Just thinking.

I wonder if Catra doesn’t brush her hair because it makes her look more intimidating. Like how animals stand up or puff up their hair to look bigger. We know Catra is short and a lot of people throw her catness back at her. Double Trouble calls her “kitten” and in the Crimson Waste she’s told to “buzz off kitty kitty.” Later on we see Bow state that her cat ears in her helmet and cat features are adorable which makes Catra mad. I’m wondering if her hair is just another form of armor she wears.
