Hello everyone! I FINALLY have the very first chapter of Bunker of the Bleak ready! As a preface to those who aren’t familiar, this is a human/vampire au comic for Murder Drones. I have changed a few things that will all come together for the plot in the end. The chapter will be split up into parts due to the image limit on tumblr, so the second part will be posted tomorrow! Love you guys, and I hope you enjoy!
A few minutes passed in peace. A record was playing quietly, Tessa realized, her eyelids starting to droop. Something instrumental and slow—J’s pick, almost certainly. The whisper of the brush bristles over bone, the rustle of J’s papers. It was enough to make her yawn, body growing heavy with impending sleep.
Tessa resisted. She wanted to keep playing silent observer. It was just so lovely to see the three of them together like this. This was… this was home to her. They were her home.
(a little glimpse into the life of Tessa and her drones)
A/N: long story short I decided to give the au a very rocky, insense start. Lots of drama, everyone is going thru it, so be prepared. anyway here- take my au slop- /silly
Here It Begins
The battle just ended. Cyn is finally defeated. The world was saved, but Uzi could not save herself. Khan, Uzi’s father, now knows that Uzi is dead. In his blind rage, who else to blame than the murder drone?
Contents + Trigger warnings: strong language, angst, hurt/comfort, PTSD, trauma, anxiety, emotional distress, aggression, violence, basically blood but it’s oil and black in color, arguing, weapons, injury, major character death, grief, mourning, betrayal of trust, drama (lots of it /silly), messy/complicated relationships
——
Khan stayed silent over his daughter’s lifeless body.
N cautiously reached out.
Khan suddenly tensed up his shoulders.
“You MONSTER!!”
Khan turned around in a fury and lunged towards N.
N dodged the attack effortlessly by rolling out of the way.
N looked up. He flinched; Khan apparently had a gun on him.
Khan had fired and N dodged the bullet with a quick swing of his blade.
“YOU’RE GONNA FUCKING PAY FOR THIS, DEMON!!!” Khan yelled.
N scampered up with a small yelp. He kept avoiding each shot Khan fired—dodging them by either destroying them or swinging his blade.
V had to cut her moment of mourning short and quickly intervened. But before she took a step..
“V, WAIT-!! D-DON’T HURT HIM-!! J-JUST STAY OUT IF THIS-!! I-I’LL TAKE CARE OF IT-!!” N hollered in a panic while in midair.
V was obviously reluctant to just stand down and watch a rouge worker drone try to kill him.
She scoffed. “WHAT- WHY??!”
“JUST TRUST ME-!!” N shouted.
V’s expression faltered. She thought hard for a moment—really hard. With an anxious bite of her lip, she put away her blades.
~~
N flew around frantically. Khan continued to attack, and N continued to dodge.
“I KNOW YOU’RE MAD, BUDDY, BUT CAN WE JUST TALK THIS OUT??!”
Khan growled. “YOU RUINED MY LIFE, AND YOU EXPECT ME TO JUST ‘TALK THIS OUT???!!’”
“I-I’M SORRY-!!” N yelped at nearly missing a bullet. “PLEASE, WE CAN GET ALONG INSTEAD, I-I PROMISE!!”
Khan snarled. “FUCK YOU!!”
Khan finally caught N off guard and knocked him out of the sky.
N tumbled ungracefully to the ground. Khan pinned him down.
Khan chuckled derangedly.
“You have…no idea…how long I’ve wanted to do this…to you freaks…”
N braced for the final blow…
Instead… a loud bang went into Khan’s abdomen.
Khan felt the bloodied area. It was at that moment he finally realized.
He messed up.
Big time.
His digital eyes glossed over. He fell forward. Lifeless.
V was revealed behind him—gun pointed forward—X on her display.
“V!!!! WHAT IS WRONG WITH YOU???!!” N snapped.
A crooked smile appeared on V’s face. “N- you cannot be serious- DID YOU NOT SEE HIM??!!? HE WAS ABOUT TO FUCKING KILL YOU, YOU DIPSHIT!!!!”
“I told you not to HURT HIM-!!!!” N pushed V backwards.
V’s harsh scowl faltered into a weak wrinkle of her brows.
“I literally TOLD YOU to back down, and you didn’t even do that!!” N barked.
V felt a fierce pang in her chest—the damage had already been done. There’s no going back now.
V’s voice wavered—the confidence in her words clearly fading.
“I did…what was right.”
N tensed his shoulders. “You did what you wanted.”
V’s defensive expression faded. She made a mistake. A huge mistake.
“I told you to do something in a crucial moment and even then- you still didn’t listen.” N sneered.
V’s eyes hollowed. Regret of her choice sinking in. “W-Wait- N-No- Please- N-”
“Why don’t you trust me??! Do you think I’m stupid???!!!” N fumed, completely ignoring V’s words.
She stammered. “…I’m sorry-”
“A ‘sorry’ is not gonna fix this, V!!” N huffed, “…and it’s not gonna fix anything.”
V faltered. “I…”
N’s eyes narrowed. His lip quivered. “Fuck you.”
They both had tears in their eyes.
N picked Khan up gently.
N stared V straight in the eyes before he took off.
~~
Back at the outpost.. N anxiously waited.
He hoped for good news, but honestly, deep down, he wasn't feeling very hopeful.
N was sitting quietly on a chair in a hallway that is basically the robo-equivalent to a waiting area directly outside of a hospital room.
In the corner of his eye, N saw someone walk adjacent to him and sit down in another chair—leaving a gap between him and them.
N looked up.
“Hey..” V said awkwardly—like she never met him.
N forced a smile. “Hi..”
V crossed her arms against her midriff. She struggled to form words.
“I’m sorry.. about earlier..”
N didn’t respond.
Fair.
V fidgeted. “I-I don’t think I’ve ever seen you that mad before..”
N sighed. “I wasn’t really mad, I was just.. frustrated.”
V meanwhile anxiously tapped her finger.
“I hate when you just… refuse to listen.. I— hate when you’re so- so stubborn-”
V bit her lip. “I know…”
Silence fell between the two.
“…God dammit- I’m so sorry- I hate that I do this to you.. I can’t protect you no matter how much I try…”
V huffed. “I always just end up hurting you.”
N raised his head. He thought deeply for a moment.
“…I.. I don’t think I forgive you just yet… and I don’t think we could ever go back to some kind of normalcy between us…”
V looked down. She frowned.
“But I’m open to try again.”
V looked back up.
“I know we don’t have the most.. healthy dynamic… but I don’t wanna give up on us. I’m okay to start again—I just need to know if you’re ready.”
V’s optics were hollow. She chuckled softly—tears formed in her eyes.
“I don’t deserve a forgiving person like you, y'know that, right..?”
N smiled—genuinely this time. “Well, It’s ‘cause I love you.”
V sniffed. “I love you too.”
N teared up too while his smile grew bigger.

Meanwhile, large text that said “REBOOTING…” was plastered across Khan’s visor. He was laying in what was technically a robo-hospital bed.
A small ding could be heard. A pair of neon gray-ish blue eyes blipped back on to Khan’s display. He let out a small groan of discomfort.
Another drone in the room, probably a nurse or something, got up from their seat as soon as they saw Khan finish rebooting.
“Oh-! Thank goodness- you’re awake! Don’t move, okay? I’ll be right back!” The drone said.
After that, Khan looked down and examined the bandages wrapped around his body.
Khan cringed. “Fucking idiot…” He thought—scolding himself.
Khan looked to his left—a little drone-heart was asleep beside him.
“…Nori..?”
Nori perked up as soon as she heard Khan’s voice call her name. Nori swiftly turned her “head.”
“KHAN!” Nori leaped forward and threw her arms around Khan’s neck. “Jesus fuckin’ Christ- you’re alive!!”
Nori let out a deep sigh. “I thought I lost you…” She held Khan’s face in her claws.
Khan processed. “Wait- is Uzi…—”
Nori looked at him with a guilty look in her eye. She looked away.
Khan faltered. “Oh.. that’s right she’s…—gone..”
Khan started breathing heavily. Every breath began to hitch..until each exhale became a pained, deep cry coming from the back of his throat.
“It's all my fault.. I should’ve done something- I should’ve helped her- I-I should’ve just been there-” Khan sobbed.
Nori’s single eye frowned. “Khan…”
Khan had himself curled up so tightly that his head was almost touching his chest. “I failed you- I failed the colony- a-and now I failed Uzi..”
“Hey, hey, hey- Lookit me, baby… You’re okay.. Calm down…” Nori tried to soothe him.
“I’m sorry…” Khan croaked.
“No.. sweetie… It’s okay.. just…” Nori sighed. “—breathe.. okay…?”
Khan at that point had completely exhausted himself from all the tears—he couldn’t keep crying even though he wanted to.
He hiccuped. “Okay…”
Nori tried her best to hug Khan despite her current form. Her tiny body disappeared into Khan’s much larger embrace.
Nori mumbled softly. “It’ll be okay..”
~~
Meanwhile, outside of the room…
The same nurse from before approached N. “Um.. mister.. N.. sir? Mr. Doorman is awake- he’s okay.”
“OH, THANK GOD!!” N exclaimed in relief into his hands. V was just sitting there silently…
N stood up quickly. “C-Can I see him..?!”
~~
The nurse quickly popped in just to make sure it was okay that someone else entered.
Khan nodded, but Nori answered verbally for him—since his voice was barely presentable now.
Both saw a murder drone walk in.
“Oh. It’s you.” Nori said in a very un-impressed tone.
Also fair.
“H-Hey, dude.. how’re you doing..?” N asked tensely.
“Could be better..” Khan replied with a tired voice.
N paused..
“So uh.. I guess I’ll just leave then since you’re both doing alright in here..” N chuckled awkwardly.
N walked towards the door—his teeth ahold of his lower lip.
Khan felt his bandages again…
“Wait.”
N stopped. He turned his head.
“Thanks, by the way… for saving my life..” Khan said.
N’s expression finally brightened.
“You’re welcome.”
N and Khan locked eye contact before the door of the room cut off their gaze.
…After that day.. after that moment.. things changed. Something changed. Like a new hope—means of a new beginning—a breath of fresh air…
Uzi might be gone, but at least now N has V—and possibly more…
A year ago I met @daschantal05 from one of my earliest posts of SD-L and I’ve never thought I’d get to read one of the most well - written piece of fiction ever created in the MD community, that is Murder Drones: End of An Era
This post a review and basically a thank you note to the creator, who is also one of my good friends :D
First, what I appreciate the most about EoAE how exceptionally detailed some parts of the story is. Without any spoilers, all I can say is that the more technical and mechanical elements in the fic is written very well, with a true sense of understanding and knowledge from the author, so if you’re into machinery you’re 100% gonna enjoy the bits that does get into the nitty gritty details of it.
Another thing they stands out is how GREAT the characters and dialogues are written. Everyone feels like they have secrets and lives of their own, with their own morals and beliefs which are well developed. They feel so REAL as well, there are time that I definitely feel emotional for the things that happens to the, in the chapters. Same goes for the dialogues, nothing feels repetitive or fake, they just come out of the characters naturally.
Finally, I absolutely love how unique this story is, you can get into it with minimal info about murder drones, it’s almost it’s own original story. The writing style perfectly reflects the horror themes of the story (I love body horror) and you can literally feel the passion and effort OOZING from the fic. Seriously, I’m so glad that the author took their time in bringing such a beautiful piece of literature to life. I truly wish more people give this novel a read, it’s made with love and true passion for the creative writing and I want people to get inspired by its charms like I did (I have lots of fanart ideas but I do not have the energy to draw em all lmao)
The only criticism I have is the writing and language is very complex at times, which can intimidate new readers. Although take it with a grain of salt because I, myself is not a native English speaker so I had to look up some words from the dictionary as I go. XD
That’s all I can say without spoiling the fic lol, I wanna keep this review brief as I want new readers to experience the story and its charms for themselves.
Oh and enjoy this book cover I created while I’m on a plane :]
I've been thinking about a murder drones human survives fic that I just want to write down.
See, it's pretty generic. Human goes into a cryo pod that doesn't malfunction like the rest, human wakes up about 30 or so years into the future and basically has to survive off of old grocery products that can probably kill them, etc.
But unlike other fics where it somewhat focus's on the main characters from the original series, I kind of want it to where Lizzy and Thad finds them and just kinda starts hanging out with them. One out of curiosity, the other out of boredom and only because she's doing it for her boyfriends sake.
Either way, it explores relationships, soft sides, antagonists that are seen as the good guys, etc. It's just something I've been thinking about. I'm probably not going to write that kind of fic because I'm already working on a project or two, but you know.
