the sense im getting here is that
- grad school: stressful and joyless
- career: soul-crushing and banal
- dating: perilous and humiliating
- unsure path: unstable and desolate
- obsessed with some freak: life is beautiful

i know now why I'm so sad
i'm not missing, I'm mourning
i will always love them yet also not
past version that don't exist now
mourning what could be

our (my) biggest desire is to belong, a community, to be understood even when you say the wrong things
so that the silence before sleep don't haunt you
and mornings are an endeavours worth risking
and entertainment you enjoy sharing
to say something and it being immediately understood, not in the literal sense but to be understood enough that it doesn't lead to misunderstandings

literally though if you feel like your life is slipping through your fingers and every day goes too fast… try doing hard things, not just taking the easy route, like reading and making art and exercising and cooking a meal from scratch and journaling, doing these things without distraction, without being absorbed on a screen… the time will stretch and you’ll be reminded that life is long and beautiful if you make it so.
“It’s not ‘natural’ to speak well, eloquently, in an interesting articulate way. People living in groups, families, communes say little–have few verbal means. Eloquence–thinking in words–is a byproduct of solitude, deracination, a heightened painful individuality.”
— Susan Sontag, As Consciousness Is Harnessed to Flesh (via the-book-diaries)
you ever listen to a song 47 times in a row and every time you’re like wow what a good song. I’m gonna play it again.

When we blame ourselves we feel that no one else has a right to blame us. It is the confession, not the priest, that gives us absolution. When Dorian Gray had finished the letter, he felt that he had been forgiven.
Is insincerity such a terrible thing? I think not. It is merely a method by which we can multiply our personalities.
There were moments when he looked on evil simply as a mode through which he could realize his conception of the beautiful
