Tastes That Don’t Leave Your Mouth

She’s a girl from a horror story. She’s got knives for fingernails, and she sticks them down your throat until you choke to death on your own blood, filling up your lungs.

She’s got silver eyes and photo-reflective skin and translucent ideas made out of murderous impulses and low-blood-sugar-decisions. She’s cruel and constructed out of candy. Poisoned candy, the kind you give out in rich suburban neighbourhoods that really need some random tragedy inflicted upon their happy little homes. 

I wanted to wake up with her in my bed, but instead there’s just a stain from where she almost slit me open in the night, and the room is cold because she never shuts the window after she leaves, she just leaps from the side the building and falls down to the earth like a hail of black stones. 

I miss her, but she never misses me. Not with a hammer, and not with nails.
