Oh, hi! My name is Serial Designation B, or just B. Fascinating that this place is still around!

B is built like a normal disassembly drone, but a function has unlocked in her that allows her to shape-shift between a worker and a disassembly. When a worker, her optics are blue, and when a disassembly drone, her optics are the typical golden-yellow.

K slowly opened her eyes, having just woken up from one of her signature impromptu naps. She yawned wide and stretched like a cat.

" Mm… who’s there? "

The fluffy haired drone murmured sleepily, rubbing her visor with her hand as she glanced around at her surroundings.

*A Disassembly drone with short, typical silver white hair and honey colored optics peeks into the room, curious. Her tail flicks and she smiles, surprised.*

"Oh! My name's B. Apologies if I disturbed your sleep!"

K turned to look at the newcomer and smiled a bit in return.

" Eh, it’s no big deal. It’s not like it’ll be hard to get myself back to sleep whenever I want to. "

She snickered quietly, getting up from the ground and dusting her dress off.

" I’m K. Nice to meet you, B. "

*B chuckles slightly.*

"Nice to meet you as well, K."

*She seems to think for a moment, awkwardly trying to decide a good conversation starter.*

"Soooo... How are you doing? Life treating you good?"

" I’m alright. Life… has actually been shockingly peaceful lately. Not that I’m complaining, it’s a nice change of pace from before. "

K answered, fluffing up her hair a bit. Her tail swayed slowly and calmly behind her.

" How about you? "

"About the same. It's interesting, the kind of peace that's about. I'm still getting used to living with workers... but that's a whole other can of mechanical worms."

*B looks around, swaying in a circle to look at the space around, then turning her gaze back to K.*

"Is this your home?"

" Good luck with that. Personally, I’ve been in here for a while now, and yet sometimes I still feel like I shouldn’t be here… but I’ve been getting better about it. "

K blinked a couple of times. It seemed that she was still a bit groggy from her nap.

" Is it…? "

She took another look at her surroundings, before shaking her head and laughing sheepishly.

" Nope. Must have fallen asleep in the hallway again. But my place isn’t too far from here if you’d like to talk there instead. "

"If you're comfortable with it, sure. Must be strange, falling asleep in random places."

" It’s actually pretty common for me, so I’m mostly used to it. I like sleeping a lot. "

K nodded and turned to lead the way to her living unit, gesturing for B to follow her.

" Right this way. "

*B follows quietly, looking around at the hall, tail swishing lazily.*

K walked through the hallway for about a minute or so, before stopping outside of a door. She entered a code into a keypad, causing the door to slide open.

" Come on in and yourself at home. "

The fluffy haired drone said as she entered the living unit. Her place was pretty cozy, and a bit more decorated than the average drone’s living unit. One of the most notable features was the fact that there was a mural of the sky on the living room wall, seemingly painted by hand.

" Do you want any oil? Actually, do you still drink it to begin with? "

*She admires the mural for a moment before looking back at K.*

"Oh, yes on both counts. Thank you."

*Taking everything in, she stands in one place for a few moments.*

"Your home is beautiful! That mural is especially intricate."

K nodded and gave B a quick thumbs up, before walking into the kitchen.

" Thanks, I’m really proud of it. It was a joint effort between my girlfriend and I. Both the upgraded home decor and the mural. "

The disassembly drone returned after a few moments with two mugs of oil in her hands. She brought the mugs over to the living room and set them down on the coffee table, before flopping down onto the couch.

" We thought that it would be more special and personal than just putting up some premade wallpaper. Plus, it was really fun to work on it together. "

"I'm sure. It looks like a real labor of love by those in love, heh. Can't say my home is near as well decorated or housing a partner."

*She sits on a chair near K, sipping the oil with a contented sigh.*

"I do miss the sunny sky of earth."

" I’d totally recommend fancying your place up sometime, partner or not. It’s super fun. I know an abandoned mall around here that has its home decor store still mostly intact, you could grab some supplies from there if you ever decide to remodel. "

K said with a content trill, taking a sip from her own mug of oil.

" Yeah, I miss it too… even if I didn’t get to see the sun very often anyways. I know that there’s still a sun here, but it’s just not the same. Plus, too much of it will straight up kill me, so that makes it hard to enjoy the sun to its fullest. "

The fluffy haired drone sighed lightly, swirling the oil in her mug around a bit idly.

" I miss all of the life that the Earth had too. I guess that we still have trees here, but that’s about it. No grass, no flowers, no animals… it’s a real shame. "

"Oh, I'll have to check there! Thank you."

*She listens to K quietly, very observant. She nods and takes a sip when the other DD finishes.*

"Yeah, nature always was fun. Gardening especially! I loved planting little succulents in pots to grow, not to be pretty, but just to thrive. Oh, and I miss cats."

*Her expression grows wistful.*

" No problem. If you ever need the coordinates, I can hook you up. "

K lightly tapped her fingers against the side of her mug, making sure that the sound was quiet enough to not disrupt the other while she was talking. She spoke up again after B had finished.

" Now that you mention it, I never really got to plant anything of my own, but I did get to tend to a garden from time to time. It was a pretty peaceful task, I really liked it. "

The fluffy haired drone paused to take another quick sip of oil before continuing.

" As for cats, I never really got to hang out with any of them in person. Or any animals for that matter. I think the closest I got was watching crows and maybe sometimes seeing a horse or two from afar? But I’m sure that I would have really liked cats. "

"Oh, I bet. You remind me of them, you know. There was always one stray that would hang around... I would give it the scraps I could get. It nearly got me hurt, but I was too stubborn and loved that cat. I miss it. But a friend made me a sentinel part sourced cat recently, so I have a companion again!"

*She smiles, tail swishing happily at the thought.*

" Heh, I get the cat comparison a lot. Honestly, I can see the resemblance. I’m honestly kind of like a chimera of all sorts of animals in terms of behavior. Mainly a cat and a fox. "

She brought her hand up to her mouth and giggled softly. Immediately proving the previous point, she let out a little part surprised, part excited “mrr?” sound, perking up slightly.

" Whoa, a robo-cat? I kind of never considered the possibility of just building our own animals, that’s awesome! What’s it like to take care of it? "

"I think I can see that..."

*B laughs slightly at the little sound K makes, nodding.*

"It's super simple, just needs food like batteries or power packs and a little oil each day. It enjoys sleeping smack dab on top of me and pestering me for treats, as well as going out and climbing around in rubble. Super normal cat stuff, just more like drones."

" Aww, it sounds adorable! I’d totally love to meet the little critter some day. "

K chirped, her tail wagging happily behind her.

" Gosh, hearing all of this almost makes me want to get some sort of pet of my own now that I know that there are actually options for it. Though, I’d probably have to run the idea past my girlfriend first, and figure out what sort of pet would fit us best… and then actually figure out how to build it. "

"It could be like a sort of bonding activity, if you think about it... It would probably take a while though. Maybe sometime I can bring it over or get the blueprints."

*She grins, delighted to see K's tail wagging so hard. Her own tail makes happy waving loops.*

" That’d be a fun way to bond. We painted our walls together as a bonding activity, so working on some sort of project together again should be right up our alley. "

The fluffy haired drone finished off her mug of oil and set it down on the coffee table, before leaning back on the couch.

" Either having the blueprints or seeing it for ourselves should work. Having the blueprints themselves might help if we decide we want to make a different type of pet, that way we’ll have a good base to work off of. "

"Then I'll plan to do both. Zephyr will love to get out of the house, explore a bit."

*She takes another polite sip of her oil, taking a deep breath of contentment.*

" Sounds good to me. We could probably figure out a time to meet up at some point, whenever we’re all available. "

K idly swung her legs back and forth off of the edge of the couch as she spoke.

" Speaking of which, we should totally exchange contact information so that we can stay in touch. Do you have a cell phone, or do you prefer to communicate via visor? "

"Oo, hmm. Both are good, but I'll elect for phones for now. I can give you my designation in the future if we figure out phones don't work."

*B pulls out her phone and reads off the number to K, then looks up with a slightly excited expression, tail flicking happily.*

K pulled her own phone out of her pocket and entered B’s number into a new contact. Once she had the contact made, she sent a quick “👋” to make sure that she had the right number.

" There, we should be all set. "

"Ah, yep!"

*She sends back "🫵😺" and smiles back up at K, tail swishing.*

"Now we have relatively seamless contact. Nice."

She flashed B a smile in return and pocketed her cell phone.

" I’m really looking forward to it. Getting a pet will be like taking another step into a more calm and domestic future, if that makes any sense. "

"It makes a lot of sense. To be honest, having Zephyr has anchored me, to a certain point... keeps me on schedule, improves my mood... I have something else besides myself to take care of."

The fluffy haired drone said as she entered the living unit. Her place was pretty cozy, and a bit more decorated than the average drone’s living unit. One of the most notable features was the fact that there was a mural of the sky on the living room wall, seemingly painted by hand.

" As for cats, I never really got to hang out with any of them in person. Or any animals for that matter. I think the closest I got was watching crows and maybe sometimes seeing a horse or two from afar? But I’m sure that I would have really liked cats. "
