My Summer Skincare Routine for Oily Skin
Summer and oily skin? It’s a struggle I know all too well. The heat, the sweat, the constant shine—it used to drive me crazy. But over time (and after a lot of trial and error), I finally figured out a routine that keeps my skin fresh, clear, and matte—even in the middle of July.
First things first: cleansing. I ditched the harsh face washes and switched to a gentle foaming cleanser. It cleans my skin without stripping it dry—and that alone has made a huge difference. Next up, moisturizers.
I stopped using heavy creams and found my holy grail: a gel-based, oil-free moisturizer with hyaluronic acid. Lightweight, hydrating, and no greasy finish!
Let’s talk sunscreen—yes, even for oily skin. I used to skip it thinking it made my face worse, but that was a big mistake. Now I use a matte-finish SPF that doesn’t clog my pores or make me look shiny. Game changer.
During the day, blotting papers are my secret weapon. I keep them in my bag and use them instead of piling on powder.
And when I really want to treat my skin, I’ll do a clay mask once or twice a week. It helps soak up excess oil and clears out my pores.
One fun trick I swear by? Green tea ice cubes. I rub them on my face in the morning and it instantly cools, soothes, and tightens my skin. Total refresh.
And of course, I drink tons of water—hydration really does help balance oily skin.
My summer skincare motto? Less is more. I keep my routine simple and avoid anything too harsh. My skin is finally at peace, and I’m no longer scared of the summer sun.
If you’ve been battling oily skin too, I feel you. But trust me—once you find what works, summer gets a whole lot easier (and way less shiny).
