Something has been bugging me for a bit on my latest playthrough of BG3. In Astarion’s story we find out his master Cazador is doing a ritual to become a Vampire Ascendant —

For the ritual you need to do an incantation and to sacrifice 7,000 souls. The souls end up being a catacomb filled with vampire spawn Cazador has created and imprisoned across hundreds of years.

When Astarion gets kidnapped by the Nautiloid at the beginning of the game this apparently throws a wrench in Cazador’s plan. He needs Astarion for the ritual for some reason??? Why doesn’t he just make a new spawn to replace Astarion as the 7,000th soul?

If it’s because of the Sigil carved into Astarion’s back (I thought he carved the Sigil into every single one of the sacrifice’s backs —-) then couldn’t he do that to a replacement?

I headcanon that this is where Ydrich's mother was buried.

Whistlefinger found Ydrich at a camp just outside of Baldur's Gate a couple of months after she was born. There was a dead elven woman and tracks leading to a bandit camp with a recently-dead elven man in a cage. Unable to find any information about who the elves were, he arranged to have her mother buried and took the child home to raise alongside his triplet children.

I cast a disguise spell on my party and it turned Astarion into a gnome.

I let early-game Ydrich have some violence as a treat.

i love being a petty bitch while playing bg3 and right after araj goes on about wanting astarion to bite her and him refusing then having my tav say to astarion "you can feed on me tonight" because in my head araj hears that and is seething

Originally, I was playing a slightly more cautious Tav, but Ydrich's recklessness at Rosymorn (originally justified by her love of shiny things) has cascaded into spider-licking and putting her hands into things she really shouldn't (justified by her being an overly curious idiot).

I was happy with how Act II was going, but discovered that I missed a key location for my roleplaying and reverted back to an old save.

I haven't found the location yet, but reverting was worth it because I now have the mental image of Karlach and Astarion standing on a ledge dropping Astarion's teleportation-granting boots on Ydrich and Wyll's heads, only for the party to discover that there was a fairy ring a few yards away connected to the one they were investigating at the top of the ledge.
