a lot of November prompts on patreon were about my birthday/my sign/doin’ what i want, and so that all kind of congealed into this lovely Beach Scorp.

She lives on a small oasis and acts as its groundskeeper/tender and in her spare time she trades stories and curios with travelers who pass through. On full moons people say that the springs on the oasis run with sea foam rimmed salt water, and that if you dive into them you will suddenly find yourself in the starlit void of the open ocean. She says that these are just tall tales brought on by heat stroke. There is no secret ocean in the springs. There are no great glowing eyes peering from the water. There are no mythical deathless lobsters that so resemble her kin.

We should all just have a drink and stay out of the sun.

That is what we should do.

I’m driving myself up the wall because I swear I can hear the vocal line but I don’t know how that could be if it was truly converted to MIDI. Unless you can replicate speech sounds entirely with modulated MIDI notes, in which case I’m actually impressed with this tire fire of an MP3.

Couple questions about Lily and Appy: 1). What does Lily do for a living? 2) About how old is Lily? 3) Is Appy able to manifest themselves in other apartments? 4). Has Appy ever seen the old Christmas specials like Peanuts Christmas or How the Grinch Stole Christmas? 5). What kinds of stuff does Appy do while Lily’s at work? Feel free to answer in private if you don’t want to spoil any surprises.

1)  Lily works retail at an arts-and-crafts store, and just like me she probably had a terrible Black Friday that drained all her energy for answering questions on her tumblr blog in a timely fashion.

2) Lily is 22!  She’s taking a year off from college at the moment.  This is her first time living on her own.

3) Lily is pretty sure the apparition is confined to this one apartment.  She can pass through walls but she never seems to go anywhere else.  It’d be difficult to test that without some really awkward conversations with the neighbors, though.

4) The apparition can quote “How The Grinch Stole Christmas” from memory.  She insists that “It’s The Great Pumpkin, Charlie Brown” is the superior Peanuts holiday special, though.

5) Lily once set up her laptop and left her webcam running while she was at work to try and find out the answer to this question.  The apparition stood motionless and unblinking, her face uncomfortably close to the screen, and stared directly into the webcam for nine hours.  This was probably not what she typically does all day, but it was certainly typical of her being ornery.
