blaiz watched her carefully as she moved about the room and made note of the way she turned her back to him; finally, he mused a relief settling over him. sheโd begun to trust him. though he still didnโt understand why it seemed to matter so much, it wasnโt like it meant the same things to her. how could it? her fingers moved through her hair quickly and he imagined for a moment his own fingers being tangled in her long locks.ย
he shook his head roughly as if to erase the thoughts from his mind just before she turned to look at him again, and he refocused his attention to the words she spoke. the directness she seemed to assert about his wants left him with a quite nagging in the back of his mind, like there was something sheโd meant to insinuate. but he didnโt dare assume the same in return. even if she was right; he did want her, but he hadnโt gotten her. not really.
the prince lifted his right hand to his temple and began to rub it as though it would really stop the ache in his head from forming.ย โ itโs both, โ he reassured her simply with a shrug.ย โ of course my mother wants to know, but i havenโt decided what iโll tell her. โ the information had the potential to be useful to his mother, but blaiz felt it was all the more reason he should give her a false lead. keep what heโd learned to himself.ย
โ clarke, โ he began laying back on the end of the bed with his hands propped under his head as a pillow.ย โ sheโs become quite infamous among my people. for what sheโs done at the mountain. โ the prince explained, turning his head to look at her.ย โ they call her wanheda. commander of death. โ though from everything venus had told him so far, it sounded much like there was more than one commander of death in their camp.ย โ my mother wants her dead. โ

๐๐๐ ๐๐๐๐๐ makes her gaze on him soften,ย ย a silent gratitude shown in those earthy orbs.ย ย she has no qualm in telling them what they want to know if it keeps her alive;ย ย she just has to make sure she doesnโt run out of information.ย ย sighing at the mention of clarkeโs name,ย ย venusโ shoulders slump a little as she crosses the space between the dresser and the vanity and climbs back onto the fur-covered bed.
she moves the book to place it on the nightstand next to the bed before she makes herself comfortable.ย ย something in her stomach flutters as she turns to lie on her side;ย ย itโs a seemingly intimate moment in a way that she doesnโt understand,ย ย butโno.ย ย no,ย ย she gets it.ย ย sheโs letting herself be vulnerable with him in letting herself get comfortable.ย ย venus might not understand much about herself,ย ย but that much she understands.ย ย with her face against the soft pillows,ย ย she can feel the shift.
โ infamous? โย ย she frowns,ย ย reaching down to grab one of the furs and wrap her arms around it as if sheโs cuddling something.ย ย ย โ they call clarke that? โย ย venus doesnโt understand;ย ย the mountain men were a threat to the grounders,ย ย so why is clarke famous in a bad way for getting rid of them?ย ย her brows are visibly furrowed but her eyes remain somewhat soft as she asks,ย ย ย โ clarke helped to get rid of them and your people are mad about it?ย ย and your mother...ย ย ย โ
is this what all her information amounts up to?ย ย is this why sheโs still alive?ย ย is venus going to be the reason clarke is killed by blaizโs people;ย ย his mother?ย ย clarke is the sole reason venus naiman and so many others are alive.ย ย vee clenches her eyes shut,ย ย arms wrapping a little tighter around the bundle of furs in her arms.ย ย ย โ everywhere clarke goes,ย ย trouble follows.ย ย i canโt escape it even now.ย โย ย venus doesnโt dislike clarke;ย ย in fact,ย ย she respects her...ย ย but her words are the truth.
sighing,ย ย she opens her eyes and rolls on her back,ย ย bringing the furs with her as she mumbles,ย ย ย โ figures. โ
