So I'm taking this college class on bees right? And the class takes a trip to our college's arboretum, and one of our assignments is to observe something we haven't seen before and post about it. So we check out this one spot meant for observing birds and the professor says "So this orange flowering bush is supposed to attract hummingbirds. But unusually it also attracts bumblebees." Now the unusually part stood out to me because like, why? The flowers look like this

They're kinda tube shaped so yeah makes sense they'd attract hummingbirds. So I went back to get a better look and sure enough: bumblebees (artistic rendition below)

So I did some googling to find out why. Learned a few things

1. Bumblebees with longer tongues like deeper flowers

2. Bumblebees have tongues (which, yeah that makes sense but it isn't something I think about a lot)

Like this garden bumblebee. Go get that nectar buddy. You got this!

(my only other thought was that bees tend to be attracted to darker colors and were just checking them out because there were some purple flowers nearby)
