hope you’re having a great day! thanks for visiting my blog! xo
So I see you all are exhausted by streaming services effectively recreating cable. I see you’re all tired of ads. Pirating is a great alternative, but I have another fantastic option for you all!
I live in Seattle. And in Seattle we have America’s largest physical media store, Scarecrow Video. They are a non-profit that has pretty much any film or tv show you can imagine. Like, everything. So much so that one of our local cinemas does a program with them called “Unstreamable” where they show a film from Scarecrow’a archive that you can’t access anywhere online. It’s a bit overwhelming to go to their store, which is two levels of every program under the sun.
ANYWAY, I bring this up because they recently started a Rent-by-Mail program. It’s pretty similar to what Netflix used to do. You can rent up to six titles (barring their super rare stuff and pornos) and they will ship it to you, then you return it in the included pre-paid envelope.
Why does this rock? Sure, you still have to pay money, BUT you are supporting a non-profit that is dedicated to preserving media instead of some corporation looking for endless profit. They can also expand your palette with their vast selection. And if you have a favorite piece of media, you never have to worry about it disappearing! All their stuff is there in perpetuity.
So this is all to say, now that Scarecrow has expanded their reach beyond the Greater Seattle Area, I implore you to check them out. If you don’t want to rent right now, the could always use donations to keep them afloat.
For all the people who were looking to get into either dc or dp and didn't want to pay the full price to get the rare stuff, behold: an easy way to sample series and episodes and at little personal cost to you! They have a whole comics section.
I wanna figure out what drives people mad about Batman Animated now please and thank you

Hi! Happy March! Thank you for saying happy Valentine's Day haha. Did you do anything for it or even galentine's day? I really believe it could be for friends as well and celebrating all love. Plus, I love chocolate and pink haha. I didn't really do anything though. I really was supposed to reply at the beginning of the month and I'm sorry! I hope this month has been good for you so far and I like that you have been working on your goals. It's totally okay to just pop in occasionally and that you want to use it less. Omg how was SF for you? I was also in SF twice for shows near the end of the month!
Thanks for your opinion on her books! I think it's interesting how different and the same Beach Read and Book Lovers feel to me so far. I do like the sister relationship in Book Lovers, while Beach Read had more of a story almost. But I feel like I was going to go chronologically anyway. But now they have announced the lead casting of January! What do you think? You probably have more of an opinion than me, and I haven't watched Bridgerton so it's hard to imagine her acting in a modern setting lol cuz I haven't watched anything else she did either. I know that Emily Bader was in My Lady Jane as well, which is also a period drama though. Plus, I still think of your Book Lovers casting of Simone Ashley and Jonathan, who are also from Bridgerton! I will try to use that as inspiration when it comes, but I feel like it's a sign that I should read Beach Read next. I did start Funny Story a while ago and saw someone say picturing Nick and Jess from New Girl and that worked well for a while. Idk if they have cast Gus, but I see a lot of people say Logan Lerman, and what would you think of that? Not sure, I honestly pictured Jess and Rory at first, but will try to think of the movie casting when its announced. Hopefully the movie will be good though! It's funny that I read People we Meet in January instead of Beach Read, since the characters name is January lol.
Unfortunately I have not been reading at all. There are so many books that I feel like wanting to check out but never get around to it really and forget about it or them. One book was the Favorites, while Wuthering Heights and figure skating was going on, but now it feels too late idk and I can't remember if I ever started. I think I will try to get back to some reading today and don't really know where to start so hopefully I make some progress the next time I reply. Short stories are interesting sometimes but don't really work for me when there's so many other books but I'm glad you're enjoying them and maybe they work when you have limited time, but I feel like I didn't really have time this month anyway.
I was definitely happy for Olivia winning, but sad for Hayley. The bright side was that for two of her nominations, she ended up losing to the Cure's album, which absolutely deserved their win too. Haha omg I totally agree Sabrina's outfit is similar to Glinda, now that you mentioned it haha. I am also probably gonna watch the Oscars this weekend and finally going to watch Sinners this weekend! I am very interested after seeing interviews about how he played both characters and twins, obviously haha. Otherwise, I haven't seen any of the other movies but that's okay.
I finally listened to Del Water Gap's new album and enjoyed it! What are your fav songs? How was the concert? I finally remembered to listen to it, cuz he was kinda similar to Harry, which I also listened to this week. Harry's album was just okay for me, which is typical of his other music as well but I still liked it! I also got tickets for Zayn's tour a month ago, and I'm excited for his album. Also Niall just announced a new song, which is just funny to me, that all of these are around the same time, since Louis Tomlinson's album was also in January, but it's fun to compare for me. Lights, one of my fav artists, released her deluxe extended album with 8 new songs so I was mostly playing that, and I went to the concert near the end of the month which was really fun, even though I also went last year. Twenty one pilots also had a concert movie in theaters that I watched this month, which was cool.
I am excited for Noah and Maisie's albums too, and excited to listen to a new album by a band called Cannons near the end of the month. I also just played Mitski's new album and am mostly playing her and Harry for the week.
I agree with you on the live instruments and could see why that could be distracting. It's also hard to imagine for that show music wise, but it does work for other shows. Anyway the Notebook was amazing! What did you think? Our rush seats were amazing and pretty close, like 5th row and that made the experience so much better. It was fun for me, cuz I didn't know or remember how they did it in the musical. Like it was interesting to see how they split up the timelines for a bit, which makes sense actually. I also didn't know when Act 1 was over until intermission but it felt way longer than act 2, so that was easy to pick and I was more invested. My favorite part was the younger actors and their love story and I almost like how it's almost like following 3 stories in a way haha. The tour cast was amazing and the young actors felt most like the actors from Broadway, John and Jordan, but in a good way! My favorite songs were My Days, Dance With Me, Kiss Me, Carry You Home, and I Wanna Go Back. I specifically liked seeing all the actors interact in that song and their past selves. What did you think? What were your favorite songs? I only cried a little at the end, but one girl near me was sobbing haha. The show was just beautiful and at times emotional. I'm so glad I was able to go and make it work!
I had an expensive month too haha but don't have much anything planned for a bit. I guess I'm hoping to see Hayley's tour in May, and Phantom too in June but we will see! I hope you have an amazing time at your upcoming concerts though! You can always take your time replying and I think these once a month updates pretty much work for me now. I will always enjoy talking to you though and hope you are well!
happy june, my friend! i hope you've been doing well! my galentines' day plan was a concert (went to see del water gap in seattle) + then went to san francisco (and ended up getting a last minute ticket to see dwg again) for a couple days to see family! the masonic is such a beautiful space! i always love going to san francisco, i'm hoping to be back down there again really soon. unfortunately the weather was not great while we were there, but that's okay! how were your shows? what's been new for you? how have you been?
i'm hoping that the beach read movie will be better than i expect, but i think that both the january and gus are miscast, so we'll see :( i'm not feeling particularly hopeful or excited about it. i think that phoebe will be a better january than the guy they got for gus, who is just ... deeply deeply miscast in my opinion. i really liked emily bader's poppy, she's very fun and charming in my lady jane too!
i've been reading a bit! i need to make my reading thread on here, but it's been a very hit or miss reading year for me honestly! i've been trying to do a classic, a play and a nonfiction a month though, so that's been going well!
the del water gap concert was really fun! he puts on a great show and i've been wanting to see him live since i first got into his music in 2021 so i'm glad it finally worked out. i'm really excited that he's opening for gracie in seattle — got tickets to see them here in seattle! on chasing the chimera, my favorites are eastside girls, ghost in the uniform, and how to live! but i love the album a lot 🤍
oh! i did an album a day in april, which was fun but didn't find a whole lot of things i LOVED. still trying to fix my algorithm from that so it gives me suggestions i actually like though! i did enjoy the new noah kahan a lot (seeing him in august!) and the new maisie is growing on me (but i still like the good witch a lot more). what about you? thoughts on either? what are you listening to?
oh! i'm so glad you liked the notebook tour !! 🤍 i was really distracted when i saw it (terrible audience etiquette near me) but i loveeeed alysha's middle allie — a standout for me for sure! her my days was so so good. i also saw les mis on tour in april, and then saw the phantom tour last month! both were very good, but the phantom tour awakened something in me (phantom was one of the first shows i LOVED as a kid haha) so that's been fun! did you end up seeing phantom?
OH! and tonys this weekend! are you rooting for anything in particular? i'm very excited to watch the performances!
hope you've been well! so sorry again this was so late!! 🤍 life got away from me!
COCO!!!!!!!!!! did you listen to holly humberstones new album? what do you think!!!
sending much love and a few kisses <3
lindsay!! this is so late, i apologize!! 🤍 i did listen and it's definitely growing on me! i don't think the lyrics are as strong as some of her other work but i think the production is very fun/catchy — my top three favorites are white noise, blue dream & to love somebody! i love the videos she's been putting out though & i was thrilled to see she was inspired by the red shoes! i'm really excited to see her at the end of the month 🤍 it'll be my third time seeing her, it's just been so lovely to see her career grow over the years! what about you? 🤍 hope you're doing well !!
objectively just a bad reading of les mis and completely missing the point of the book/stage show/musical to compare a billionaire to jean val jean especially given the power dynamics and the character motivations behind javert and also jvj and also these people but what else can you expect from some people on here 🤍
