Hello everyone! I’m Kosho, and welcome to my blog! Here, you’ll mostly find me yapping about my current hyperfixations, though I do write occasionally (I used to draw sometimes too, but uh… not really anymore). I enjoy many types of horror media, as well as anime, manga and video games! Oh, and I collect lots of trinkets and old tech stuff. I have one barely functioning brain cell at most, so bear with me. 💔 Below, you’ll find a list of my current fandoms, favs, and things to note about my page.
Fandoms: House of Wax, Texas Chainsaw Massacre, JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure, Tokyo Revengers, Fullmetal Alchemist, Attack on Titan
Favs: Vincent Sinclair (HoW), Robert “Chop-Top” Sawyer (TCM 2), Ran Haitani (TR), Solf J. Kimblee (FMA), Eren Yeager (AoT)
BYF: I consider myself a yumeshipper, HOWEVER, all of my ships are OC x Canon. Although they occasionally share some of my traits, my characters are not meant to represent me. This is just something I do for fun! All that to say, doubles are more than welcome here. I always love seeing other fans of my favs!
I also tend to jump between interests pretty frequently. Currently, my main interest is horror. It has been for the past year, and likely will continue to be for the foreseeable future. But please keep in mind that it could change at any time, especially if you follow me for one specific thing and one specific thing only. That’s just how my brain works when it comes to hyperfixations, unfortunately. They come and go.
Finally, my DMs, askbox and strawpage are always open! I like to think I’m pretty friendly, and I’m always down to yap and make friends/mutuals!
DNI: I’m not very strict when it comes to who can and cannot interact with me, but I do still ask that you follow basic DNI criteria. I curate my space as I see fit, and won’t hesitate to block those I feel uncomfortable with.
If you’re interested in my other socials or want to send me something, feel free to check out my strawpage! That’s all for now. Thank you for visiting!
So I've been seeing a lot of talk about the upcoming TCM movie lately, and I kinda wanna share my take on it bc I have… thoughts about the whole thing. TLDR at the end bc this rant is gonna be long. I’m not normal about TCM in the slightest.
For those who don’t know, here’s what the director has said about it so far.
At first glance, it sounds promising. Especially because he seems to understand the importance of the film focusing on the family, which is something a lot of later films in the franchise failed to do. But the way this is worded is where my concerns come in.
In my opinion, one of the things that made the original two films work so well, and what most others after them lacked, was the dark comedy aspect. The bizarre and wacky humor is a huge part of what made them so charming and fun to watch for me, and it’s what really gave the Sawyers personality, making them both likable AND unsettling as characters. Despite its reputation for being disturbing and gross, the original film was actually always intended to be funny according to Tobe Hooper himself, if I’m not mistaken. The sequel just leaned into the humor that was already there to begin with (hence why I tend to disagree when people talk about how vastly different TCM 2 is compared to the first). TCM works best when it doesn’t take itself too seriously,
Along with this, what really made the original film so effective was its subtlety and implications, and how much it managed to accomplish while showing very little. The scariest part about it wasn’t just what we saw, but what we didn’t and the blanks we had to fill in on our own. The moment the franchise started leaning into a darker, gorier tone and forgetting the core that made the first two films great, is the moment the franchise started falling flat for me. And my concern is that this new one is going to be exactly that. A disturbing, gory, miserable mess that’s so far removed from what TCM originally was.
I LOVE stories like the book Brother by Ania Ahlborn that lean into darker themes with the whole backwoods cannibal family trope. But that’s just not what TCM should be imo. I don’t want a film where the family is stripped of any likable traits and are just bad people doing bad things to good, likable people for shock value. If they go the House of 1000 Corpses route where the family is absolutely despicable but still manages to be likable with the right amount of humor and absurdity, then it can work. But I’m worried that’s not what they’re going for here. I just feel like TCM needs its whimsy back.
TLDR: I’m worried that the direction this film is going in is already setting up a tone that’s way too dark. TCM works best when it doesn’t take itself too seriously and I wish they’d just go back to dark comedies.
Sorry for the long rant, I’m kinda totally insane about TCM. I’m also really bad at tethering and explaining my thoughts so sorry if none of this made sense. 😭
I don’t know what’s funnier. The fact that Chop-Top’s real name is actually Robert, or that people used to think it was Paul and you can still find proof of this via old fanfics.
My 8 year old little sister just saw a picture of Chop-Top, and without knowing who he was or that it was a character that I like, she very genuinely asked “Why is he so ugly?”
