star wars lesson to be filed & reserved for later consultation, the firefight leans against the uncomfortable plastic of the chair – one somewhat reminiscent of her high school days, & equally as worn. posture u n r e f i n e d, one arm hooked at the elbow on the backing, other strewn casually across her lap & legs crossed but lewd. it’s not for effort or appeal, but in her element oakley was nothing but comfortable & relaxed.
“ i’m going to pretend you know what an ewok is, so i’m not forced to movie-cation you in the near future. “ a wink to show she’s playing jest, “ i have to have someone here i can throw around quotes with & take with me to the theaters when episode 9 hits. “
she’s ready to beg, seeing the uncertainty in those GORGEOUS BLUE’S – she’ll even throw in a cherry on top but her mental preparation is for not when lux agrees to the night out. oakley’s smile beams with triumph,
“ i can tell you & i are going to be great friends, chica. “
lux did know what an ewok was --- just, EXTREMELY VAGUELY. she and her dad had worked their way through the star wars movies when she was a child, but very little of it had been committed to memory. more important than the movies themselves was the time spent with her father. oakley though, SHE SEEMED LIKE A BIG FAN. though perhaps not the sort you’d catch heading to chicago comic - con dressed as a ‘ stormtrooper ’ . . . but then again, appearances could be deceiving. “ really ? ? --- i mean, i hope so ! i mean ---- . . . as you can see, us girls are kinda OUTNUMBERED. but i think you might be able to give those boys a run for their money. THINGS TO LOOK OUT FOR THOUGH, rubber snakes in your locker, hidden car keys, whoopee cushions in your bed . . . they like to put the new recruits through their paces. T H I N K ; sorority hazing, but not nearly as cruel. ”
It suddenly struck me that that tiny pea, pretty and blue, was the Earth. I put up my thumb and shut one eye, and my thumb blotted out the planet Earth. I didn’t feel like a giant. I felt very, very small. - Neil Armstrong

“ those ‘ prisoners ’ are SICK --- they need h e l p . . . ”
A sentence opening with an APOLOGY is an ominous one — ‘ sorry I picked up the last frozen dinner ’ or ‘ sorry I rear ended your car ’ but this was more genuine than someone contending for frozen lasagne. “ hey ” Digits that had once defended her iced Manhattan closed around Lux’s hand “ We’ll catch ‘em. ” Cases involving the mistreatment of children were particularly hard to swallow ( think sword not capsule ) “ He’s a BRAVE KID – look, Lux – ” Erin reached into the chest pocket of her shirt and pulled out a small, rectangular card of which was predominantly the FIVE-POINTED STAR OF THE CHICAGO POLICE FORCE “ I can’t talk about this HERE – but my number’s on my card.” She tapped twice on the card, collected her drinks and returned to her friends.
the hand that had been TEMPORARILY ENCASED by the detective picked up the card, pinching it tightly between finger and thumb. the details upon it were only briefly skimmed over, but by the time she glanced back up, erin lindsay had already submerged herself in the crowd. STILL EXHAUSTED, ( yet significantly more hopeful owing to erin’s words of encouragement ) lux returned to her apartment. hermann had been right ; had it not been for her desire to speak with erin, she would not have gone to molly’s that evening, and so once that mission had been fulfilled there was no reason for her to stay. a record breaking FOUR HOURS of sleep was secured that night. the next morning ( after l o n g deliberation ) she called the number on erin’s card and got her voice mail. it shouldn’t have come as a surprise ; erin was in the midst of city wide hunt for a rouge M O N S T E R , but lux still felt her heart quicken as she awaited the dreaded B E E P ! ! “ detective lindsay --- HI, it’s lux. we met at molly’s last night? you gave me your card? well, i um . . . i don’t want to waste your time --- i’m sure you’re busy, BUT --- . . . i thought that maybe if you could spare a little time, i could buy you a coffee --- ? ? i know a place that does great coffee, but is a l w a y s pretty quiet so we wouldn’t be OVERHEARD --- it’s the best kept secret in town. all right, see ya! ”
---- SEE YA ??
❝ do you have any bandages ? ❞
“ i’m never without them. ---- why, ARE YOU HURT ? ? ”
“ You can’t honestly tell me you believe that? After all the terrible things that have happened , you think everyone deserves to live? Even those who spend their lives hurting others? ”
“ w e l l --- i . . . if they didn’t deserve to live, they at least deserved a FAIR TRIAL. ”
❝ use your charms on me and i might take YOUR SHIFT ❞ clarke cackled as she pinched her friend’s cheek playfully - if lux was really sick she wouldn’t let her go to WORK.
laughter spills from pale pink lips as clarke’s hand is playfully swatted away. “ ---- i’m pretty sure that YOU are overqualified for working a fire house ambo. ”

their mother was gone to work, trying to get more rations for octavia, which meant bellamy was stuck taking care of her. or TRYING to at least. she’d had colds before but this was different. she was BURNING to the touch and she could barely talk. no amount of water or food was helping her state which meant she needed the one thing he couldn’t get. MEDICINE. his heart is pounding in his ears as he walks towards medical. he had just started his training as a guard and he could be FLOATED for this but if it saved his sister he’d do it. there’s a hard swallow as he makes his way towards medical, passing other guards and members of the council. the heat at the back of his neck rises as his steps take him closer to crossing a line he never thought he would. sweat slicks his body under the uniform and he’s sure that someone will find out. it’s his preoccupation with his sister and his crime that he doesn’t see her. not until it’s too LATE. shoulder collides with the other, spinning him in the other direction and almost knocking her down in the process. hands reach out to catch her, a haste ❛ sorry ❜ before he really looks at her. he doesn’t remember her name but he does remember her from training. she’s a medic and if anyone can help it, MAYBE it’s her.
“ no —- it’s … ” she splutters in response, whilst establishing her balance. “ it’s me, i … ” not twenty minutes previously one of her tutors, a waspish man who’d long since lost his desire to teach and was counting down the days ‘till retirement, had told her that she didn’t have what it ‘ took ’ to become an ark medic. he had claimed to have the foresight to know that the moment things got tough, she would wilt like an earthly flower. and the worst of it was, SHE HAD BELIEVED HIM. “ i wasn’t looking where i was going. ” better go ahead and add walking down a corridor without colliding with someone to the very long list of things she COULD NOT DO CORRECTLY.
her tongue glides over pink lips with tantalizing n o n c h a l a n c e, a habit she could not be bothered to break; its with self assured measure that oakley presses the borders of friendly & flirtatious. heaven forbid there be inter- work relations, but what harm would befall a woman having a little f u n?
“ aren’t you precious. “
whatever smile she bore only grew a lux’s flustered reaction – one the blonde was not as foreign to as one would assume. her personality could be brash; a lot to take in for one unprepared. she had what most would consider a scintillating personality, one she wore as easily as her own skin.
“ brown, hairy little thing. terrier of some sort. “ her shrug is amused, “ rescued it a few years back from a high-kill shelter. he was due out the next day & he may not be the cutest dog to some but he’s a loyal little dude so – ewok came to stay with me. “
oakley nods towards the other, “ we can go the rounds & you can tell me all about yourself if you like. you know, the basics. or we can skip that & get to know each other better – friday night? i could use a buddy to hit up this club by my apartment. flying solo doesn’t sound nearly as fun as going with YOU. “
“ ---- ewok? ” she repeated. her mind, which has previously being consumed with her use of the word ‘precious’ and what could have been meant by it, recalled the small, fuzzy, creatures, not dissimilar to teddy bears, from the star wars movies. relived to have been offered a temporary distraction, she was able to produce a more RELAXED SMILE. . . . which promptly disappeared when oakley suggested they ‘ hit up ’ a club together, THIS FRIDAY NIGHT. lux was not the type of girl to frequent clubs. not that their was one general ‘ type ’ that did --- but if there was, she was not it. she had given chicago’s club scene what she considered to have been a fair chance. but somewhere between the sweat, drunks, and the constant thumping that made it almost impossible to speak, she’d decided that a night at molly’s was MORE HER SPEED. but regardless of her reluctance to step outside of her comfort zone, she didn’t want to make oakley feel unwelcome. at fire station 51, they were a CLOSE KNIT TEAM. it was difficult to be the new kid --- ( even when said ‘ new kid ’ had a seemingly endless supply of confidence. ) lux herself had been the new recruit only six months earlier. “ ah ---- ” a pause, one last opportunity to decide against this, then “ sure, why not? ”
“ Sometimes I think they deserve to die. Every last one of them. “
“ no ---- no one DESERVES to die. ”
the tired eyes that can’t focus, the bruises that paint his skin, the scars that snake his sore arms could almost insinuate letting his body deteriorate was a priority of bellamy’s. the wear is glaring, but it didn’t reflect the emotional corrosion and turmoil that shook him awake in the middle of the night, plagued his every memory.
exhausted couldn’t begin to describe the feeling.
“ so do you. take it easy and sleep – worry about one less person. ”
his shoulder’s had sunken at least an inch within the past few days, as though they ( and they ALONE ) were carrying the weight of the world upon them. but while he sunk, PIKE GREW TALLER. perhaps it was not the weight of the world on his shoulders, but rather pike using him as a rung on the ladder?
“ i can ALWAYS worry about one more, ” she informed him, as the rumour of a smile drifted across her lips.
❝ you’re just trying to avoid WORK, aren’t you? ❞
“ it’s THANKSGIVING. i’m so full of tofurky i don’t think i’ll be able to move for a week! and my shift begins in --- ” she glances at her watch and, ( instead of concluding the sentence with ACTUAL WORDS, ) can only provide a groan.

okay but why must i always get emotionally invested in tv shows that have so much drama happening BEHIND THE SCENES?
