Hello everyone! Besides one small hiccup (which will hopefully be resolved shortly, and that person has been notified) all of the SG Holiday Exchange assignments are out!

If you have not received a message from me tonight and should be participating reach out ASAP!

It admittedly is late, and I’m tired and have almost made a few mistakes tonight so it’s not outside of the realm of possibility that I could have made a few! Please reach out if something doesn’t look right or isn’t working, or you have another issue.

You should be hearing from your person in the next few days. If you don’t hear from anyone by the end of Sunday or early Monday please reach out to me and we’ll get it straightened out!

Also, please please double check that you enable anonymous messages to your blog! This is always a big issue every year so if we can just get this out of the way early, that would be great! Thank you everyone!

(Also for those of you who are interested, we only have one less person participating than last year and a lot of new faces this time around! I’m so excited that our fandom continues to thrive!)

Announcing the First Ever Sisters Grimm Minibang!

What’s a minibang? 

A Big Bang (or “Bang” for short) is a specific type of challenge usually involving long fics and accompanying artwork. This type of challenge is a reprise of the old zine tradition of collaboration between artists and writers for internet fandoms.

Most Big Bangs have a similar format: Writers sign up to take part in the challenge and begin writing stories. When the early drafts of the stories are available, each one is assigned one or more artists, or artists might claim stories from posted summaries. Artists create fanart to go along with the story. This art can take the form of illustrations, manips, photo collages, vids, icon sets, etc. (Fanlore Wiki)

A Minibang is the same thing, but shorter!

Minimum word count for fics is 1,500 words. Maximum 10,000 words.

Nothing rated E—this is an all-ages event!

If you have a problem with anything, tell the mods! We want this to be fun, so if you can’t get in contact with your partners or a life event comes up, reach out and we’ll talk.

The timeline:

Sign-ups open March 11 and close March 26th.

Claims for artists and beta readers open April 1 and close April 15th

Check in 1: Writers only; Due May 7

Sisters Grimm Holiday Exchange Entry Post 2021

Hello everyone, it’s finally here!

Reblog this post to be included in The Sisters Grimm Holiday Exchange 2021!

Welcome to the 2021 holiday gift exchange! Like in years past, the idea of this gift exchange is to meet new people in the fandom and surprise someone with a gift for the holidays! When you enter this exchange you will be anonymously paired with another person, and someone will be paired with you.

The idea is to message them on anon to get to know what they like and then create art, fic, edits, whatever you can think of that would be a good holiday gift and then post it on the assigned day, tagging your person! The person assigned to you will do the same, so everyone makes a gift, and receives a gift!

Please fill out this optional form to hopefully make your pairing more compatible (This is COMPLETELY OPTIONAL, you do NOT need to fill it out to enter the exchange!

Also! There is a new question this year- for those of you that participated last year, there is an option to have your answers from last year used again for this year, no need to refill out the entire form, though you are able to if you want!)

A full explanation of the event:

1. Reblog this post or fill out the form by Midnight CST Wednesday, December 8th

2. Assignments will go out December 10th

3. Deliver your present either to their submit box, by tagging them, or some other way by January 10th (Due to the success of Grimmtober it was decided to push the deadline back into January to avoid any burn out!) 

4. Use the time in between to get to know your person (on anon to keep the surprise!) and create your gift. Be creative and have fun!

Who we Grew to Be

HAPPY HOLIDAYS @vertdegrece!!!! You asked for grown up Daphne/Pinocchio, so you got a lot of vaguely purple prose leading up to adult Daphnocchio! I haven’t written for this ship in a while, I forgot that I like it!

Daphne and Pinocchio do not grow up together. That would be too easy. Daphne stalls out for a little bit at eleven, when she gets her first zit, but besides that, she grows like any human child: straight through. 

Pinocchio, on the other hand, grows in fits and starts. He’s been cursed that way, because the Blue Fairy, his absent mother, takes as much as she gives. All her blessings have a little bit of the monkey’s paw about them, so he only grows as old as he acts, forever cursed to act his own age.

The upshot of this is that they don’t spend much time together in childhood. Daphne is much closer to Red, who grows at the same pace she does. Pinocchio, too, is closer to Red. They live in the same house, after all. And Red may be aging at the same pace as her best friend, but she’s got a sort of ageless quality about her that makes it easy for Pinocchio to spend time with her no matter how different their ages are, physically.

Oh, they see each other nearly all of every summer, when Henry and Veronica pack up their rarely-used car to make the drive up from NYC to Ferryport Landing, towing their children with them. Summers are nice. Daphne likes summer, when she has her whole family together in Granny’s newly-renovated ramble of a house for two entire months. Even Puck and Uncle Jake are nearly always there.

But they don’t hang out. Daphne out-ages Pinocchio for the first two years, the growing difference between seven and nine not nearly as much of an impediment as Pinocchio’s snobby brattishness. Then he makes a leap forward, catching up and almost outstripping her to ten. They leapfrog their way through childhood, only matching up briefly every few years. Then he makes a final jump from sixteen and moody to somewhere much closer to twenty, and he’s off to university while Daphne is still sixteen herself, and he throws himself into the kind of universities that he now looks old enough to be a student at.

ALSO! I wanted to share that this year we have nearly 20 people participating!! This is really cool for a fandom that occasionally carries the stigma of ‘dying’. We’re alive and well! I know last year I didn’t run one of these (my apologies) but in 2018 we only had 11 people participate! We’re growing! Congrats everyone, and thank you so much for your enthusiasm! I can’t wait to see what you all create!
