&. for @fthaerim * ↪ a practice room, dingbat company, january 2019
aside from her family house, the practice room was the one place siyeon truly felt at home. the dorms, while used for sleeping and spending downtime, weren’t places she could really called home. being at the dorms just reminded her that she was still under scrutiny and rules, even if it was only their manager whenever they decided to drop by or do random spot checks. but when she was in an empty studio, she was brought back to her childhood which she spent most of her time in, practicing and practicing and practicing, and that felt like home to her. it was something so ingrained in her, so natural, that even though she was still technically under a watchful eye, she hardly remembered the fact and could solely focus on dancing.
as a result, it’s not out of the ordinary to find siyeon in a vacant practice room whenever she has no schedules. in fact, if someone was in a hurry to locate her, they would be able to here there 8 out of 10 times so to anyone who knows her, it’s unsurprising that she also chose today to do some self-practice. she and the other lovecraft girls had been told that they would be starting preparations for their next comeback soon which meant strict diets and extra practice (or for siyeon, even more practice) so she wanted to make use of every possible spare moment.
after doing the usual stretches, she launches straight into the choreo for some of their past songs to warm up and then starts on the dance cover she’d been working on for fun. everything was going smoothly just like it always did and because she’s always so absorbed and focused when in the zone, siyeon doesn't notice the small droplets of sweat on the floor and thus, can't step around it. instead, she slips on it when she goes to do a turn and promptly falls on her behind, legs thrust out from the force.
she first lets out a short yell from the suddenness and then a grimace follows once she feels a jolt of pain shoot from her foot through her leg. her first thought is not wondering if she’s okay for her own personal well-being, but is wondering if this will affect their upcoming comeback. not only is she the main dancer of the group but the center on top of that so there’s a certain added pressure in addition to her already strong pride and determination to always be the best. she relies on her body so much for her career so the thought of having to potentially sit out of promotions if it turns out to be bad enough shape makes siyeon feel like she failed, and failure is never an option for her.
but before she can get too wrapped up in her thoughts, she reminds herself to figure out if she's really injured or not first so she drags herself over to her bag--which thankfully isn't too far from where she fell--and pulls out her phone to send a text.
✉ msg → leader ♡ ↪ can you come to the practice room at the company right now? please ;;;
after including the practice room number she was currently occupying, she sends the message and promptly falls backward to lay on the floor. now’s as good as time as any to rest, she supposes.
