Herm coming home after a 15 hour shift that was paced like a regular show episode where he watched half of Torrance get leveled, got flung into actual literal hell for a few minutes and then accidentally gut punched by flambae getting swatted out of the sky just to see three of his cats gave birth on his unfolded laundry while he was gone, a new leak sprung from his grandma’s ceiling who hasn’t used the bathroom or ate dinner yet (it’s 11 pm) and also there’s cat shit all over the floor

because yeah he’s egregiously wet but he’s also like. the absolute perfect phenotype for a lame janitor / maintenance guy with how easily he can melt into the background. outside of that ugly suit and goggles put him in any normal work uniform and he’s just like. a regular dude in his 20s. Out of everyone in z-team he’s the least visual expectant of a hero. he could lie and say he just started as a lair custodian like yesterday and the henches would prob believe him. Do you think herm even bothers to turn on his sink sometimes? Imagine he’s doing the dishes but he’s feeling lazy or he doesn’t want to rack up the water bill so he soaps everything up then goes super soaker 3000 on it. or does he think its like, unethical

Fortunately with how quick he was to just full on hork on every surface at sdn I can 100% get behind herm saving a few cents on the water bill by sourcing his own body instead

Do you think Waterboy has hypermobility or that he is just really flexible? (e.g. him bending over to pet a cat in the comics)

I like to think he does! I’ve seen a lot of retellings from folks with hypermobility claiming it overlaps into joint pain territory too, which is what I hc his pads to be for. Growth pains must’ve sucked nasty for the dude.

Also means there’s an excuse to pretzel him and have him do damn near boneless poses

the way you draw waterboy is so great cause you don't infantilise him. i related to his crippling anxiety quite a bit in the game but sometimes he really does act like an anime girl, and it's not helping with how people portray him online 😞. anyway love your art keep drawing him disgusting, i also relate to that spiritually

Really appreciate it :] my own experiences with anxiety / low confidence have been real messy and gross internally, so I like to see rep I can acc get behind. Especially with overthinking and intrusive thoughts, to me he's generally just like a really panicky. overcompensating fuckin' guy. Like that coworker that's chill but you can tell his gears never really stop turning.

Like the small detail, that both Robert and Waterboy have noticable eyebags. The reason why for Robert is clear, but for Waterboy you have to read between the lines a bit (primary caretaker for his grandma, stressed 24/7 bc of his anxiety, bad sleeping habits, gets bullied on the job, probably doesn't take any kind of meds bc no money and grandma + cats go first)

I want to see Waterboy breaking down in season 2, but not because of anger this time. That or him lashing out on Flambae, who made fun of him for living with his grandma (he believes, Waterboy has no responsibilies and so on).

YES!! his goggles kind of obscure them but you cannot tell me there won’t be visible signs of stress on herm 24/7 with the life he’s lived, I fw his brow line shadow being darker as well. I mean, he’s also a WICKED workaholic. Its not as obvious as Robert but I can imagine he’s so accustomed to staying busy due to his home life

if you referred to this guy as ‘kid’ I’d assume you’re talking about like a 20 y/o intern or something not this wet monster. Theres points made previously of the artstyle, too. The whole cast is straight up just beautiful and age ambiguous by default

the ear tear comment can be accredited to my gf as she’s a budding robertologist and transformice veteran. if herm was an animal jammer he deffo was too broke for a membership and got stuck as one of the boring starter animals from when the game first came out

slightly related hc however: i think his gma subscribed to those highlights activity book magazines that came in the mail when herm was tiny, but had to be the one to hold them for obvious reasons
