hi, i’m mina & so excited to be playing my #1 fave, rita skeeter !
𝐁𝐋𝐈𝐌𝐄𝐘 ! ━━ was that KIERNAN SHIPKA i seen zooming past on a broomstick ? no , that was just eighteen year old pureblood , eighth year , SLYTHERIN member , rita skeeter . there is twitters among the house elves & paintings that they are AMBITIOUS + CONFIDENT ! but among the students & professors , they’re known to be DECEITFUL + OPPORTUNISTIC ! but to me , i always think of bleached hair, a black alice band, ink stained hands, interrupting speech, and a flicking quill when i hear their name . ━━ mina, 20, gmt, she/her.
as a child, rita was surrounded by lies. her parents never loved each other; their marriage was an insurance policy, a safe bet that they would only tolerate and use each other for their own personal gain. the two were stronger together, deadly, compared to being alone. growing up, rita said very little, she was more observant than everything and she was always very compliant when it came to her parents.
she couldn’t pinpoint when she had realised that her parents didn’t love each other but it was interesting to her. rita was somewhat of a trophy child, used to parade around at galas and dinners that her parents were invited to. some would say that she was controlled as a child, and in some respect she was, but rita made the conscious decision to never make a scene.
being part of her family was like doing business; none of them loved each other, they just had a way of making it work. she was closest to her aunt on her father’s side; the two seemed to get along and the woman was soft on her and allowed her to do whatever she wanted.
a part of rita was grateful that the woman had stepped in with her cool aunt routine, particularly when she felt unlovable. of course, there were times when she was upset that her parents didn’t love so, more so when she reached the age where she could attend hogwarts and it was like she was severed from them completely. of course, she went back over the holidays but she had lost interest in ever winning her parents’ love over. instead, the girl wanted respect, for them to see how well she was doing and be sad that they had nothing to do with him.
she was very quiet in her first and second year, barely said a word and simply took all the other personalities in to see who she should be wary of and which ones could prove to be helpful allies. yes, she was taunted in her house for being quiet but she never took it personally. no one would ever have power over her if she didn’t let them.
when she reached her third year, she grew tired of never having a voice so decided to push herself to come out of her shell. the passive and amicable rita had gone and she had been replaced by a much more confident but sarcastic individual who had started to use her manipulation skills within her house.
lying was so prominent in her family and it worried her professors when they came out so easily. instead of hating her manipulative mother, she admired her and picked up some of her habits. for so many years, she had been used as a pawn for both her parents, always finding herself in the middle of their squabbles but she had learnt to play them both off of each other to get what she wanted.
an articulate and opportunistic individual, it was far too easy for her; perhaps her parents had done their job too well. as she grew older, she got better at hiding her manipulative ways, even going as far as to convince her teachers that she was the ravenclaw type that had a hufflepuff heart. deceit was a great path to go down and soon, her ability to pull it off did render her some respect within her house.
rita skeeter does not play fair. no, she’s not the worst in her house but she’s certainly not an angel. she will pretend to be your friend and tell someone else your secrets for the sheer drama. she instigates a lot of things and up until this moment, she hasn’t got caught in the cross fire.
she’s all about causing trouble quietly. rita is dramatic in her confident ways and pending narcissistic personality and she’s smart enough to know that taljing about your own offences is a dangerous game; she’s a troublemaker, literally, she makes trouble for everyone else and uses her angel face to get out of it. she’s an excellent storyteller, as her future works will prove and that’s exactly what she is, a storyteller with little substance but it’s got her this far and seems to be working.
although she has ambition of her own, when it comes to dark forces she’s not really interested. she’d rather play her own game, on her own terms than someone else’s. she’d rather experiment with her own plans and not answer to anyone else. she does blend in in slytherin but that isn’t a bad thing for her. she isn’t seen as a threat and sees no problem with it; she’s so smart so will probably outscore you in exams ( js )
her parents taught her well and the fact that she doesn’t have to answer to them is a plus. maybe that’s why the girl doesn’t understand the context of boundaries or developing many relationships. however, she is a tease and will act flirtatious to get secrets out of people.
she is confident and has every right to be but we all know this self love is compensation for what her parents refused to give her. jokes will be on them when she becomes successful.
rita continues to break the rules quietly so if your muse ever needs advice to not get caught, go to her, though i promise she’ll start off denying how sneaky she is.
she’s part of the choir because she likes to be dramatic and it gives her a past time other than meddling.
as for connections, i’m the brainstorming type so message me here or discord & we’ll sort something out !!
