chitan. Post game, he's living his life as a protector, which is HELLA COOL. Ranking wise, it's kinda hard because i think he's squished between Inkerton and Chitan, but I lowkey wanna put him on top though that's prolly biased considering we see most of his accomplishments.

Looking at Pagurus, we get a lot of mentions of Pagurus from the treasure hunters and others, who quake in their boots thinking of him, not even saying his name. You don't really see him until you ofc break rule number 1 of the sands between "don't stray from the path" and start getting chased down like prey by big chungus crab that wants to eat you, which is TERRIFYING especially if you are not prepared. MF is THE force that disrupts travel outside of New Carcinia and that's cool as shit.

Idk man this is lowkey hard ngl, all have that aura, though we see more from Chitan and Kril than anyone else....

With how frequent they are in NG+ compared to base game, the fact they can just be anywhere, and the whole "prepare to suffer" thing, i can see them being the manifestations of rage and suffering. I think that's a cool concept :3

and i will not gloss over the fact that this particular idea implies that maybe, just maybe, the reason why the rude snail is the only guy in game that summons them (I think, it's been a while since i've booted up the game) is that he was so racist, seeing Kril made him angry enough that he could use that anger to summon the clones lmao.
