Roll with it
been making music for several years now and everyday that world gets tighter and tighter. For years its been something that feels unobtainable. Maybe it is? But theres more to it? at least now anyway. But is it? these combative sentences are direct stems from an internal battle that i face and from what i can believe other artists around the world think to. Not to go to far back in the world of music but iâll use an artist like slick rick for example. this is an artist who came up in the world without the expansive internet and without a direct social feed into the vast communities around the globe. Needless to say, he did very well and made a massive claim for himself as a don in the hip hop community. for me he is perfect format for where we are right now. he has a product that we can digest and he has an appeal that we can grab to. gold teeth, and eye patch, simply a swagger that radiates a room. he did this through the feeds at the time. âmtvâ. his iconic music videos with a pea cocking presence made you want more. on the edge of your seat to see whats next. Other artist can be referenced in this same world. NWA,TUPAC,BIGGIE. The names you have come to respect as leaders STILL in this game. other artist circled at the feet of these titans and artist under those acts fought for 2 minutes on stage or 20 people to see them at open mics but these are the names that suffered at the hands of a small world. where your voice could really go in some cases as far as the next street over. going farther back before the mtv generation Rollingstones magazine gave the world insight into communities and cultures that would be unknown without. There has always been a means for sharing creation. Its an understanding that when you've come to the realization that its not necessarily you but rather the targeted masses you may go easier on yourself, but in turn may begin to resent those your reach out to. Theres something interesting about that resentment though. whats interesting is that, the resentment you feel is really a coping tool. its way to validate yourself, and protect the creation that you may have worked weeks, months, years on. Theres a true calm that will wash over when you take down the guard on your music but rather you go crazy with what you're putting out there in the ether. Now what I'm saying is obvious, but id be lying to anyone who reads this if i were to say i wasn't at a time âthe entitled artistâ. What our generation is in, and what others have faced but ours is now extremely hightened, is the umbrella of instant gratification. This is a pressure that can drive one to end it all. But biding the time you have, and appreciation the fact that your brain can utilize all parts to create something from nothing is a moment that will always cause euphoria. There are artist in the south florida area and of course around the country that from a first hand perspective share this âmodelâ. A prime example is Liberty cities own Denzel Curry. he's an artist that has been on the seen for years now, every year theres an evolution in his performances, his creations. But, you can always go back and find the online freestyles, the early performances at mixmasters studios. These are trials and tribulations that dealt with ones consistency. theres hurdles one has to overcome before finally getting to see that gratification. The world will continue to get tighter with artist as music evolves, populations and increase and technology connects us more and more. When it all comes down to it the creatives who just don't stop doing it for them will stand the test of time and will get their dues back.

age and expectation
theres an association of who we need to be at our youth. at 23 i don't understand these confines. Why cant be who we are without an expectation. The only expectation we should have of one another is to consider and to die. These are two subjects that are for some reason both polarizing and confusing. To consider the ones around is taking in the possibility âthe variablesâ Â for why we do what we do. even someone who is a prick is a prick for a reason. the most clear way to put while still being a cliche is that you're not born hateful. A gravity like force must act on. Now how you handle this force relies on your substance that is within you, but not all cant shove this imprinting. while its unfortunate its something to consider when you're speaking with an âopposing personâ. The other expectation to die is unfortunately as far as I'm aware is still an inevitability that once you really come to terms with can sedate your life. offering solace when everything feels like its closing in as you take into consideration the days as they roll on. These are the only expectations to live by. At 23 years old, I've been called âcalm, mature, and grandpaâ. while these terms to describe me never bother me they have left the thoughts of simply âwhyâ. Who's to say theres not a calm texture to life we can live by. now don't get me wrong, i love to party and have a good time but âto each their ownâ and sometimes just kickin it with movies at the crib or going to do something quiet is nice. Theres a real deep connection with not speaking through the day. So far Ive typed more words today then I have spoken and theres a thorough enjoyment in this. If you're reading this and thinking I'm just an introvert and I'm afraid to say it. thats far from where I'm at. Im still looking for that middle ground where one can be both. willing to embrace those around and then recline by into the peace of solitude.

Tuesday night in miami
Rum and Bass Hosted by Walshy Fire
This was my second destination after La Rosas. A short drive drive 5 minute drive east to the âwynwood stripâ. Going to Coyo I passed usual locations that are always packed with people, pumping music into the street, Theres also usually people lining the street rushing to a poppin spot to link up and food carts, mad food carts giving a seasoning to the air but this was not the case, it was just a slower night in Miami (tuesday) for reference.Of course this is just one location out of the thousands of nooks and spots that are what feels like disclosed, and in all fairness thats a respectable quality. But, for where i was, and what is most common this norm was not the case. Its very ok though, because when wynwood isn't filled with mass amounts of people, its still holds a weight of somewhere you wouldn't mind being if someone said they'll drive you there. that feeling is an example of the flexibility it holds as a point of interest. By the time I got most of the clubs and bars at this time were already slowly shutting down and people were leaving. So I park up and get out of my car and i hear a voice echoing down the street like a school hallway. Caribbean in tone, and exciting. This energy in this tone could drive thousands of masqueraders into whining battle. I soon get closer to the taco spot, and it to appeared to be in the moments of closing, but the voice now in front of me is pushing out of the outdoor speakers. So i enter the âfirst roomâ its a taco place, without all of proper history of ownership i won't go into the possible heritage of the owners to prevent any misreadings. BUT, I will say they have some bangin quesadillas, Flame shrimp tacos, amongst other dishes and also mad Sauce game.....tonight i didn't eat there. so i get to the next room. youâll know this room because majority of the time for events theres a big dude standing in front. He checks my ID and he opens the door. I found the voice, and whats backing it is a riddim that hits right to the pleasure center. 90-105bpm sweat inducing, water required dancehall music. On the decks silent addy, the voice of the night Walshy Fire of Major Lazer. This party from how i see it from going several times is a way to connect with both the general youth, and the major carribbean community in south florida. The ages inside ranged from 21 to 50âČs. everyone on the same side of the things. The rude boys, and bad gyals lined the walls, raising lighters and keeping a slow whine, providing the walls with a slow bounce all that the same time. Silent addy, a dancehall procurer runs the decks creating a new scale of heat which we all subject our self to live by. Even if you're hitting your slowest skank all night you will leave with sweat on your back, it may not be yours but it belongs to you now. Addys perfect timing with a pairing of a rosetta stone like library of music makes for an evil evil dj. The puppetry like handling of his crowd is that of method and instinct. This night his voice was that of dancehall.and walshy fire. who I will say is bringing to this âsouth florida cultureâ and the WORLD culture the art skill and determination of a proper MC. master of ceremonies. If silent addy is the composer walshy is the conductor. arranging this party and pushing the energy, having addy rewind the tracks âPUUUULLL UPPPPPâ , this energy which is so strong make you almost incapable of leaving. This is more than just saying âshake your assâ (theres nothing wrong with a shout out to the moving butts in the party) but its more than that. During the time I was there in this party walshy spoke on life, love, the future of ones self, independence and the facts of where we are in this world. This is all going over music that will make you want to move, to say the least. In this party there were people from all walks of life and I could see the look on everyones faces. They understood what we was being said and that sure this is an in the moment time where this can be said we have no worries and the world could burn right now but this time in this small club is perfect. The Job was done. But even after moments like this past through the night the conductor and composer still go on. reminding everyone that even after the words are said theres still a beat that will follow.Â
las rosaâs The Love below party
two parties in one night one on the low and one on the high end. With respect to their outputs of heat energy. The night started at La rosas 5 minutes west of the âwynwood stripâ. It was my first time to this spot. 3 rooms all giving off their own presence and an outdoor setting. This night was curated by the love below. They are who i would consider to be a young ministry of sound. I say this because of the world sound they bring for the an added element to âthe cultureâ, and from the special guests they do invite to share creation. Tonight they brought in a leading edge artist out of south florida âBearâ, Unfortunately I didn't get to chop it up with him for a brief moment. But, In what feels like the distant past I caught up with him briefly several times through mutual shows we were involved in. As an artist theres an oath you provide to your self that what you create will be a reflection of yourself. That may be an opinionated statement on my part but from a consumer and creator of these arts its easy to watch the and intake creation and analyze like a case study and self assess what my mind wants to conjure. As I watched Bear perform a collection of works there are various voices like that of life and sorrow. All performed under a composure of ice. Simplicity in his performance set up to compose what felt like 4 piece band. The free space transitions of rain, and an assembling of sounds that paint of picture of where music can head. Everyone in that room had a curiosity of what was next, where was it headed. At the end of the set the feeling i had was left open ended. But not in negative context. more like, a good movie.Â
Nothing in particular
i gave this post this title because thats what this page will be about. why did i pick tumblr? simply, because of ease. And why am I now deciding to write? because at this point in what is really in my the upstart to âadulthoodâ is that for me the words i type can be come through clear and when I sit back and reflect on whatever i want to say i can look at it in a broad spectrum. What will this blog be about? It will be a collection of places I go, the friends I have, the friends i meet and with the discretion of those I may talk to who knows may a âlow-keyâ re telling of some dope shit i here can come to life on this page. Through this writing you may encounter phrases or words that may not be understood even with the help on context, don't be worried. What you have come across is a bending of the english language through my own applied strain its called ârolandisâ. If at any time you feel lost in the words hitcha boi skattuh up. SO, outside of the screen here I AM YES, AND ASPIRING DJ/PRODUCER. AND YES, i will have post the obligatory soundcloud link! Sorry... I got a little aggressive there.Being someone in this ever growing field can and will from time to time hold weight. luckily the tides are changing in the community it once was its past the point of appeasing people. The move is really making it as_______________ as possible, thats where its at. we can fill in the blank, the appearance of the control is there but if you're outside of the umbrella everyone around is growing and creating, innovating the future of world. Its an uphill creative minefield but its going up. I live in south florida, Hollywood. its an interesting city where it seems like everyone is tied in at some point. In every direction theres fire eats, banging music and people with some thing to say. Reality is, everyone has this experience, the feeling of their city. we are all curious afraid and complex things. Some may refuse to except some of these points and others may already be embracing them. To those who have made it this far in this post, as far as I'm aware and other will agree I'm no eclectic soul, and no shaman. But if want to digest or share a perspective I think you may have found something to do when you're taking a dump, rolling a blunt, or smoothed up with someone you're diggin.Â
