Finally got around to watching Squid Game Season 3 and while I didn't love everything they did in the last two seasons, it did, in my opinion, have one of the most holy shit perfect endings I've ever seen.

#lmao telling my husband about it last night and they kept being like oh that's a pretty good end and I was like THAT'S NOT IT YET #they aren't sure if they can watch because of some specific triggers (they did watch season 1 and we skipped stuff but it was still rough)#but they do like the story and wanted to know and they called the detective getting the authorities there and it not mattering #so they were THRILLED with that as was I #and the show managed to make me not hate the whole baby thing! I think it was a nice way to have a lot of characters successfully #save SOMEONE even though they couldn't make a bigger difference than that. but it still MATTERED.#and I loved that Gi-Hun got his final moment of defiance and it was small and probably didn't shake things much but it still mattered too #I was so worried going into seasons 2 and 3 that they would be successful in taking down the games #but no!! they move but they do not stop and I'm so fucking happy at the pointed america has theses problems too at the end #(not to say the show isn't focused on specific South Korean experiences just that I do think some of the audience took that as like #oh those poor people this could only happen somewhere else #and I like that the show has a pointed note both that the american viewers are the VIPs AND that they could be players just as easily)

update: this was definitely a panic thought in the midst of the worst of the pain/exhaustion and I've already been feeling so much better today. Still think I was a bit under-prepared but it's all manageable.

its always helpful imo to remember theres a cis person with whatever problem you have as a trans person 9/10 times. theres a cis man as short as you, a cis woman as tall as you, with hands and feet as big or small as yours. theres a cis woman scared to go out without shaving twice a day, theres a cis man whos upset bc he will never grow a beard. theres a cis woman who worries her infertility makes her less of a woman, and theres a cis man feeling similarly about his lack of potency. theres cis women who dilate and cis men with phalloplasty. theres a cis man scared that painting his nails will make people think hes not really a man and a cis woman whos exhausted with spending hours grooming just so people treat her like she wants to be treated as a woman. they dont put it in the terms we do but theyre worried that these problems make them inadequate at the gender they want people to see them as. our patriarchal system has made the boxes were supposed to fit into so small and you arent alone in not fitting it--nobody really fits

#I think about this a lot #it always helps me to make myself really look at people too because like #it's easy for me to get caught up in the societal ideal for A Man and compare myself to that #but like. men I see every day are much more like me than like that ideal and they're all still men and I am too
