he hates awkward.

he tries to avoid it as often as he can, though he finds that in certain situations ( read: this one ) it isn’t as escapable as he’s comfortable with. eating in silence with someone else has never been comfortable for him, and the fact that it’s xiao of all people has him seconds away from experiencing a goddamn hernia. jae wants to be civil about things because, for the most part, he’s a civil guy ! but staring down at the other slurping down his pasta like he doesn’t know how he’d broken his brother’s heart, something stirs inside jae that’s far from cordial. 

there are three things he wants to say.

“no matter how quiet you are, it doesn’t escape the fact that you’re now ‘n here, xiao.” he begins coldly, hand gripping his glass of water tighter than before. “and it doesn’t escape the fact that i see ya for what y’really are.” a sip of water, a hand combing through golden hair, before eyes bore into the other ‘97 liner’s once more. “no one else may see it, but i can, and i’ll be damned if i’m just goin’ to sit pretty with the knowledge that you ? you hurt people.” one. “you’re selfish, xiao.” two. 

“and you’e a coward.” three.

tall figure moves to stand, and before the rapper leaves he drops a handful of clean cut won on the table, leaning over to the other with a cold, smug smirk. “tell ‘em to keep the change.”

he mentions it first around a mouthful of pan fried pork buns, the tv humming softly in front of them left neglected. ordinary, stress-free nights at the dorm are spent like this, usually: takeaway food and whatever variety shows are on propped up on the dorm living room’s communal table, though it’s usually masked by chatter ( in their case, there’s the occasional bicker, quick-witted retort or two ). but tonight they’ve got the dorm to themselves, the other boys off who knows where, leaving more room for banter between he and hajoon ( as if they needed any more room for it, really ). and while the dinner had started out with just that — smart quips and brusque witticisms and all — things had fallen into a low hum, both idols now preoccupied with the food, glorious food laid out in front of them.

he says it first like this: “you know, i think you might be one of my best friends.”

he almost chokes on his own spit, then and there, because tough guy jae seo doesn’t do feelings ( this isn’t entirely true; anyone who knows him and his family can prove otherwise, but he’s always had different rules for them, anyway ). he tries to process his spur of the moment words but comes up short, and while he now tries to hide his face behind his cup of iced tea there’s no denying his rose flushed ears, lighting up like twin bulbs.

“i mean.” jae clears his throat, trying to salvage himself from embarrassment, god forbid. “i think you could be one of my best friends if you weren’t so damn wrong about your opinions all the time.” confidence begins to rebuild itself inside him, and now jae has the courage to even look up with a broad smirk.

things are fine as they are, he thinks; hajoon already knows how much he means to him anyway.

“so, again, about pineapples on pizza …”

 send 🌈 for my muse’s favorite kind of weather 

    miyeon doesn’t particularly enjoy sunny days. perhaps, it’s a result of her inner cynic — considering she’s not too fond of bright things, unless they’re luxurious or seductive in nature  (   like a bright diamond, or a bold red lip  !  ). she’s always found a certain beauty in dark, gloomy things. 

   or perhaps, the answer to her preference is far more superficial — she’s aware of how easily the sun damages her skin, and she isn’t fond of spending time outdoors. she has too much work to do to be enjoying nature — or whatever it is that people love to brag about. 

    that being said, she’s not fond of the bitter winter, either. she prefers a warm, but brisk day — a cool, crisp breeze balances out a humid day perfectly. there’s less perspiration, less melted foundation — but she can wear her favourite crop tops and mini skirts without risking quivering limbs. 

   the weather she loves the most is a humid and rainy day. the rain gives her an excuse to lock herself away in the practice room for hours on end, without judgment from her fellow members or other trainees for being such a fucking workaholic. the snickers and murmurs don’t particularly bother miyeon, but she gets tired of being nice to people she can’t really stand all the damn time. a rainy day gives miyeon the perfect excuse to practice and work on her choreographies — without being interrupted by her group members inviting her to boring group activities.

↪ send 💫 for one place they sometimes end up falling asleep

the feel of tiredness was almost a constant on Diana’s life, and probably on any other idol’s life in general. still, it was not usual for her to actually have much trouble sleeping -even if she did some night escapes that weren’t quite good for her strict practice training- or to find herself falling asleep during the day due to overwork. she had mastered a secret trick to avoid that: the art of micro-napping, which consisted, as the name could suggest, of taking very short naps of no more than thirty minutes scarcely during the day to catch up on sleep. 

thus, Diana had developed the habit of quietly zoning off from time to time, while on a break or a schedule free moment, no matter where she was at. and, without a proper place to sleep, she had retorted -unconsciously- to the only sure elements that were always around her: libra. her fellow group member’s shoulders or their lap or sometimes even their back suddenly became the places Diana rested her head for a minute and ended up having one of her micro-naps. she, of course, apologized the firsts times that happened but, at the end, it just became a thing that occurred and everyone accepted.

a thunder was the first signal of the storm incoming. the sound prompted Diana’s head right to the window in her room and seconds later she was running towards it. clouds had been forming during the day and the news had advised of a heavy storm for that evening, but hours had passed and no drop of rain had fallen from the sky during day. until now. a lightning flashed through the sky almost breaking it in two halves and suddenly water was everywhere. the hum of the drops pouring over the grown created a soft symphony, it wasn’t a heavy rain, the kind that makes you believe the world may end at any moment, it was thin, constant and intense, but delicate. 

Diana’s smile grew bigger in her face as she contemplated it. but just watching didn’t feel enough. and even if she knew it was childish and uncalled for, she could contain the need of running for the second time and leaving her shared room. she went outside with her tank top and practice sweatpants, barely stopping before leaving to change her shoes, and just led the rain fall into her. arms all open and face towards the sky, it had been a hot summer day and the water was welcoming.

a new lightning broke through the sky and Diana shivered. yet it wasn’t fear nor cold what cause it but excitement.

it’s cute, really, the effort that miyeon puts into this thing she does with everyone. while it’s never had any sort of effect on him, he notices with others, how they flush at her attention and her shameless libidinous attitude towards anyone she thinks she can get something out of. he can appreciate her determination and dedication to it, especially when she approaches him after he witnesses one of his juniors he’s seen her spend quite a bit of time with rolling his eyes at her and walking off to likely find one of his other members. understandable.

it’s hard not to laugh when she’s glancing up at him through her lashes, body language speaking at the same caliber as her coquettish tone. silas can only imagine the trouble she gets into with her managers and other staff when they catch her doing things like this, especially as a trainee. fortunately for her, he’s not the type to snitch. she’s young, and she’ll learn over time how the industry will break her down and rid her of her uniqueness and mold her into exactly what they want her to be. for now, she can have this.

that doesn’t mean he’s going to play into it. “you can stop looking at me like that, you know. you’re far too young for me, darling,” he teases with a pat to her head, following his junior’s example and taking off to grab another drink for himself.

as it was, hajoon never really paid much attention to the weather growing up. of course, he’s much more conscientious about it now (dressing appropriately was crucial in a country that actually had all four seasons throughout the year; making sure he had an umbrella when it rained and a padded coat when it snowed, an electric hand fan during the summer season and a box of reusable hand warmers for when the temperature dropped) but he was a child of reckless abandon during his younger years.there’s a strong belief amongst some that the weather can change and affect someone’s mood. when the clouds line the sky and turn it into an almost seemingly picturesque monochrome patchwork, a person’s mind and motivation slows and they become sluggish, gloomy. the sun peaks out from behind and brightens up the atmosphere and suddenly a person can become more lively and upbeat. hajoon didn’t believe any of that, or let any of that sway his mood while growing up in chuncheon; he was the wild card amongst the kwak family, always up for a game, an adventure, a challenge. always wanting to try new things and go out and play even if it was pouring rain outside and he was told to stay indoors.of course, there were times when he’d come back with a bunch of scrapes on his knees and elbows or he would catch a cold and he wouldn’t hear the end of it from his sister, but to him it was worth it. hajoon was easily the optimist of the family. the go-getter. he wouldn’t let anything stop him if he put his mind to something. always the loud mouth with something to say, grinning from ear to ear. always the one who was daring, despite the strain he had with his father always being absent and his mother putting the blame on him for it, resenting him for a problem he couldn’t control.in some cases, he was like the sun. he radiated its energy. it might not be able to be seen on some days, hidden behind an array of clouds, but it was always there. it, without fail, would always come up the next morning even when days take a turn for the worst, when life gets hard, and situations are suffocating or seem impossible to solve.hajoon never really thought baout what his favorite kind of weather was, because he always found a way to roll with the punches and make them count. he didn’t care if it was too cold or too hot, if the weather was just right. whether it be sunny, cloudy, rainy, windy or even snowy, he always found a way to make things enjoyable for himself and for those around him.
